  • I finally after several coats of clearcoat and base got the Humvee hood done, and finally painted completely…
    Next video we’re going to start putting the whole thing together and get it installed on the humvee for good.

    Love the mat black, but it has convinced me to stick with CARC on my trucks so it's easy to repair and cover if the paint gets damaged and it does not require near the prep work to paint it.

    Now that's an awesome hood!!!! I'm glad you got permission first to paint on the pong table 😂 looks like you got this perfected, do something nice like bathroom sinks for the lady and then ask to paint Humvee parts in the house. It worked out 😉 The driveline will fit once you attach the tank to the body. The straps will need to be longer and spacer blocks added (3"). That is a great driveline job. IF it doesn't fit for some reason and you cannot adjust any more you can CAREFULLY heat the fuel tank and remold it. Heat gun and press the high spots. The older the plastic the harder it gets. As always you are
    Really doing fantastic! Glad to see the jeep is getting some miles, next time if you need a hand have her help you with the service's, well, maybe 🤔😅 🔧

      Given the space and the overall length of the shaft I would've gone with a cv joint style shaft in turn slimming it down even more

    Matte clearcoat is harder to apply than glossy, if you don’t have the right ambient temperature in the room it would not dry even and properly,

    • @SplitBuilds
      @SplitBuilds  Год назад

      Yeah, Matte seems way harder to spray… next to be the body hopefully it goes smoothly.

    • @jailerdiaz
      @jailerdiaz Год назад

      @@SplitBuilds it is coming along pretty nice, for the body make sure your room temperature is above 65 or 70 degrees wen you apply the base coat, give it enough time to dry, otherwise the clear coat will react with the base coat, drying times are paramount with matte clearcoat, also use a heater and leave it running for at least 20 min before separating that way the room temperature will increase and last while you spraying. Do not leave the heater on while you spray, paint fumes are flammable. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🦾🦾

    Temp and Humidity ! Plays a huge factor with your coating.also throw a filter over your vent intake. Space heaters are great too. Keep the vids coming. I just bought my first Humvee. Your a Beast Bro

    I hate to be the bearer of bad news but alot of things can contribute to the finish on matte finish, humidity, temp, how heavy the coat is all of it you would be better off jamming in all the parts on the body putting them on and painting the outside all at once or you'll never be happy with it.

    Hey brother Awesome Job as usual. I’m also doing the same build and following your steps. Can you provide the shafts specs so I can get mine as well. Thanks

      I think I listed it in the video of the measurements. If not, I don’t have it off hand. Just measure from the output shaft to the center of the diff pinion. I just follow the directions from the driveshaft shop. Any driveshaft shop to walk you through it?

    Auto body in the basement and hot tub work bench. Can’t say I could get away with that. Now let’s see you use the dishwasher to clean some parts.

    Hey bud when you put the 2 inch lift on the chassis, can you do it without the body being on their??

    • @SplitBuilds
      @SplitBuilds  Год назад +1

      You should have the body on, it’s horrifically hard to do with the body off I manage to do it, but it’s very sketchy. Usually you want to put the 2 inch spacer on one side at a time with the other wheels on the ground to give counterpressure.

    • @tduncan9938

      OK thanks my friend!!! I’m going to take the body off so I was wondering if I can do it while it’s off thanks!!
