Yep! Naples, Florida, here! We live in an area where the power generally stays on for the most part during summer storms but happens daily and accurately with the onset and time of day. This is best for a one cat household. I have three. Need I say what a fiasco it would be during feeding time? But it sounds like a great idea.
I'm here in Florida as well and power outages come with the territory when those nasty summer storms roll in. I have mine set for specific times to dish out a snack or meals and, as long as the power is up when the time comes, it does what it's supposed to do. Losing power doesn't negatively affect it unless the power is out when it's time to drop a snack.
