We live in the middle of 160 acres, our nearest neighbor is 3/4 miles away, our lab won’t quit bothering them, in your opinion, is there one that’s better for a larger area fence? Also we have a ton of trees around our house, and was planning on giving the dog a very large boundary

You ever reviewed the whistle tracker?
I have not but you are not the first to mention that one to me. I will put it on the list but I have some more stuff to get through with the ones I have, plus some additional Tractive devices I haven’t even unboxed yet. I will definitely keep it in mind. Thanks!
I am using the Reactive Dog Bundle. I love the course. It is easy to follow and is not overwhelming. The short sessions are good for my dog.
I will have to check that out as well and mark it down for a potential video in the future. Thanks for the tip!
We just want to keep our dog away from the road but not fence him in. Is it possible just to have a long straight line away from the road with without making a circle like fence?
There may be a collar option out there that does that but none of the ones I currently have. I have yet to unbox and use a few (Tractive), but if they are like previous iterations of the Tractive, circles is what you get. With the Halo and SpotOn, you can get creative with your designs and draw just about any sided shape you want to come up with, within the posts limitations. However, it does have to be a shape and not a simple line. I see your point though, and it would be nice to have an option like that for specific purposes.
I have a 10 pound Yorkie. He likes to escape and roam. I do not care about active tracking him, but would like a collar or device that would lead me to him if he gets lost and roams away from our area when he gets out of the fence. Will the F3 do that? The others seem too big and bulky for him. Will the F3 let me find him if he gets lost? Good video. Thanks.
I personally don’t recommend the Fi Series 3. I’ve heard from those who’ve had no problems with it but I haven’t received two, and neither met my expectations. The tracking was off far too often. They were adequate for a little while but then kind of fell off. The biggest problem I had was with customer service. It took a while just to talk to someone via chat and they kept sending me in circles redoing the same thing, over and over again, expecting a different result. I did a review on the Fi here: ruclips.net/video/f9-Oi_YbEJA/видео.htmlsi=N_ApWy_leiXYG2n4 and compared it with the Halo 3 here: ruclips.net/video/zroa36ZyAGY/видео.htmlsi=yYFFOiZqCdtIbuO6

Would love to hear an updated opinion of SpotOn vs Halo. We're about to pick up an 8 week old Ridgeback. We have about 1/2 acre in the suburbs and a 3.5' chainlink fence that I'd like to keep the pup from jumping over. Appreciate it!
If you're deciding between SpotOn and Halo for your Ridgeback, I've got two videos that might help with your decision. SpotOn vs Halo GPS Dog Fence - Precision Test Comparison can be found here: ruclips.net/video/r1Wv-ZLtc8k/видео.htmlsi=t9UrkX2wOnoshx7S I also have a video breaking down the real cost of both systems here: ruclips.net/video/66XogB6K2Gw/видео.htmlsi=6XI6y-ghgELSBKBE I hope this helps!
I got this Litter Robot 4 last Saturday, and my 2 cats, Delilah and Sampson took to it almost immediately, Delilah is a 7 pound Calico cat and Sampson is a 13 pounds Russian Blue cat. I have a CatGenie 120, however, due to the incredibly inconsistent, incompetence of the manufactured home park, they have in the past, shut off the water supply due to an “Emergency Water Line break” that caused the processing unit of the CatGenie 120 to have a poor water line pressure system that has caused the entire CatGenie 120 to fail each time it goes through the cycle. It is going to cost me $279 to get it fixed, or else I would have to get the CatGenie AI that would tell me if there’s a problem with the water line supply. I think that it would be better to just donate the CatGenie 120 to a local rescue shelter here in Arkansas, since I am having issues with the manufactured home park management company that refuses to admit that they have destroyed the water supply processing unit of the CatGenie 120, and I am considering legal action against them because of that, and how they have destroyed my old hot water heater due to their own fault. I bought the Litter Robot for this reason and I am not having any issues with it so far, since it doesn’t have to use the water supply system in my home, and I am saving money on clumping cat litter already, even though, I may have to get the Litter Hopper in addition to it.
I hate to hear you’re going through that. Gotta love those utility companies! lol. I haven’t tried the CatGenie120 but the litter-robot 4 is more than holding up in the long term. Months of consistent use and the only thing I’ve had to do was clean the sensors twice, which takes all of ten seconds.
I'm curious why you did not test the Whistle Go Explore, we have had one for years and not only has it been accurate in tracking our runaway hound, it has INCREDIBLE battery life.
I just haven’t had my hands on one yet. But it’s definitely on my list!
It seems the walking feature is removed from the Android app.
I hate to hear that! I have an iPhone and an iPad and haven’t used an Android in years so I’m not sure what the deal is with that.
I guess I can try the cheaper version on Temu… halo too expensive 😢
There’s a cheaper version of the Halo on Temu? We have a discount code on top of Halo’s discount right now. I just dropped a video on it, so feel free to check it out. You can use this link: geni.us/Halo-Collar-3-discount to get an extra discount! It’s not a huge discount, but every little bit helps!
I have been using Halo and have gone through 2-3 of the Gen 1 collars and now 1 Gen 3 collar. The Halo has not proven to be durable with our two dogs (a 25 pounder and a 45 pounder that hunts, retrieves, and swims). After 9-12 months the charging port (even on the Gen 3) and/or battery quit working. Also had a bad like 50 ft boundary shift at least once that started zapping our poor girl inside the house, a safe place. So now that we have a 3rd dead Gen 1 and a dead Gen 3, we are looking at options that include tracking. It sends like SpotOn, Halo, and Dogtra Pathfinder 2 are our main options.
I haven’t tried the Dogtra Pathfinder yet but I’ll definitely look into it! As for the Halo 3, you can remove the magnetic port and charge via USB-C. I don’t know if that will help in your situation but it’s worth a shot if you’re just having trouble with the magnet charger port. I always recommend the SpotOn over all of the others I’ve reviewed. You don’t have to pay a subscription (unless you need the tracking capability and, even then, it’s cheaper in the long run) and I’ve never had major issues with it. I’ve had some fence drift under the trees from time to time but that’s par for the course with these collars. If you decide to purchase the SpotOn collar, don't miss out on a discount with code WAF! Just use this link: spotonvirtualfence.sjv.io/R5zjNR Let me know if removing the magnetic port helps or if the whole thing is beyond fixing. I had a similar problem and once I removed the port on the Halo 3, I was able to charge it. Also, I highly recommend the training programs Halo has. To me, that’s the best part of the entire thing. With some solid training, you might be able to remove the shock probes and not have to worry about that happening again. It didn’t take too long to get my Dobies to react the right way to vibration and tone (especially Athena) but they know what it means now, and where to go.
Have you tried the Dogtra Pathfinder 2?
Appreciate your reviews. I’ve been binging them. Have you seen the change in price and inclusions in the subscriptions? The bronze is now $9.99 and it only includes 5 fences.
Yeah, the subscription service has changed subtly a few times. It's still irritating that the Halo is essentially a paperweight without a subscription but it is what it is. Fortunately, most people aren't going to need more than 5 fences.
No it doesn’t
I'm getting a GSD- what age can you start using these collars? I'm also a little worried about the 10ft of space living in a residential development and not having a large amount of yard. What do you recommend doing in that case? Setting the fence post beyond the yard so that the dog is able to have the full yard space to run?
It's hard to say. SpotOn is pretty adamant about needing a yard no smaller than 1/2 an acre, with 80' at its narrowest point. Halo claims it's fine to use in yards no smaller than 30' x 30'. That's not a lot of room, especially when it comes to fence drift, which is more prevalent with the Halo than it is with the SpotOn. It's hard to include your house in the fence build since the Halo detects the sudden drop in GPS signal as an affirmation that the dog is inside. If your yard is smaller than 30' x 30', I wouldn't recommend either the Halo or the SpotOn. You may consider extensive training and a tracking collar only.
My family and I are looking for a family dog with natural protective instincts. My oldest is 4, my youngest is 8 months. I heard American Dobermans are better family dogs. Would you recommend a female American Doberman for a family with young children that’s relatively new to guardian breeds and novice owners who are willing to put in the work to train?
Female Dobermans are a little more on the anxious and fearful (less tolerant of strangers) side of things. Males are more playful, accepting of strangers, and tolerant of sudden change. I would highly recommend a male. They're a bit larger but more laid back. That's not to say you shouldn't get a female. They're def cuter and pretty chill when it's just you and the family. I don't know how much experience you have with breeders but regardless of male or female, take your time and do your homework. Stay away from backyard breeders. A new pup should always come with initial shots and deworming and never be taken from the mother prior to the 8-week mark, preferably 10 weeks. Pups taken from their mother prior to that point are often not socialized at all and are much more difficult to handle down the road. The stud and the bitch should have a full lineage, AKC certified (CKC is second best), with an available medical history for you to look over. Train early. For the most part, a new dobie pup will sleep on your lap or next to you for the first few weeks. When they are up and moving around, train them in the basics (sit, shake hands, lay down, spin in place, etc) and just add more complicated things as you go along. Socialize it as well. Get it around other people and other animals often. Your Dobie will always be protective but you only want those instincts to rise to the surface when there is a real threat. Ultimately, I would highly recommend a female dobie (A male more so), to a family with young kids. But Dobermans are like many dogs....a sudden pull on the ears, while they are sleeping or otherwise startling them, may result in a nip (their teeth are scissor-like). Speaking of nips, that's something you may want to train them against early on. A Doberman playing chase in the yard likes to nip. It's really a pinch but with really sharp teeth! They're not doing it to hurt-just being playful. But it can leave a hell of a welt or break the skin. I've learned over the years to work with them on that so they use their paws to bat at you and play, rather than pinching with their teeth lol.
@@WorldAnimalFdn thank you so much for taking the time to write this detailed response! My wife and I really want a guardian breed that can also be a family dog, and Dobermans are at the top of our list. The puppy nipping/biting phase with Dobermans is something that concerns me with my youngest daughter in particular, she’s only 8 months old and is still learning how to be gentle with animals. My 4 year old daughter knows how to be gentle and would LOVE a puppy playmate, so I’m not as concerned but I also wouldn’t want her to be upset or scared of the puppy if he nipped her to the point of welting/bleeding… you’ve definitely given me a lot to think about and consider! Thanks again!
Do these collars need cell service? We don’t have any at our house, but we have wifi
The Halo does. The SpotOn does not need cell service because it has an off-grid mode that allows you to build one invisible fence, as large as it needs to be, with zero cell service. You don’t have to pay a subscription fee for the SpotOn fence either, just tracking (which utilizes cell coverage). Both the Halo and the SpotOn have universal cell coverage though. If there’s any cell service in your area from any provider, they will pick up on that. In your case, I’d opt for the off-grid mode and SpotOn. If you decide to purchase the SpotOn collar, here's the link: spotonvirtualfence.sjv.io/WqjZPP. Your purchase through this link will support our channel and help us create more great content.
Irish wolfhound is largest in the wold
What would you recommend for a 5 acre property with no cell coverage? We do have wifi. Tree canopy is 10-15 ft junipers. Thanks!
SpotOn Omni. It has a forest mode for your tree coverage and an off-grid mode for the lack of cell coverage. The only drawback is tracking. You need that cell coverage for adequate tracking but that’s something you would deal with no matter what collar you go with. The off-grid mode allows you to create a single, invisible fence but that single fence will cover your 5 acres easily (SpotOn covers up to 1,000 acres or so). I have a heavy tree canopy and I’ve tested the SpotOn under heavier tree coverage as well (in my SpotOn vs Invisible Fence Review). It’s accurate to within 4 feet, which is within the fence drift window. Hope that helps! If you decide to purchase the SpotOn collar, here's the link: spotonvirtualfence.sjv.io/WqjmkM. Your purchase through this link will support our channel and help us create more great content.

Thank you !
I hate our halo, it doesn’t work, our dogs don’t even feel the shock and you have to recharge every day. I had no idea it would only last like 12 hours and takes two hours to charge. That’s insane to me how anyone can do that every day. Our dogs are outdoor dogs and we have 17 acres which they love but definitely not good with these collars
Yeah, this was one of my earlier videos. Since then, the Halo has been a bit hit or miss with me. It's more problematic under heavy tree cover. I find myself putting the SpotOn collar on them more often than not. The biggest issue I have with the Halo is less about accuracy and more about the necessity for a subscription just to use it. Without one, the collar is basically a paperweight. I find the SpotOn collar to be a better alternative. It offers reliable performance and has a much better battery life, which could be a great fit for your 17 acres. If you’re considering a change, you can check out the SpotOn collar through my link here: spotonvirtualfence.sjv.io/21PLxQ It’s been a great solution for me, and I hope it might work well for you too!"
Why do you have so many eggs?
What is the difference between the XL and the regular one?
It’s a bit larger with a bigger, 21-day battery. It’s better for larger dogs as well because its size is not such an irritant on a much larger dog and it allows for a larger collar band.
How does the halo and spot on work during the rainy and stormy times. We live in the country, and are surrounded by ranches and farms.
The Halo is generally a decent smart collar for me, but it has issues that stand out more in a heavy tree canopy or thick clouds. The SpotOn is much more reliable in these conditions because its active antenna reduces signal reflection. In fact, I just finished a video comparing the SpotOn with the Invisible Fence GPS Collar, which will be published today. I ran some tests in the woods and the SpotOn performed very well. SpotOn also has an off-grid mode, allowing you to set up an invisible fence without a cell signal. It can handle only one fence when off-grid, but you can make that fence large enough to cover hundreds of acres."
If you decide to purchase the SpotOn collar, here's the link: spotonvirtualfence.sjv.io/NkdvdV Your purchase through this link will support our channel and help us create more great content.
They love to smile...
Our male (Ares) grins quite a bit but our female (Athena) has an absolutely pathetic sad face 😂
My Louisiana leopard is so strong and has such endurance. She swims for so long.
Catahoulas are working dogs so I know they’re strong, but they are also a Breed Power 10 dog in terms of speed among AKC competitors. Pretty impressive!
how about keeping my dog from leaving the yard in putsuit of rannits?
I almost always recommend the SpotOn because it’s always been the most accurate and has the quickest response time for me, even under a tree canopy. But it is quite expensive. If you have the cash to fling around, I recommend it. However, you will have to engage in some dog training to teach your dog how to respond to the collar.
Excellent Thank you
No problem! I have several of these reviews up now so feel free to subscribe! I have a bunch more I plan on adding in the days and weeks to come!
Can you buy the spoton without the cellular subscription? There is no cell phone coverage where I am.
Yes, you can buy the SpotOn GPS Fence without a cellular subscription. It works with GPS anywhere you can see the sky. You don't need a cellular subscription to create, manage, or activate fences, and many customers successfully use SpotOn in off-grid mode in remote areas with no cellular service.
If you decide to purchase the SpotOn collar, here's the link: spotonvirtualfence.sjv.io/Or26An. Your purchase through this link will support our channel and help us create more great content.
How quickly does this react as dog approaches the fence line? Trying to contain a Labrador that, for whatever reason, bolts out into the street when ONE particular dog is being walked by our house with thier owner. Outside of this one dog, my lab stays in my yard and just watches all other people and dogs walk by. 🤷♂️
The SpotOn Omni reacts the quickest. I have a review up for it as well. But no matter what collar you choose, you have to train your dog to understand how to react to the collar. If he/she doesn’t know, it’s liable to bolt in any direction. The SpotOn lessens the tone and vibration (and stops shocking if you’re using that option) if your dog is returning, which helps with the teaching, but you’ll need to do some hands-on as well.
If they would lower the price of subscription maybe raise the cost of the device itself I would probably buy it. But the subscription is the killer. If it had Live Tracking maybe it would be worth it.
I agree. Some of these subscription models are straight up robbery. Out of all these collars I’ve covered, I went with the SpotOn. It’s crazy expensive upfront (it helps to grab a discount code or catch them during a Spring sale or something), but there’s no subscription unless I have to track. The subscriptions are a little more reasonable if you do need the tracking and it’s the most accurate tracking I’ve come across yet.
Thanks for the great review! I’m curious if there’s interest in reviewing dog trackers that don’t require a subscription or cell signal?
The main ones I’m aware of right now are the Petfon Smart Tracker 2 and Apple AirTag.
FYI, the Fi collar has a lost dog mode that will give you much more accurate tracking, designed to help you find the dog more quickly. Of course it does use a lot more battery when in this mode.
Yes, I know. I’ve used it, and in my experience, it functions about as well as a kite in water.
The fact you have prong collars on them tells me you do not know anything about dobermans
I understand your concern about the prong collars. Just to clarify, the footage of Dobermans with prong collars was a B-roll used for illustrative purposes and doesn’t reflect my own training methods. I don’t use or endorse prong collars. I hope the rest of the video is helpful!
Always wanted a Doberman.I would choose a European male
Me too! I’ve never had the opportunity. Just don’t fall for the whole “warlock” Doberman shtick. There is a such thing but it’s usually a cross between a dobie and a Great Dane (so not technically a dobie) I’ve had so-called breeders try to sell me Warlock Dobies and they’re always European, supposedly.
