The other side of motorcycling. Big expensive motorcycles and big name very expensive riding gear. The motorcycle salesman’s dream. As a solo rider you do not need to tour on a big, expensive, heavy motorcycle, just as much or even more fun and enjoyment can be had with a mid range bike. Good quality riding gear doesn’t have to have big basically designer names either there’s a lot of excellent equipment out there at a fraction of the cost. There is also no need to spend anything like £102 a night to stay comfortably in France. Videos like this can influence people but posts like yours talking about Multistradas and thousands of pounds of gear making it sound as though that’s the sort of investment they need to make will make them think again.

Hi Glen, to be honest I don’t really like the Garmin - my phone is so much easier to use and more intuitive. With regards to booking places - with my first trip I booked a lot of hotels well in advance but with this latest trip I largely turned up in a town and THEN only looked for somewhere. I guess that’s one of the advantages of going slightly out of season 😊

But I wear bifocals. are those progressive lens so you can't see the lines? Hi Tony - really been enjoying your videos keep up the good work, shame about the loss of sound but the rest does make up for that. I do have a question. I’m quite religious in finding safe parking for my bike, underground or a minimum of a private carpark however I notice on some of your hotel overnight stays. Your bike is parked away from the hotel and sometimes on the main roads, are you simply more relaxed than me or do you have a mega Security system? Again, thanks for the great videos liked and subscribed 👍

Hi Kevin - I totally get your concerns. I guess my view on this is that I do have a very good lock, the bike is alarmed and of course insured. Touch wood I haven't had any problems yet :-)

It was the connection between the lavalier mic in my helmet and the GoPro - very annoying 😕 Can I ask… With the Mic 2 do you connect wirelessly to the Action 4? If so, roughly how long do you get before the Mic 2 battery dies?

A local here droping some my-2-cents suggestions. First and foremost: glad you enyoy visiting! 1- I'd ditch gopro. Even being myself a long term customer, they justo don't do the cut anymore. Unreliablity can ruin your day...or trip. Finding a corruted card with no footage is just infuriating. 2- nice to know, although a bit late. I had some laser shot at my eyes long time ago to fix some bat-blindness, and that would have great 3- camelback! even on tarmac indeed. Huge for those as me that like non-stop riding in summer. Literally life saver, both for avoiding heat strokes (a lad next table collapsed less than a month ago in a road restaurant in Alps, imagine that while riding) but also unoticed performance and awareness degradation while riding that puts you at real risk. 4- interesting! For new people visiting Pyrenees, I would suggest checking Route Des Cols, French official site , in lespyrenees dotnet. It is just brilliant. Sorry if repeated, I just landed in this channel today. 5- actually, my British friends use weather-forecast dotcom to ride across Spain chasing the sun every summer, and I switched myself to that one. Somehow that thing tends to be right, and the 12 days prediction is quite useful to prepare in advance. bonus one related to the previous one - I guess everybody knows but searching accomodation in Booking can save big money when low in budget. I use it more in Alps and far from home, but sure it also applieds. Not booking in advance provides huge flexibility when having good weather is a priority. Cheers!

Sack the go pros, they are so temperamental!! I’ve done a few (rubbish) vids that I’ll never make public and the audio has always been a problem. DJI for me from now on as off through the Elan Valley soon but I’ll still not make them public due to my rubbish editing skills. Love watching your vids though, please keep them coming!

Sorry to hear about your audio problems. We suffered similar issues some years ago with Gopro. The simple answer is move away from Gopro kit. We've been using DJI Action 3 & 4 cameras. They've been totally reliable through several tours. Always sad heading home after a trip and lessons are always learnt. I will still take some convincing to let chatgpt plan my route. Enjoyed your vids

Hydrating is so important. I can imagine that many accidents or near misses come from drinking too little. Dehydration affects your concentration, your strength, your mood, your reactions, and it happens so quickly on a bike. We are practically constantly confronted with heat from the sun plus we loose sweat simply from moving our machine. Since I used to ride a mountainbike quite a lot I made it my rule that I carry 1lt of water for every 1 hour of riding. On the bike I put minimum 3lt into my tankbag and stop every hour or so for refreshing and enjoying the landscape. Works for me.

I always thought drinking too much caused accidents, 'don't ever drink and drive'😆

Great series... Again! Shame about the audio but that's GoPro for you. I know the picture quality is excellent but reliability leaves a lot to be desired. More and more seem to be moving to the DJI Osmo. Really enjoy your videos. In the spirit of breaking out of your comfort zone, maybe try a winter tour or a fly and hire trip? Your series release seem to coincide with my stay in our apartment in Portugal. Watched a series last August and same again this year. Perfect viewing with a brew in the morning before getting in the pool 😄

Your message has made my day Dave!!! Thanks so much! 😃 Funnily enough I’m probably going to switch to Osmo Action cameras - everyone just seems to think they’re now better than GoPro 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@laterrider cheers! I feel like there's a certain 'honesty' to your videos. Very authentic and mature. Some vloggers are clearly in it for the likes (not necessarily a bad thing!) but yours come across more - "I'm going on this trip anyway so why not come along for the ride". Great viewing.

Great stuff. Really enjoyed this series. I'm also a later rider, only having passed my test at age 52! I've done a fair few trips since then, furthest flung being New Zealand. But Europe is great though with a huge variety of landscapes in a relatively small area. Austria, the Dolomites, the classic Swiss passes (Furka, Grimsel, Susten) were all brilliant. The Picos is a fantastic destination, though... a short ride from Santander and more than enough superb roads to keep you entertained for a week. And relatively quiet too, traffic-wise. And if you fancy going further afield, you have (within a couple days ride) the Pyrenees, Portugal and Galicia (Santiago de Compostela being a highlight in that area). The world's yer lobster basically! Have fun doing some research! 😊👍

Thank you for that video Anthony, great stuff. Feeling a little sad it’s come to an end! I have a sneaky “no protection” moment every now and then when the wife’s not looking… great feeling of freedom and takes me back to the days when health and safety wasn’t a thing😂. A little surprised you’ve joined the woke wave and are now identifying as a motorbike😂 You’re more than welcome to call in if you ever decide to do a tour of the south coast 😄 look forward to the final edit on your no sound vids!
