Blue skies, new toys, fun times - nice video chopsy! Ride safe my friend!
Thanks TMF, when we do our meetup you can give her a try see what you think :-)
Very kind of you sir! ....but I've gone right off very Torquey bikes (for reasons that will become clear very soon.....nurse! When's lunch!!)...
Oh no!! Not something to do with that electric torque monster is it?
Stay tuned! :0(
You're creating a monster! Top work fella, great vid 👌🏻
very cool, you sound very happy! Careful with the new mods....the last 3rd gear overtake was awesome
I got the same Rottweiler kit last summer and still in the box.. putting it on on Wednesday we getting 69° here in nyc.. your video jusy hype me up.
haha get it fitted!!
I loved the video very much. Ur excitement really came thru. So did your throttle happy attitude!!! Hahahhahaha i love it whenever i mod my bikes and the gains are noticeable and it sounds wicked!!! Ride safe on em salty roads!!! Keep em mods coming!!! Love the videos...
Cheers from Va in the US. Can't believe all the mods you've done and going to do. Carbon wheels and carbon bits will do wonders. Keep up the great videos!!!
Great to see and hear the improvements! I’ve now gone an pulled the trigger on a full system.
FYI - 2.0 has stiffer springs and a re-valved shock.
Ah have you? Thought you were worried about track noise? I've found another baffle which fits in the Akro one so think I will be able to get it down too track legal levels... Hopefully!!
I’m still worried about track noise but 80% of riding will be on the road. Hopefully a fist full of wadding will help out, but I would be interested to hear about this baffle you’ve found.
Its the one from the Akro on the blade, will need some slotting but will then slot inside and should provide some extra baffling... What the bike will run like is another matter haha
Hi I have been following the mods on the KTM, bought mine last year. Great videos and thought about time i subscribed. Keep up the the good work.
Thanks matey!! New ep coming hopefully next week :-)
Great to see all the mods worked for you looks like a perfect road bike
Favorite line “ She is a bit naughty now!” Can’t wait to see what is to come.
thanks Eric!
Hi Lamb Chop, we've already spoken, i'm the guy who lives in the s/w of France & as I explained I've already had 2 1st generation 1290's & now proud owner of 2nd gen 1290. Since May 2017 iv'e clocked up about 10,000 K mostly in Spain & the main difference I've noticed in the handling is I find it a lot easier to keep up with my son (mt 09) & a mate new street triple in the mountains & twisties & once we get to the valleys & canyons & generally quicker bends 160 to 200kph they start to struggle. It's difficult to say if the new 1290 is better but I think It makes me feel more confident. Really love the quickshifter especially down shifts. Great videos & don't forget my previous invitation if you ever come down this way.
Very interesting Gary for the insight, I think the new one the power is more accessible perhaps and the electronics are better and control the delivery better perhaps.. Certainly the wheelie control allows better control of the front wheel. I am actually planning a trip to Spain with Womble early May, perhaps ferry to Bilbao, bit of Spain then back via south of France, bit of Italy then up Austria back to the UK. About a weeks riding. Perhaps we could meet up and you show us some decent roads? :-)
I agree the electronics make it easier to ride but it's lost a little of that mechanical roar the 1st had. I truly love the 1290's & you can sit on it all day long with no aches or pains, a beast when you want or even cruise when the mood takes. Sounds good to meet up, I live in Pau about 2h.30 from Bilbao. Some of the best roads in Spain are directly south from where I live... Jaca, Ainsa. Here's one of my son's(Le Canard Enragé) many videos to give you a little taste of our rides in Spain & i'm just behind.ruclips.net/video/NM1UrhmSWw8/видео.html.
Lovely job John, doing those mods and what you are planning to do must be so rewarding and such bloody good fun. So addictive to carry on doing stuff to it, gotta be done. Love the vids watching the bike evolve.👍🏻✊️😎🏍
Thanks very much Mike, yes certainly from this quick ride last week Im excited for the summer :-)
Sounds amazing brother! 👍
Sounds bloody brilliant too mate!!
Thanks Andy, it does sounds rather splendid!!
Love your work! I’ve got the billet Motohooligan airbox and Healtech Q/S otherwise we’re at the same stage of this journey into lunacy! Good to hear your demented giggling when you open the taps, that never gets old I can tell you. Outstanding idea to compare to the newer model, I’ve been wrestling with do I “upgrade” or carry on modding my Mk1 which I think looks better anyway; can’t wait to see the next instalment
Thanks very much Simon, will borrow the 2.0 again as interested to see how the suspension is again as much as anything..
Lamb Chop Rides from the reviews when it was launched I think they stiffened up the springs a little bit at both ends but not by much
Love you're intro and you're bikes not bad as well 😂😂😂
You've gotta love the intake sound of a v twin!
Yes yes chop OMG that bike is sounding sexy as hell looking good to can't wait for the rest of the videos, very lucky guy, just take it easy fella.
I've done that. taken the plate off during cleaning and "forgot" to put it back on before heading out. Nice one 👌👍
Yeah thankfully didnt get to far before I stopped and noticed :-)
I got quite a way before noticing, but living up in the north, that kind of knobheadishness is half expected.
Love the videos. Looking forward to a comparison between the SDR and SDR2 as I have an SDR2 🤙
Nice. Love the 1290R
Perfection!!! I told you the Rottweiler stage 5 is a hooot
Yup you were absolutely correct :-)
“Fired from a CANNON “ love it.
Time to raffle that bike for charity. Well done sir. KTech did a great job with my Ninja back in the day
Awesome stuff, I would love to do that to any bike, must feel amazing to make such changes.
Great update, shame ktec didn’t set up the suspension I would have thought part of the service! Really looking forward to the weight saving as the subject is close to my heart with my fat Speed Triple
Thanks matey, yeah I think its because noone makes any alternate front springs and you cannot adjust the preload on them. So they set the rear to match the front as wasnt much else they could do..
You deserve more subs tbfh....rlly nice content =). Keep trolling the roads mate.
I love to hear the beast bark.
I wish we were neighbours. I'd just offer to hold the camera for free in exchange with just learning how to do whatever I want in motorcycle mechanics. You carry on and this duke will fly.
OMG you replied I'm so happy rn thx mate you made my day
Super done...love the bike. For the waith issue I think Gym😁💪
Sure sounded wonderful sir
Only good thing about winter riding.. bikes get a little cold air boost :)
Man that looks like a lot of fun :D
Great to hear the excitement vid ✊️✊️
Thanks matey :-)
Very tasty, can’t wait to see it with all that CF amazingness on it! 😮😎👍
Cheers matey :-)
Chocolate salty balls Chops. Love it. Those break reservoirs are horrid though.
Loved every minute.
Nice! 😁. I'm going to swap the standard airfilter on my little cbr for a K&N. Curious what that will do. Summer needs to hurry up now. ☀🏍. Enjoy da animal, and ride safe 👍.
To make any real difference you need an exhaust and some tuning but worth trying :-) noise will be better thats for sure!!
The noise will be better 🤔
Oh my poor poor neighbors.
😂. ( Got a race exhaust on it btw).
Intro so awesome
It dawned on me recently that a smartphone is also a data logger. First will come a massive hike in your insurance if they see you way over the limit regularly. Leave it at home
didnt realise insurance companies own access to phone tracking information, not to mention they can pin point the person/bike and insurance policy? oh wait, no they cant, because that would be a huge data protection breach if they could.
Your not right in the Head !! Thanks for the video, i will be subscribing.
Hehe thanks 😁
good to see that your speedometer is in KPH *wink wink
NO NUMBER PLATE LOL I TRULY LOVE YOU MATE:)
A spritely ride! Sounds gorgeous.
Thanks buddy 👍
Hey Chops. I like what you have done to the SD. I have the 2.0, we communicated a while back. I find the suspension ok on the sport settings but may do it later in the year like yours, but it’s all money. I have just put a link pipe on to get rid of the cat, it’s slightly bespoke as I have shortened that, fitted a Bodis high level link pipe and AR can. Tomorrow it gets the AKra map and at some point I will put it on the Dyno. I have blinged it a bit with painted wheels and a clear clutch cover. May do the Rottweiler later in year as well after seeing your video, not sure if it will affect the warranty. I think that would be next but then need power commander so cash flow will impact as well. It’s not a like for like and don’t think I’m going to be able to afford that but comparison with yours will be interesting. Keep safe. Harry
It’s a shame KTM void the warranty if you use a link pipe or Rottweiler kit...
Jim 86 I didn't think they void warranty on a link pipe as my mate has a brand new one co.e out of the dealer with a link pipe on it
Bikes sounding trick Mark!! Be interested to see how loud it is with the exhaust.. Do like the high level pipes which show off the wheel but dont like things silly loud :-)
I emailed KTM direct and they replied stating any non-PowerPart modifications will void the warranty, including a link pipe. If you have a friendly dealer you should be okay but it’s worth checking 👍
Lamb Chop Rides it is a bit loud but I aim to put a baffle in the link pipe to further reduce the noise, £5.99 on eBay 😁
If you are going to change out to carbon wheels you should talk to k-tech to see if your recent shock work needs adapting. Lighter wheels is going to change rebound settings from the norm.
Steve Cade yeah agree with you on that, and surely they would have set up the sag when the rest of the suspension has been sorted. But fuck does that thing fly. Just need the warmer weather to exploit its full potential. Making it lighter is going to allow it to handle much better and more horse power.
I did say that to them Steve and they shock their heads and said it wont make much difference ... I guess we will see
Lamb Chop Rides Interesting. They are the experts. Let us know what your bum says once you have those swanky wheels though.
You’re brave mines staying garage until temp reaches at least double figures and the salt fooks off I’ve seen how much they’ve dumped on the roads around Pompey area
Yeah I couldnt help myself haha
No number plate? Not a problem when you're on a Super Duke.... ;)
175bhp to the wheel, giving the 12% rule that's a couple hp off 200 to the crank. what a machine!! would like to get my gen1 mille dynod just to see what power it's pumping out, nothing compared to the beast tho ha
BHP is at the crank WHP or RWHP is at the wheel.
NEW ZEALAND TRAILRIDING didn't know that but I put to the wheel so it makes sence
Yeah it must be close to 200 at the crank! quite crazy and would love beasty in the dust in a drag race haha.
george p I had a Mille R 2002 model year. Did everything to it, and I mean everything. Got about 140 at the back wheel which in 2003/4 was pretty shit hot. It handled brilliantly and power was all in the right places but Christ it cost a lot to get it there. Very rewarding. I got a new 2004 factory and couldn’t get much more out of it with the accompanying mountain of money.
Mike Stewart mine is a 2002 as well what mods did you do mine is basically stock has k&n and can that's about it. brown wire mod too so doesn't munch threw batterys ha
What a beast!
Cool video again ! rebound heavy like slow i guess .. i personally think i got my suspension ok . Its on the limit for trackdays but it works i often ride in fast group . Anyway stock settings in sport is not balanced front vs rear so the bike is a bit unstable in corners , but most of it disappears with diffrent settings . And 80 -90 kg i suppose is max weight for riders 🏍😋
How much did they charge to sort the suspension and installation of the power commander and dyno etc etc ?
I just dropped 2.5KG’s with a new exhaust. But gained 2.5KG’s over the holidays 😂
Was a super duke now Unleash the super beast .
Top work Choplets. ;-)
Gotta be the best looking Super Duke out there its bloody gorgeous Sean Chops! One question why didnt they set up the suspension according to your weight and did you not mention that to them at the time ? Id be very surprised if you didnt ! Love you vids Sean ❤️
Thanks matey, shes rather smashing I have to admit :-) I think Ktech didnt setup the sag for weight because the forks have no preload adjustment, nothing they could do with the frontend.. So they set the rear to match the frontend which kind of makes sense
Your amazing bud
Sounds lovely 👍
A comparison with my 17 would be better as they have similar mods now. Might even let you take the H2 for a short spin 🙈
haha now your taking Jamie!! :-) Yeah that would be a good comparison, perhaps a little meetup when the weather improves ;-)
Lamb Chop Rides sounds good 👍
Well i believe your disclaimer about forgetting to put on your number plate. I am sure the dibble will be just as convinced. Hahahahahahahah.
Jesus this bike it's like an angry animal hahahah i love it!
I think I need that intake
So, you’ve got 2.5 rear wheel horsepower for every mile of speed you can legally ride at in the UK.
Have you considered emigrating to a less restrictive country?
Ronan Rogers Germany is the only country with un restricted roads in Europe
Moe Lester ...yep, that’s where my 1290 SA is registered. I lived there for several years, and now I just spend summers there, and summers in the Southern Hemisphere. I’ll be heading back in late April to prepare for my trip through Norway, Russia, the Stan’s and Mongolia return
Nice chopsy, good job 👍she goes like stink mate 😉
Im looking at buy a super duke r in 2020 as im going travelling first. Anything to look out for and any particular year that is better as you seem to k ow your stuff .
Badass intro
You sure your number plate wasn't somewhere in that tactical vest?
It was the only thing which wasnt in the vest haha
Looks a hoot sir..
Thanks Jay it sure is!!
Lamb, why did you go with the race gas cap? I did as well and I love it
Hi What do you. Prefer the supper duke or the aprilia tuono factory. ??? That duke looks a nice piece of kit, please do tell kind regards Simon.
Tuono is a lovely bike but as Im a larger rider the Super duke is more comfortable than the Tuono. Duke is a slightly better road bike Tuono is more of a track weapon. Think of the Super Duke as a big Supermoto the Tuono as a sports bike with high bars
Very well put, this is what you tell people who wonder which bike is better.
Super duper video, a small correction, the rubber is pirelli diablo rosso 3, not rosso corsa, rosso corsas are a little bit better. Great vlogs!!
Thanks very much and yes well spotted! :-)
Had Rosso Corsas on my 959, only lasted 1500 road miles but very grippy, Rosso 3’s are perhaps a better all rounder and definitely superior in the wet 👍
No problem, keep posting those superb videos!
G man, yes a friend of mine had rosso corsas on his heavily moded cbr 600rr (PC dunno wich one...., lowered head, sport exhaust, different sprockets and cam, etc), didn't last 1000 miles of his brutal riding on street, he even said few years ago that rosso corsas are the best, but then he was introduced to supercorsa SP... you know the drill now, he doesn't ride any other tyre.... i have rosso 3s now on my smcr 690, and i must say that i am quite surprised what the tyre is capable of. They grip cold right away, quite good grip in the corners, i would say i am quite a guy who leans the bike properly... one thing i can't figure out is, i have a feeling they are slipping all the time, but they really doesn't, i think the compound of rosso 3 are meant for supersport, which are considerably heavier than ktm 690r. i have more confidence in rosso 3s when i ride with my girlfriend... dunno whats the problem.
blaz otonicar , will let you know what I think on the Rosso 3’s when I get my Monster next week, although the big test will come in June when we rip up the roads of the Spanish Pyrenees, think you maybe right about the weight of your bike, a tyre has to give you the confidence to ride hard without worrying about loosing traction 😬
Like Button Smashed!
Damn still good to see ur shit bro
Love it Chops!! What a sound...... but how much would it cost to do all mods??? Dymags aint cheap!!!. Looks a riot to ride.🤣🤣👍👍👍
Been lucky Mark as because of the youtube exposure and features in PB ive manged to get some great deals. No way I could afford it otherwise!
Lamb Chop Rides.......will you be doing a costing in pb mag in the near future. Thinking of getting a superduke but not sure about new or used!!!..... really like the tft dash on new bike!.... sad i know. Fantastic vids keep up the great work!!👍👍👍👍😁😁
Great job man! Whattya think of the noise it makes now compared to the Tuono? I’m getting off my S10000XR this summer and I’m thinking of the Tuono, SuperDuke, and The S1000r
I don't know if the S1000R will make you happy. I'm selling mine S1000R to get the Super Duke or the XR. Good luck my friend
Gotta be the sdr or the tueno for power and torque
Its a very different noise Kyle, I love the sound of the V4 Tuono its incredible. I would say they are equally as nice as each other just different. S1000R is nice but I prefer Vtwins or V4 for engine character, just gives a naked bike a bit more torque which is what you need.
Now change your transmission from 17 / 38 to 17 / 40 and you're in heaven.
From 9:17 to 9:20? Slippery clutch?
Doesn't sound like it, he could add the GT springs if he hasn't already. This bike is notorious for a slippery clutch.
Yes I didnt notice it but know it could start slipping with the power its pushing now. GT springs to go in if it does :-)
I've got the GT springs in and the slipping is over till now.
nice intro mate
are you a bit scared of the duke now chops? shes gonna be a real beast for this summer I bet with the weight loss upgrades boosting the power to weight ratio even further.
haha yeah going to take some getting used to with the TC off.. Its all fun though :-) Yeah Im a bit worried the wheels are going to make it ridiculous haha
Lamb Chop Rides you'll love it though.👍
Did you get the PC from Rottweiller as a plug and play?
Your local to me as well, off to Loomies?
Thank you for replying 👍 thank you for your thoughts also. I'm 5,10 ft 13,8 stone Iv test road the new tuono factory but not the supper duke,?? Do you think I should Bear it in mind and give it a test ride. I've been used to Gsxr 750 GP, but want something more comfortable and upright. If you wouldn't mind giving me your thoughts thank you. kind regards Simon
You should certainly try one both are fantastic bikes. All depends on if you like V-twin or not 😎 I love them
I see so many -do-one sitting off to one side on their bikes, don’t know if it’s a bad back/hip thing or they are just totally oblivious, it a bit like ladies wearing hard hats, they are never straight, always cocked lol!
What helmet you wearing bro?
sounds good mr LCR 👍 which one of the two speed angle laptimer you got ?
It's the Gen 2 one 👍
I see that your dark visor arrived. How are you liking the AGV then?
Yes its nice, only downside is steaming in cold or wet weather.. Think its going to be a summer helmet
You could always fit air/con 😂
Hey Chops, thanks for the great videos!!! I have the SDR 2.0. Is it worth investing in the factory/power parts triple clamp? Does it make that big of a difference? Thanks buddy!
Hi Stephen, no real difference in performance it's really only a cosmetic thing. If your on slicks on track then maybe a tiny bit but really just looks better 👍
how did you adjust the front suspension, so as not to have vibrations on the holes for rigid carbon wheels?and how much do you weight?thanks
And ended at loomies I've heard and seem quiet a bit of this place and wanted to go but 300miles of motorway doesn't sound fun . Same as you coming here to dynojet lol
This was recorded on a Friday at about 15:00, its gets busy in the summer at the weekend but I wouldn't travel 300 miles to get there, its not that good :-)
Lamb Chop Rides aye I've been it in other videos when the baron has been there it's crammed . I may get there at some point I fancy going isle of white at some time
Tuonoooooo any day
What kind of mic setup are you using? The sound is great! (The vids are good too. 😉)
/Fellow SuperDuker
Still in awe of 175whp
What year is your bike chops?
How much is way more powerful 🤔1% 2% ???
about 8% and a much stronger torque curve.
Have a look at the dynojet video it's all in there 👍
nice
Are you allowed to remove the catalytic converter in the uk and use the bike on the road?
Not really Alex and at MOT it could be picked up. Duke Akro still have a small collector box though which looks like a cat at least 😂
Sooo want this bike 🚀 fast
Good Morning Lamb Chop! I wanted to ask you a question you can help me with. I too have lost the small ball that helps you put your kickstand down on my 17' 1290 superduke r. Were you able to find a replacement for this without having to buy a whole new side stand kit?
Nope I didnt Jackson, I just used a long bolt in it for now and does the job just looks a bit shit haha
Lamb Chop Rides ...as a heads up... you can order just that peice instead of the whole stand. It was $11 USD. Going to throw some loc tite on it this go round.
@@LambChopRides what are the dyno stats for this 1290 with mods?
Ok Chopsy, enough is enough! I HATE you! You have single handily made me go and spend £16 beans of a brand new Superduke with some kit. I pick her up on the first. I hope you are happy with yourself! 😜
Keep up the great work on your channel mate. More touring this year perhaps? If you are ever up in Scotland let me know and I'll come out of a razz. Keep it inside the white lines big guy.
haha NICE!!!! Your going to love it! Yeah will be some touring this year and would love to do Scotland! Will be some PB French trip videos starting next week and Spanish trip planned for May on the Duke with Womble on his new bike. Really excited about that one :-)
where is your mirrors dude
left them at home with the number plate!
Is there no headline cowl for the bike, help with air flow for such a powerful naked?
No and a screen does spoil the look Imo.. touring in Spain on it next month so may add one for that only..
Firstly chops you can definitely hear more induction bark 👌. Bet your lid looks the tits with the bike (obviously we can only see one at a time). Carbon wheels are the way forward apparently.. I’m also a big fan of “44teeth” and watched one of their videos recently and don’t quote me but I think they were getting 1.2 sec quicker laps with them which in track terms is a feckin lot especially for the money. Just wish I could afford a set lol. Another good one chops 🤘
Yes I watched the 44teeth carbon wheels vid, Im going to be doing something similar on track with swapping wheels over and using the datalogger. Im no track wiz so if even I can see improvement then its a worthwhile upgrade for anyone!
Lamb Chop Rides yeah that data logger looks the nads..il look forward seeing it in action 🤘
