She was excellent. I worked on this episode and it's still difficult for me to watch and difficult to listen to her cry, even knowing full well she was acting and the real little girl, still wearing burn stocking, was a few hundred yards away playing basketball!
@@sweetlife031 If I had to take a wild guess I imagine they modified a car so she could safely stick her leg into an opening underneath, then just had her crawl under and stick her leg up in lol

I'm sort of curious how the family dynamics change when a situation like this occurs. Especially when it is one child who hurts a sibling, even if it is unintentional.
depends on the family’s existing dynamic. a family with a healthy dynamic probably won’t be damaged. but there’s always the possibility that the situation could flip the switch and turn a healthy family dynamic into resentment even if it was an accident
It isn't safe to surf ️on top of the car at Sarah's age, because it's dangerous. Safety first! It reminded me a little bit of "Holiday" Performed by Green Day, which is one of my favorite songs, because of the way that she stood up on the vehicle as a way of imitating front man, Billie Joe Armstrong's position as a way to be paid for his appearance in the music video.

Maybe now Sarah will never do that again. She was lucky she got to keep her leg. If the heat killed all the nerve endings in her leg, they would have had to cut it off! :O
Today’s the 28th anniversary of when this happened so Julie is 44, Sarah is 38, and Melissa is 33 now. I’m sure Sarah will never forget this. I made up a story where everyone was making a fuss over Melissa and Sarah was getting ignored. She was jealous “It’s not fair. I don’t like it.” she said. But Julie cheered her up by telling her she felt the same way. But she realize that there were some advantages to not being a baby- getting to stay up later, choosing your own clothes and having a someone around who really looks up to you. Sarah felt better and apologized for the way she acted. She caught the green-eyed monster. I'm sure Sarah tells her children about her accident and to never ever ride on the hood of a car. I imagined I did it and I got my arm stuck in the engine. I thought I was going to lose my arm or never use it again, but I was fine. I want to keep both of my arms and legs this way I can use them.

That makes me mad as hell from what Sarah has done wrong to herself that she's not supposed to ride on top of a car! Only trucks beds do, not on top of a vehicle which can cause serious injuries or death. The driver did the right thing to protect her little sister but she didn't listen to her warnings before it happen to her & her life in danger. Kids nowadays should understand the safety of this dangerous situation or it'll cost their life
To all of you that responded, my profile picture had nothing to do with the question that I asked, please just answer my question and shut up about my damn profile!
I know Julie was only 16 and not an actual adult, but she really was kind of a pushover. She just should have just been firm with Sarah and said no to allowing her to ride on the hood of her car, even when Sarah kept whining about it. She had been given the responsibility of getting her drivers license, driving that car, driving her two little sisters in that car, and babysitting them. If Sarah had been my younger sister, I would have simply said “Sarah, this is my car! I am responsible for the safety of anybody that I drive in it. What I say goes when it comes to the rules, so the answer is no!!” But then again, this was during a more carefree time in our world when people did dumb things like ride on the hoods of cars.
Seen a similar thing one time, brothers playing cowboy on a tractor when it hit a bump, almost throwing me out the trailer and one of my brothers almost went under the front of the tractor (JohnDeere)

But no, she gave into peer pressure by a 10yr old. I wonder if her license was revoked, and for how many years. That pisses me off.
Are you kidding me that’s so dangerous like the quote do not attempt plus if the police caught Sarah riding on the hood her sister could have been very heavily fined along with the very long license suspension not to mention that she’s 40 and I’m not saying that it actually happened but if her teenage kids at the time if any if they fooled around like the way Sarah did she’d be grounding them
