While I don't think the sequel will ever be as good as this movie I do hope they learn that it needs quiet moments like these for their characters to develop. The fighting is cool, but we only really care because we got to know these people... good and bad.
I absolutely hate Commodus. Hats off to Joaquin for making this character despicable. It can't be easy playing the villain and making himself so hated.
I will avoid watching Gladiator 2 because I don't want to ruin this story. Also, Joaquin Phoenix is a phenomenal actor. You truly hate his face as Commodus with a passion. Thats how good he is.
The real Commudus was bad but was more of a psycho narcissistic jock than the creepy little snake he is in this movie lol i suspect Carciulla is who this character was based off of.
Gladiator 1st part is total classy. Just saw yesterday , the 2nd part, movie was good but not that good as it was with the first movie... And now Scott is writting script for 3rd part of movie😅😅😅
So Commodus wanted to breed with his hot sister… I am pretty sure in Roman society inbreeding was frowned upon, prohibited by law even. Sure as emperor he couldve done as he pleased as he was above the law but bruh…

There are few actors who can make a character so despicable that you want them to die over and over again. Joaquin Phoenix did that with Commodus.
