- Still winging our way across the Pyrenees in awe of the incredible twisty mountain roads. This has to be one of the best days riding of my life! Lots & lots of twisties included but I wanted to show just what fabulous riding is available. Unfortunately Wombles helmet mic wasn't working so very annoying & just my ramblings included.
I know its not big or clever so apologies for the amount of wheelies in this episode but its just to much fun!
Next time it will be a bit more coherent, clip at the end is from the German Autobahn FYI

Yeah I was going to trim this EP right down but those roads deserve to be seen :-) My Duke is heavily modded and lightened as you know so not really a fair comparison. On really tight stuff Duke is more supermoto setup so does work better. Tuono geometry is very sportsbike so doesnt do really tight stuff that well.

Haha!! More like you found an inferior rider to make the duke look good. An equal rider on the Tuono would slowly pass the KTM. I do love your vids though Lambchops!! 👍

Lamb Chop Rides it doesn't have to be 100% accurate but knowing the road numbers and towns/villages that you were heading for would be nice. Love your content by the way, I'll be chopping in Ktm 640 supermoto for one of those 1290's

I'll tel you a funny story about a man with a 'stop' sign, I was winding my way down a steep mountain track between Spain and Portugal when round a bend there was a short tailback of cars and a guy in a high vis controlling traffic, the roads were all blind bends and we couldn't see the road works ahead. We were the last in the queue of cars and as we came level with start of the contraflow the high vis stopped us and handed my missus on the back a flower and said something in foreign which neither Sue or I understood, but Sue was very pleased and was saying how nice the guy was to have given her the flower. I went forward and round a bend the roadworks came into view, I was thinking about that flower and I realised that it was a sign to be passed to the high vis on the uphill side traffic flow that we were the last to be let through on the downhill direction and the uphill flow was safe to proceed. I in turn stopped next to the high vis and told Sue to give the guy the flower which she refused to do not understanding it's purpose, I pressed her and she eventually gave it up. To this day Sue still does not accept my explanation of what that flower was for, she still sticks to her belief that it was for her, women!

N260 near Andorra is amazing. Just been there with the 1290 GT. Weather was shite most of the time but the GT just doesn't cares

Would love to do a petrol station tour like this but it probably costs an arm and a leg. And yeah there are some very nice roads here in UK but if you time it wrong you will be stuck behind cars all the way
Yeah it was expensive, think with tolls and garage drink stops it was about £500 alone... does add up
These are the best roads... rode these 2 years ago and have booked the ferry for end Sept 2018 for a blast around Spain & Portugal... a little different from you two, as we're camping all the way. No need to worry about when we stop.... Looking forward to watching the next EP04... Would like to see a bit more of that Aprilia Tuono as I'm thinking of part ex against my Repsol... What do you think?
You lucky bugger I cant wait to go back, yeah unfortunately the mic on Wombles helmet didnt work so lost all his audio. We do swap bikes and I give some insights to the Tuono later on. I love them, swap the Repsol tomorrow :-)
I will be going down the N260 and some of it's side roads twice this August going and returning from Portugal, taking a huge detour just for the fun of it. Just change the tires on the r1100gs for a set of PR4's. Enjoy your trip.

I'm after some guidance on wheelying the bike. What gear and speed are you doing when you twist the throttle on and power wheelie like that? Also is that in street or sport mode? Thanks.
SD1290 power wheelie: twist throttle in first and second gear (any rpm) and third gear (when you are above 7000 rpm).
What helmet have you got as you cant hear any wind noise , only from the V4 owner, and do you have bike to bike coms if so what make and what are they like, Cool vids x
Thanks Sean, its a AGV X8 carbon and is very good for helmet audio. Yes coms is done with Sena 20S, they are a great intercom highly recommended
How come your bikes were super clean throughout the whole video.
Yeah they look clean but up close they are dirty, not too bad and we were fairly lucky with the weather.

Yes its a big improvement over stock without doubt. There is no way I could have done more than 2 hours on the standard one!!

Yes flashing light is the ABS mode, also says "not road legal" when you turn it on. You need the dongle to be able to put it in that mode however. The warning light is because it came up due a service :-(

No I haven't, I've tried the Conti attack on the 701 but they are a very soft sticky rubber.

Anyone else get pretty bad shake in the bars under acceleration?
Like a speed wobble type shake? Wonder if something is sideways with your steering dampener? I haven't had any issues with my 2015 yet.
Spazz I have a brand new 2015. Only 1300 miles. I have heard the oil could be thicker in the dampener. I think it’s just the wind tbh.

Hey everyone I need some serious help: next year I am finally buying a new bike. It’s between the 1290R and 1290Gt. The R1200Gs was an option yet people keep telling me they keep braking down and are way behind in engine power. I am wondering how the 1290R is for long rides and riding it in the rain since it’s a naked bike. Also, is there a huge difference in engine reliability between the 1290R and 1290Gt due to different engine components yet being the LC8 in both? Thank you for whomever can help and or advise with this
For your kind of use, the bike I recommand you is the KTM 1290 SuperAdventure, the craziest trail motorbike you can have.
IssaTrayz thank you for the reply! I do like the SA yet not in love with the body style. I do love the 1290Gt or how it looks at least, yet trying to make an educated decision since I’m spending a lot of money regardless and I plan to only spend it once 🤗
