Great job Jay! Great fun. One question though. Did you get to keep the watch!!! LOL
I wish! The watch retails for $100k!
Great job! I love how the pictures came out.
Thanks so much! Good learning experience for me.
Great critique video. Really interesting. Subbed 👍🙂
Thanks Stig!!
Very nice pictures, well done and inspiring. It would be interesting to see a video with wine or alcool bottles and glasses. Thanks for your video.
I have done some work on wine bottles but did not vlog it. I will do another one and put it on RUclips! Thx!
Bravissimo JC ...thank you so much
Gracie!!
Kari Voutilainen makes grail watches...I'm jealous!
Amazing watchmaker!!
cool!
Thanks! Fun project!
Nice work Jay 🙂
Thank you! Cheers!
@jimpie54 Thanks
I really enjoy your videos Jay. I’m about to see if I can do similar processing with PS. It may be strange question but how do I zoom into the image while already using the polygon lasso tool without losing my place I’m not a PS user… as you can guess Thanks Andy
Good luck Andy and thanks for the kind words!
These are great. thanks!
It was some fun during Covid!! Thanks!
Great video 👍🙂💧
Thanks so much!!
Just subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to viewing you content Stig!
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot Thanks a lot. Will subscribe now too 🙂👍
Nice work. which location was?
I believe it is Cutchogue. Look for "Educational Cultural Center" on Google Map.
Nice. It seems to me you could also do it in Camera Raw and do all the bulbs at once and all the ceiling parts by combining masks.
Yes, I believe you are correct friend. I am just more used to Photoshop. Also, the lasso tool on the ceiling gives more flexibilty but one could mimic it in LR.
Thanks for the video, however based on the design the island pendant lights are being used as "task lighting" and should be throwing light downward on to the island work space and not to the ceiling.
They do shine both ways as there is nothing to block the light from the ceiling. Regarding the island, given the angle I was shooting at, I don't believe the lights would be very visible.
Nice; thank you so much! Keep them coming
Thank you!!
My go to selection tool is always the Pen Tool, extremely accurate
I need to spend more time with the pen tool. I have not mastered it yet. I hear from others that is can be quite effective.
Jay thank you so much for the critique. Story behind that macro shot I took. I had just bought the Z105 macro lens because I wanted to dive into macro photography. It was mother's day. I bought some flowers as gives and before I gavecthem, I decided to test the lens out. It was my first go at macro photography. Took me awhile to understand it. I did take many shots and stiched them together with Helicon Focus. Moral of the story, just get out and shoot some photography. There's subject everywhere!
So cool. I looked at it again and really like it. The lighting is also very good!! I assume you used a flash?
@ Thank you! I used an LCD/LED panel (Viltrox L116T).
Best City ❤
No arguments here!!
Thanks Jay, inspirational body of work from one of my fave YT photoghaers. I'll be visitng NYC from Australia for 2 weeks April/May 2025 so I have been rewatching all your NYC videos. Have bookmarked heaps of the locations you've visitied over the years. I love architecture so really looking forward to locations like the Citigroup building, the 4 corners in the financial district you did, skyline views from NJ and especially the TWA hotel at JFK...I have to give that one go.
If you have any questions, before you come to the states feel free to reach out (jaycohen@optonline.net). Thanks for the kind words!
Jay, you have got to get your sound recording sorted. This video is so awful it's just not watchable. 💥
Yes, Bob. I did this video several years ago. I have switched gear. I believe you will find the sound in my recent videos to be much better.
A very good year, Jay. I love the variety of genres that you explore, and quite successfully at that. I felt particularly drawn to the autumn barn image with the beautiful rust/ orange tree and background foliage. Elegant in its simplicity in both composition and color tones. Wishing you a great 2025! I’ll be watching!
Thanks so much for the very kind words, Rick! The happiest of New Year’s to you, my friend!
HAPPY 2025!!! I love your work, it is inspirational. specially the B&W. my favorite is the church
Thanks for the very kind words Val!
Wish you a wonderful and happy new year. Thank you for sharing your work, great work.
Thanks so much Fernando!! Same to you!
Thanks for sharing, very impressive work. All the best in 2025!
Thanks so much, friend! Same to you!
Happy New Year, Jay! Thank you for sharing your work. i am looking forward to more great shots in the new year.
Thanks Aristides!
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot You're welcome!
I do love the Texas set as well...Very cool.
Thanks Tim!!
Very wonderful pictures! Could you explain or make a video about the process or technique in Photoshop you use for the fairy trees? Happy New Year.
Thanks Luc. Yes, I will put together a video of that technique. Happy new year to you!
Stunning!
Thank you! 😊
Great work Very interesting Wish you a wonderful and happy new year
Thank you! You too!
I always enjoy seeing your work. The variety of images made it really interesting. Thank you and Happy New Year!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Beautiful shots Jay. What's up for 2025? Can I do that tree shots in lightroom?
Thanks Bill! I don’t think it’s possible in Lightroom as I employed different layers in Photoshop and changed the opacity. I will put some thought into that.
Thanks for the video and Happy New Year! Idea - a video where you talk about how you walk around a tree taking several photos and then blending for an etherial look, sounds fascinating.
Great idea! Just have to find another good subject, and I will do it!
Happy new year Jay and all the best.
You too friend!
Is the very highly reflective bright room a hindrance to light control? (Genuinely curious)
Yes! It definitely is! Lesson learned. I may repaint at some point.
Hello, This is an excellent video. I actually only make still lifes. That's why I find these kinds of videos fascinating. You made a wonderful still life. A friendly greeting from the Netherlands.
Thanks friend!!
I encourage you to check out the industrial landscapes of Bernd and Hilla Becher. Their work is similar to what I think you're going for in this video
Oooh! I appreciate the comment. I will check it out immediately!
Just checked out their work. Really incredible!
Thanks, this video is very helpful. Going to Glacier National Park next September.
Enjoy!!
Great still life shots Jay and that Mongers place looks amazing, I can see myself spending days in there. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Thanks! You too Richard!!
Nice! I was at Mongers a couple of weeks ago looking for the same thing - props for some still lifes - great place to do it. In fact I am seeing the owner of Mongers tonight - we are old friends and I photographed Monger's Market as he renovated the buildings over several years. Amazing place. Thanks for posting the video and maybe we will cross paths in the area at some point (I am in Weston)...
So funny! The place is incredible. I could spend hours there. I follow you on IG. Big fan. Would love to connect!
That first shot was excellent.
Thanks Martin!
I used to work for an Atlanta Georgia architecture company (John Portman) and I enjoyed hanging out with David Naughton. He did their photography with an ALPA camera, he occasionally utilized this style and I loved it.
Thanks friend!
Great to see you again, Jay. Great video and inspiration. Thank you. As usual, looking forward to your next video.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Very helpful. I am planning a trip to this place as well for both astrophotography as well as perhaps get lucky and photograph thunderstorms over the flats. Wish I was living there
It is an amazing place! I hope you get a lot of great photos!
Great critiques, I really learned a lot from watching you go through each of these images, keep up the great work
Thanks so much Damian!!
Thanks for the critiques Jay. Glad you liked them. Good to see you back on YT.
Thanks so much!!
Thanks for your opinions, it really helps me grow as an amateur photographer. keep making video's Jay!!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Wow, thank you so much for your kind words! I shot the thumbnail photo (11th image). Your opinion means a lot to me as I've been following your work/channel for some time. I shot that in a romanian village on an autumn photo tour but the conditions were not great as it rained a lot. Still, the views were very picturesque.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Great shot! I am so happy you sent it in. Looks like a great location!
it would be nice to have lesson on the way you use the gradiant tool ?
Good suggestion! Thanks for the comment. I will definitely add this to the list.
Ok... so I'm a lil bit confused here Jay.... as to how u got rid of the blogs. on the left and right... Can you explain in detail, how u went about replacing them with the sky colour.... I'm a newbie. Thanks
