I wouldn't add those diamond plate wheel house covers until they've been thoroughly cleaned. I remember the rust flaking off the underside when you pulled them off. Have them sandblasted, epoxy coated then paint them body color. You don't want that oxidation coming back to ruin this epic build!

Yes we never forget 9/11/01. We are also grateful for you.
I'm glad you took some time for yourself.
I bet your washer pump has a 24 volt motor as well as the windshield wiper motor. If you are converting to a simpler 12 volt system you will have to change them, maybe that will help you get a new reservoir like we know you want.
Keep up the awesome work. It's looking great! Semper Fi

I was thinking about that wiper motor. Not sure what to swap it with. Semper Fi!

@@SplitBuilds same here, Hummer parts guy has the Hummer 12 volt parts (5938822-1) however it looks like a sprague wiper motor you may be able to pick up at O'Reilly's for less than $100.

I remember watching 9 11 happen on the news when I was 9. Thank you for your service.

I was in the Fire service when 9/11 went down. On 11/17/01 a large group of FF and EMT/PARAMEDICS went to NY to deliver fundraiser money from our county to the FDNY. I was with that group and it was humbling to stand in Ground Zero watching one of our own being brought out of the hole in a stokes basket with an American Flag draped over. I have hundreds of pictures from that trip. Every year for me, I have a moment of silence for those lost. Btw, Thank You for your service in the wake of that event!

How likely are you to do this level of rebuild again? Will this be a new side hustle for you, if someone wanted a similar build?

    • @SplitBuilds

Who knows… this is very in depth however I could do it again!

If you want to whiten up old discolored plastic use fill with peroxide and set in the sun, it will whiten up any discolored plastic

You might look into putting a Lokar stainless steel flexible oil dip stick on the build to get it fitted into the build and look good. Should I get my M1152 ready to drop off next? LOL.

My Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a Humvee and is in the process of converting it to a brush truck than can go off-road with water and hose to extinguish fires. Can you suggest a good assembly/service manual or Manuel’s to purchase to make disassembly easier. I appreciate your help.

    • @SplitBuilds

I actually haven’t used any manuals on my builds. Crazy right! All shoved up there in my head! Thanks for your service.

@@SplitBuilds thanks for your comment. So far I’ve just had to figure things out. Almost all body bolts have locking nuts and are a problem, especially those that are inside the body in hard to reach spots.
