Hi Tony, another great video.. many thanks. I’m heading off to Slovenia and Austria this week on the bike and I’ve found a great way to stay hydrated is a water bladder inside a tank bag. You can poke the tube out of the front and take a sip without having to stop. 👍🏻🏍️
@@laterrider For your next trip how about the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland with the Causeway Coast added on for good measure. It's much longer than you might think (1600 miles plus the Causeway Coast on top) and the scenery is fabulous.
Hi. Thanks for relaxed way you present your videos. Here is a suggestion for another trip: Norway. Riding in Norway is a continous wow moment hour after hour after hour. Been there 4 times with my GSA but it´s not enough...
Great series and some excellent tips! My wife and I are planning a trip to the Pyrenees next year on the strength of these. Hydration is something we all suffer from not doing properly on long trips, so I have just bought myself a small Camelbak so I can have a drink without stopping (until I need a pee anyway!). Looking forward to your next trip!
I love the idea of getting a Camelbak - never heard of them before (just googled it). Thanks for your kind words and I hope you have a wonderful time in the Pyrenees 😃
@@laterrider The Camelbak recommendation is one I picked up from On The Road Adventure so I can’t claim any credit for it, but they fill them with ice if it’s really hot so they have a cold drink as it melts.
Hydrating is so important. I can imagine that many accidents or near misses come from drinking too little. Dehydration affects your concentration, your strength, your mood, your reactions, and it happens so quickly on a bike. We are practically constantly confronted with heat from the sun plus we loose sweat simply from moving our machine. Since I used to ride a mountainbike quite a lot I made it my rule that I carry 1lt of water for every 1 hour of riding. On the bike I put minimum 3lt into my tankbag and stop every hour or so for refreshing and enjoying the landscape. Works for me.
Tony, it may have already been asked but could you do a generic "How to use GPT to plan your route" video for us less IT fluent please? Also, excellent filtering with side boxes as you neared the ferry 🤜🤛
Good video, and yeah, drink water...I also forget, to my own detriment! Where to go next...have you been to the Dolomites? I've been to a few areas on the bike around Europe, but the Dolomites still rank as the best. You've got to time it right - probably no earlier than mid-June - but yeah, totally spectacular area, especially if you throw in a day or two in northern Slovenia, which is possibly even more beautiful!!
Yes Tony, hydration is a must mate ! Love the vids and content as it's fantastic seeing places we've been and enjoyed in the past ! Just an idea for you dude, the alps, dolomites and Italy especially Lake Como 😃 it'll blow your mind seriously ! Safe travels. My friend and look forward to more of your great stuff ! 😎🏍👍👍
What a wonderful message - you’ve absolutely made my day 😃 I love the idea of the dolomites and maybe around lake Como that would be an AMAZING ride! Thank you for watching my stuff - much appreciated 😊
Hi Tony - new subscriber and thoroughly enjoy your videos - you have a very welcoming way with your presenting and appreciate how you ride for you and within your limits - exactly the same approach with my own riding. Great information and great channel - thank you.
Really like your presenting style. Very conversational and relaxed. Easy to listen to. Agree with the other comments ref GoPro. Awful cameras. Have changed to DJi Action camera 4 and it’s a game changer. Easier menus, longer battery life and less failures. Keep up the vids. Ref suggestions for another trip what about around Ypres. Lots of history, lots of sites to video, great bars and hospitable people
Thanks so much for your VERY kind comment and for your suggestion of Ypres. I've never considered there before but it would clearly make an excellent destination and so thank you for the suggestion - let me see when I can work it in :-)
I HAVE enjoyed your vlogs- and despite having been to Pyrenees last few years- you highlighted the Pic Du Midi which I will visit next month. Good footage, good dialogue, Good tips, no drama - Keep it up ! 👍
It’s lovely to see your new tour, I missed seeing video uploads from you. I’m so happy you had such a lovely trip and thank you for sharing it with us 😃. For your next trip I definitely recommend Switzerland 🇨🇭, I’m from there and would be happy to provide you some route ideas :)
Wow, thank you so much for your very kind words - they mean a lot! 😃 Switzerland would be a stunning place to take the bike - however - my wife and I did a road tour (sadly in a car) there end of last year so it may be a couple of years before I go back on the bike. But you’re so right of course… a totally stunning place! 😃

Have to admit I would have been nervous riding down those pedestrianised streets, been a great series, I’m just a watcher not a vlogger but they all seem to be switching away from GoPro and onto DJI’s, …Switzerland / Alps / Dolomites next time?
Sorry to hear about your audio problems. We suffered similar issues some years ago with Gopro. The simple answer is move away from Gopro kit. We've been using DJI Action 3 & 4 cameras. They've been totally reliable through several tours. Always sad heading home after a trip and lessons are always learnt. I will still take some convincing to let chatgpt plan my route. Enjoyed your vids
brilliant vlog 👍. What was the audio problem? I had the same problem with gopro and moved over to DJI Action 4. No problems since. I also bought the DJI MIC and later, the DJI Mic 2. The beauty is you can record your audio on the mic just in case. That said, having moved over to DJI, I have never needed to use the audio captured in the microphone which is good news.
It was the connection between the lavalier mic in my helmet and the GoPro - very annoying 😕 Can I ask… With the Mic 2 do you connect wirelessly to the Action 4? If so, roughly how long do you get before the Mic 2 battery dies?
@@laterrider yes, I connect the mic 2 wireless. I bought the mic 2 microphone by itself and it cost around £90. The battery lasts about 8 hours which for me, is about a week. The mic has noise reduction however, I tend not to use it as the ambience of the ride disappears. The new action 5 comes out in 2 weeks. I suspect the action 4 could be purchased for less than £300 in a month or two. Does this help?
Thanks so much - that really helps! If the new Action 5 is coming out that’s my cue to buy it and switch away from GoPro. Thank you for your help - very much appreciated 😃
Hi, I wear a similar setup to you, Rukka jacket, Helite vest but with a pillion so I bought a water bladder with a long hose and have it in my tank bag so every 30 mins I can take a swig, Regarding routes, pop across to the Eifel area of Germany then follow the Moselle river down to the Vosges mountains before heading through the Black Forest avoiding the B500 down to the Rheinfalls. Head back over to the Vosges and up towards Eguisheim or Colmar then across to Revin in the Parc des Ardennes. Hope this is at least food for thought. Regards Jay
Great stuff. Really enjoyed this series. I'm also a later rider, only having passed my test at age 52! I've done a fair few trips since then, furthest flung being New Zealand. But Europe is great though with a huge variety of landscapes in a relatively small area. Austria, the Dolomites, the classic Swiss passes (Furka, Grimsel, Susten) were all brilliant. The Picos is a fantastic destination, though... a short ride from Santander and more than enough superb roads to keep you entertained for a week. And relatively quiet too, traffic-wise. And if you fancy going further afield, you have (within a couple days ride) the Pyrenees, Portugal and Galicia (Santiago de Compostela being a highlight in that area). The world's yer lobster basically! Have fun doing some research! 😊👍
Great series... Again! Shame about the audio but that's GoPro for you. I know the picture quality is excellent but reliability leaves a lot to be desired. More and more seem to be moving to the DJI Osmo. Really enjoy your videos. In the spirit of breaking out of your comfort zone, maybe try a winter tour or a fly and hire trip? Perfect viewing with a brew in the morning before getting in the pool 😄
