DIY Granny Square Crochet Bucket Hat (As Worn By Red Velvet's Joy)

- Learn how to make a granny square bucket hat inspired by the hat Red Velvet's Joy wore in the music video for "Hello (안녕)," her solo debut.
This crochet project is perfect for summer and is pretty easy to make, even for beginners. Many ReVeluvs on SNS (and even on shopping websites!) have tried to recreate this bucket hat in their own way, and I truly admire their creativity. As a crafter myself, I tried my best to keep my version as close to the original. I hope you like it.^^

PS.
I apologise for the volume of the background music. It may be jarring to the ears for some. I'll try my best to improve that aspect in my future videos.
안녕~~^^

Hi!!! Thank u for this tutorial 💗 It was very helpful! I made one yesterday and it’s sooo adorable!!! 😩✋🏻 the only thing I can say about the hat is that the one in the video is more on a M-L size. I made mine without round 5 (crown) and it’s perfect! I usually wear hats that are XS-S. But overall the tutorial is perfect. Thank u again! 💗
Thanks for bringing this up to me! Yes, the hat is pretty customisable, so it's quite easy to adjust for any size. ☺️
i love your tutorial.. thank you! keep uploding
Thank you~ 💕
Perfeito!!! I did It for my child
Hi! Thank u so much for this tutorial. I'll try to make it.
Aww! You're welcome! Happy crocheting!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️ Cloud you teach about a mantle that she’s wearing please.
O poop your tension is probably very tight, because your hats looks like it fits perfectly. I used same hook size and Ines looks huge. Might try again but in a smaller hook size.. very pretty hat though
I made it by following your tutorial and it's so cute :3 (just a little too big but cute anyway~!) I think it was easy to follow :3 so thank you~!
Thank you so much! 💗 I'd love to see your work! If you have an Instagram account, feel free to tag me!
@@FangirlOnTheGo I will~!
Excited 🤩
The moment I seen this hat I loved it, I am making it now, I'll tell you how it came out. I also liked and sub I want to see more of your patterns.
Aww, thank you so much! This comment just made my day! 💗 Please, do share the outcome with me on Instagram (@themorninghooker). I'd love to see your work! 🌼
Hi I found your tutorial really easy to follow ☺ thank you so much... I made my very first granny Square.. It's soooo cute 😍
what should i do to make it bigger?
hello! thank your for your tutorial. could you make taeyong bucket hat?
hi, i saw there are "cl" crochets in your chart on your blog but i can't find any kind of crochet for which "cl" stands in your abbreviations. So what exactly is "cl"? Thank you so much, your tutorial is very simple and helpful!
Cluster stitch 💗
Hello, may I know what's the name of color of the yarn you use? aside from the yellow
I think its colour code is turquoise. Although, I only used generic milk cotton yarn for this project.
Thank you so much 💕 But BGM is so loud and you are so quick as I am beginner it's difficult for me a bit
P.s. Just my opinion ✌️
My apologies! TBH, I don't really edit videos, and this would be the first I'd put out. I tried toggling the music but it really got loud in the end. :(( I'll try my best to improve the sounds in my videos in the future. If you need to clarify anything regarding the project, please feel free to message me on my crochet Instagram account (@themorninghooker)! I'd be happy to help you! :D
@@FangirlOnTheGo Thanks a lot. If I need I'll tell you. I will support you.
@@waizin8377 no problem! Thanks 💗
what kind of yarn do you use?
I used milk cotton yarn for the hats.^^ they're really soft and have no itchy fibers. But, really, you can use any yarn of your choice for this project. 😊
is it okay to use a 5.5 hook size?
Yes! 😊 But make sure to use thicker yarn, otherwise the stitches will be too loose and the holder will be flimsy. 😞
what is the size of the granny square?
About 5 × 5 inches^^
Hi, is there anyway to size this up?
Hi! I haven't tried sizing it, to be honest. 🙏🏼 But if you need it to be a bit bigger, perhaps, you can add 1 layer of single crochet before doing the series of stitches that makes it wider.
Dont mind me bookmarking, 13:20
Was it made by exactly 3 balls becuz I have doing wrong 1 Square 😭, so nervous
Hi! No worries, as I'm here to help! To answer your question, I had a bit of excess from my 100g, but a lot from my 50g. I would make mistakes when making granny square bucket hats, too, and if I think my yarn isn't enough, I would unravel the piece I made a mistake in, and reuse the yarn from it. 😅 Hope this helps!
How many g of yarn did u need
Hi! As indicated in the video, 100g for the base colour and 50 for the other. :)
I’ve been looking for a pattern/tutorial on this! How big is each granny square?
Each granny square is about 4×4 inches. It still depends on the yarn you will use and the tension of your stitches. Hope this helps! ☺
i think my hat is a bit smaller and shorter cuz i used a yarn a bit thinner than urs. :"(( is there any way i can fix it?
Hi! For thinner yarn, you might want to use a bigger hook to loosen the stitches (but not too loose!) Sometimes, the tension can affect the size if the stitches are too tight. Ultimately, you might want to make a new one with a thicker yarn and bigger hook. You can message me on Instagram (@themorninghooker) and tag me to your work so I can see!^^ 👌🏼
@@FangirlOnTheGo thank u !!!! :]] btw, what size were ur granny squares? 4 or 5 inch? cute pattern btw
also, what's ur head circumference if that's not weird to ask lol
The granny squares are about 5 in, while the circumference of my head is some 22 in (lol not weird at all!) 😂 I used milk cotton yarn so it was pretty stretchy.
Hi!!! I'm japanese.I want to make this. What number of crochet do you use?
Hi! What do you mean by number of crochet? The hook I used was 4.5mm, which is about 7 in the US measurement. For the yarn, I used 4-ply milk cotton yarn, it's around 3 in terms of yarn size, I think. 😅
@@FangirlOnTheGo
I'm soory I'm not good English😥
What number of crocodile stick do you use?
I wanted to ask.
Crocodile stick? You mean the hook? My hook is 4.5mm, as stated in the video.
@@FangirlOnTheGo
Yes! I will take a look again.Thank you!!
No worries! I'm sorry I couldn't catch what you meant. 🙏🏼
Por fa, traduccion, español!
Lo siento. Mi Español es malo. Hablo muy poco Español. 🙏🏼😭
sabes por que enrrolla la lana en el dedo? disculpa tejo a crochet pero no soy experta , gracias
Very hard to follow i think it's best to put caption and audio hurts my ears. But your wprk is pretty
Thank you for your suggestion. My apologies for the audio. It may sound like a lousy excuse, but this was my first time making a tutorial video. I just wanted to put this one out there to help fans who might want to make the same hat. I'll try to do better next time. 🙏🏼
I just made the hat and it is wayyy too big for me 😂😂😂🤣🤣
Perhaps, you can try using a smaller hook.^^
@@FangirlOnTheGo oh okkk i also wanna ask what ply milk cotton yarn you used? And just wanna say I love the hat pattern (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
It's 4-ply^^
@@FangirlOnTheGo okk thank youuuu
Not sure where you learned to crochet, but you are doing yarn unders instead of yarn overs. The correct way is just the opposite of what you are doing. I have never seen anyone doing yarn unders on every stitch. Making a yarn over is actually easier. Yarn unders will make the stitches a bit different and a lot tighter than doing it the standard way with yarn overs. The pattern is pretty though. Thank you.
Hi! Yes! I know 😂 I've been doing yarn unders for like years and years before I learned the other technicalities of crocheting recently. Thing is, I learned just by quickly looking at how crocheting is done when I was a child and never really dove deep into it until last year. I never had anybody formally teach it to me either nor did I learn through youtube coz I was already making stuff anyway. Lol. I gotta say tho... I've now fixed my technique and even the way I hold my hook. Thanks for pointing it out tho!
helloo! Do you have any ig acc? I want to tag you on my post 🥰 to give credit for the pattern tutorial, thank youu!
Aw! So sweet of you! I'm @themorninghooker on Instagram. Looking forward to seeing your work! 💗
