- In this video, I shoot the Manhattan skyline from Bayonne, NJ (Port of New Jersey) with my Nikon D850. It is a great location to photograph the skyline as many iconic structures are in the frame (State of Liberty, One World Trade Center, Empire State Building, One Vanderbilt, One Bryant Park)

Beautiful ❤
Thanks so much, friend!
Your videos are always a great help, I am coming again to NY next week to go through some locations again and I went through channel again to find some new inspirations, thanks for sharing it.
Love the content, and above all, thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Bill!
Excellent video and definitely an awesome location, thanks for sharing Jay,
I appreciate the kind words!
Great Video like always
Thanks Freddie!
Wow, beautiful shots Jay!!! The clouds and color were awesome, so you picked a great time to shoot!!! Too hard to pick a favorite, they all blew me away👍🏻!!
Thanks so much Barry! Great location!
Great images Jay, that's definitely a spot worth revisiting over and over.
Thanks Rich. It is a pretty cool spot!
That is by far my favorite place to shoot the nyc skyline and yes I’ve been kicked out of there a couple of times. Only days they don’t bust your chops are 7/4 and 9/11. So want to go when there are clouds to try long exposure. Nyc is always hit or miss with clouds I find. Cool video. Glad you mentioned your run in with NJ’s finest as that can end a trip fast and you have to understand that.
Thanks so much. The security issue was why I did not include it my earlier video. They did not hassle me on 9/11 so I figured I would head back.
As i'm planning a trip to NYC i've watched all your videos about New-York photography. Thanks for your work.
Thanks so much Jean-Claude! If you have any questions regarding New York, email me at jaycohen@optonline.net
Great video, Jay! I've been wanting to shoot NYC skyline and you my have just inspired me to take action!!
Thanks Rick. You should definitely give it a try. Let me know if you need suggestions for locations/time of day.
Really useful video mate. Visiting again in July from London so hoping to do some all nighters and catch the sunrise lots
Thanks Gareth! If you need any tips, let me know. Check out my New York playlist.
Really enjoyed that video Jay. Would love to have been there
Thanks so much Ian!
Great shots, Jay. I love the panorama shots! I also loved the quick peek of 1 Hanson Place in Brooklyn.
Thanks Aristides! You might like the video I did last year on five places to shoot the skyline: 5 of the Best Locations to Photograph the New York Skyline
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot You're welcome, Jay. I watched it before but it doesn't hurt to watch it again.
Visited this spot on my vacation last week, great view but a bit difficult to manage (with a long focal length) when it is windy, Not easy to reach with only public transportation and by feet, but it was worth it!
Tough to get with public transport. I am impressed with your effort. Long focal length and wind are a touch combination, especially in low light.
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot I came from North Europe and this was my only pre-planed shot for this vacation, so effort was known before ;) Thanks for your inspiring Videos! Regards from St.Pauli|Hamburg|Germany
what a great collection of images Jay, especially those panos. Was good the police didn't move you on and gave you the time to stay on location and get your images
Thanks Jim! Interesting light this time of year. In the summer, the sun would rise behind the city from this vantage point.
I've only been to NYC once, when I was 7, and I really don't have any desire to go until I see one of your videos taking photos of the skyline. Strange that the cop would ask you to stand on the road side of the guard rail? Some really great panos in this video. Really enjoyed seeing this location. Hope you are doing well, have a great week!
Thanks Paul. If you do make it to NYC, let me know!
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot Will do Jay, thanks so much!
i can see lots of effort in this video and hope you’ll become famous in the near future!!!
Thanks Dung! I hope so too!!
Great Pics. I Will try the location as well. But i have to wait for my 18-300 for the T-4 Grettings Frank
Thanks so much. A long lens comes in handy. I was using my 70-200mm
I am planning my trip to New York in October and your videos are very interesting. I would like to take a picture from this spot, could you tell me where I can park my car? Thanks
Thanks for the video. But why not use Exchange Place promenade in Jersey City?
Thanks for the comment and question. From Jersey City, you can't get the Statue of Liberty in the image in the same way. Also a great location, however
Nice shots do you lead photo trips around New York to all the iconic shots and some of the lesser know ones?
Thanks Bill. Yes I do host workshops. Planning some now. I will also do outings if you are interested.
Hello. Nice photospot.
I'd like to go there. I'm going to NY in next month.
I have a question. Lady liberty statue is lit every night?
Nice Jay...the colors were beautiful! I've always enjoyed this location too but I haven't shot here in almost 10 years because the police kicked me out on my last visit, I may have to get back since they let you stay. Great shots! BTW, where did you park?
Thanks Drew. I parked on some gravel by the side of the road. Surprised I did not get booted.
Amazing shot! I was in NY in august 2022 but i wasn´t in this place. I hope to go back to NY in the next 2 years. My question is- Is this zone dangerous at night? I want to go there with my 200-500 and my D500 to take a picture like that! Thanks!
I have never felt unsafe there. There is nothing but the Port of New Jersey and there is usually security around. It is not an urban area.
Hi thanks for sharing this video, I am planning to visit new jersery next week, will it be possible to share the exact location on map
Hopefully this pin wi work! Dropped pin

@@JCImagesBehindtheShot thank you so much :). I saw your other architecuture videos they are really good. Just a suggestion, please pin those locations if they are not prominent for followers like us. Thanks once again
I went here to shoot and arrived about an hour before sunset set up took a few shots then waited for Blue hour. Port Authority police came along and said I had to leave, but I asked if I could come back after dark he said yes, which I was surprised by. So I left for about 45 minutes then came back and shot for 2 hours. Nobody else around and police never came by again. I think it depends on the timing and probably the officer. Be respectful and as low key as possible.
Great strategy. So glad you had a chance to explore that area. I’m sure you got some phenomenal shots. Are you on Instagram? I’d love to see your work.
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot I did get some nice shots. Not on instagram. Thanks for dropping me a pin that really helped me find it. Great spot.
How safe its at that time
How would it be from Tear Drop Memorial? I guess there is no issue with the harbor police.
I tried finding the spot but couldn’t find it. Can you please give the exact co ordinates of the spot where I can get off and take the photo? Also, I am not NY/NJ local so I will be taking an Uber. Thank you

Hopefully you can see this.
Coming on July 27-28-29 trying to find this location so I can plan to come and take this shoot on a Saturday morning , can help me with the location since I will use a Uber driver to drop me off thank you.
Great time to shoot. During this time of year, the sunrise should be in a good location.
What’s the exact address of that location?
