yeah, these nostalgia filled games are good just to people who really like old games. Then when we get a reboot and it is worse than the game was. Its like developers dont know what makes a good game and are more than willing to make money out of nostalgia and hype.
The boss fights are not hard. I was able to do them on the SMS controller as a 9 year old. But they were fun! And they're just a small part of such a great game.
The artstyle is super cute and fun, but the bosses feel more like something that would be a miniboss. The zombie dragon was literally nothing, for example? The vampire dragon's character design was really not well thought out either.
You must understand that this game was originally made in 1989 and the game is mostly a reskin. Repeating paterns for bosses was basically the best thing we had at that time.
Zombie Dragon only launches his (very hard to avoid) attack if you don't hit him quickly enough when he rises from the floor. In a no damage run you basically have to lock him down like this video did. Though you aren't missing much, it's still only one attack - he basically rapid fire pukes acid that travels along the ground.
Visual, design and concepts of these bosses are fantastic. But patterns is disappointing- they not feeling like battle, it too simple and doesn't depends on player what so ever. Background also a little flat, and SFX too loud with too quiet music - it just feels clunky. But looks good.
Game was a blast, took me back. As I am a master on the original it was completed (on Hard) in about 90mins. It took a few moments to get used to the timer aspect but apart from that very enjoyable. Nothing bad to say.
OMG a blast from the past. I remember playing this a kid. seems like everything from the original is in here. the baddies seem the same and the creatures you turn into. Also came instruction booklet that told you how to play and such (of course). No saves just passwords. Had a spot in there about plugging in the passwords including a picture for an example. That said picture was a password for everything and to the last boss. lols. Those Easter eggs. Thanks for the nostalgia.
This game looks excellent! But the bosses are very easy... I can see why since it is a remake, It would be the same stuff like it's old version. But I hoped they could of add a difficulty option. One for a mode just like it's old Wonder boy with the same difficulty as it. And one for a much harder, more challenging mode.
Captain Dragon kinda remind me of Toad Man. Can look intimidating if ya let them pull off the special move, but the pattern before it leads to them being ridiculously easy to kill.
*I hear many of you saying the boss were TOO easy... Did you even play the master system/Turbografx16?!, only 1 damage in the last bosses, one error and goodbye to your hearts in a second and most importantly, you couldnt transform that easy, had to have a second controller*
There's easy, normal and hard difficulty's in this game (as far as I know) and I've completed normal and moving on to hard Also great video, I'm more of a "tank it" kind of guy so it's great to see videos that have no damage, it'll be cool if there's a "complete the entire game with out damage" but that's hard considering the fire spewing clouds that chase the characters until the next screen
I heard that the first wonder boy remake wasn't even the same original game. However Dragon's Trap remake/remaster is a masterpiece better then it's originals. But what Wonder Boy 2, 4, 5, and 6 remade/remastered? Wonder Boy 7 is already a masterpiece. However what about Wonder Boy 8, 9, and 10 being made? :3
the dragon character at: 0:53 reminds me a bit of sonic with the eyes and hair/back of it and that surprised animation looks like the classic death animation in the pose
VeinexesVideos it also gave Bocke (The protagonist) his original color pallet from Monster Land (And is also used by Maki Ozora in her art for the Game Gear release)
How do you fight the Vampire Dragon as Lion Man? EDIT: I just found out that you can change at will with the Tasmanian Sword (funny because that was on my 3rd playthrough)
Those bosses are extremely easy when you know their paterns and master the controls. But trust me, I recently played the remake with some knowledge of the game I had 20 years ago. The pirate dragon will wreck you if you can't get enough height and are too slow on the controls, and the last boss is much harder to kill if you don't exploit it with the Tasmanian sword and use Hawk-man instead like you are supposed to do. This guy just makes the game look easy, but watch some streams to see how many people actualy beat the game without dying.
I was wondering the very same thing. With the Crystal Sword I’m doing next to no damage at all. I’m finding this but a difficulty cliff because of this having zoomed through the rest of the game up to this point
the amount of time put into the art, animation, music (remixes) of these bosses are just wasted cuz of how easy they are. The zombie dragon LITERALLY does nothing but swim.
Zombie Dragon uses a hard to avoid acid puke attack if you don't hit him quickly enough when he jumps out of the floor. You don't see it in this video because the player keeps him locked down.
Well the original game is from 1989 after all. Games weren't quite as advanced or well-developed back then. This is why the remake is a bit too faithful to the original for it's own good; appreciation of the classics is all well and good but the progress that's been made since those days needs to be used, not ignored.
I believe this game is meant for children? Doesn't look very violent comparing other your videos. I remember in past when Jack the Jazzrabbit was a huge thing for my family in near 2000s.
screemingtofu0 it IS the same, Lizardcube reverse engineered the code and recreated it with the new graphics engine and music (And the password system is there as well!)
@@screemingtofu0 It's nearly identifical with a couple minor differences, like the ability to break blocks no longer happens from a specific sword, but from acquiring a ring that you have equipped at all times.

Gorgeous art, but controls, hitboxes, random drops and bosses suck. Instead of full remake, they should add modern changes polishing this game, it would be a masterpiece. Instead its great remake of mediocre game, 7/10.

god damn that is a cute crouch animation with the lizard form
superduper that’s cute? I don’t think so
superduper 000
The Jingo -100% chance of getting friends

superduper it's not a lizard it's a dragon
It really is a great remake from the original wonder boy, the doors, tiles, rooms, even the hit sounds, and the ridiculously easy boss fights.
the art style was fun but the bosses were crap like only 1 very predictable pattern
WhatZooka yup ridicious hp for the same easy to avoid hits.
WhatZooka dude, this game is a remake of a game on master system, so this is why the bosses are like this
ah
Élie Gadbois don't see it like excuse, it is remake after all. This is just ridiculous.
yeah, these nostalgia filled games are good just to people who really like old games. Then when we get a reboot and it is worse than the game was. Its like developers dont know what makes a good game and are more than willing to make money out of nostalgia and hype.
The animation is really fluid, the boss fight's don't seem very. very hard or but the designs and looks are great.
They're pretty tough, he's just got their pattern down.

+Frédéric Brasseur They're still really bad boss fights, though.
Frédéric Brasseur They're absolutely terrible bossfights still. A remake is supposed to make the game better, not keep it exactly the same.

I love how each boss has a variation of the boss battle theme
Dangerously Safe and yet nobody bothers to make four tracks of each version.

I remember playing the original when i was like 10 was always one of my favorite games.

Dominque Doty that's the case. The games on normal. Hard adds a timer that hurts you and tougher enemies.
Uh, this game does have difficulty settings, you choose it upon starting a new game
It's related To Monster Boy!
Yes they are the same series
It IS Monster Boy.
I like how the first boss almost has a beat
We talking about music or the bosses attack pattern
Has anyone noticed that the vampire dragon fight was when the character was still in lion form?
Roblox Saved Me From Cutting actually, he used the Tasmanian sword to turn into Lion-man before the fight.
OHHHHHHHHHHH that makes sense now
Its because Hawkman is weaker then lionman
I wanted to see him fight Vampire Dragon as Hawkman
Captain Dragon kinda remind me of Toad Man. Can look intimidating if ya let them pull off the special move, but the pattern before it leads to them being ridiculously easy to kill.

This company needs to work on the entire series.
tfw a boss video is full of piss-easy bosses and a third of it is just the credits, LMFAO
I mean. It is a remake of a nearly 30 year old game with nothing done to change the mechanics the original had.
Looks like you got a break on this one! >_0
I remember playing this game under a different name, think it was Dragon's Curse for the TG-16
Correct. I think that's the version that also replaced Lion Man with Tiger Man.
VeinexesVideos it also gave Bocke (The protagonist) his original color pallet from Monster Land (And is also used by Maki Ozora in her art for the Game Gear release)
So,every boss are dragons?
kool
Yes. That's why the game's subtitle is called The Dragon's Trap.
How do you fight the Vampire Dragon as Lion Man?

The zombie Dragon just the same thing every time
Is this game targeted for >10 kids? it looks extreamly easy
THE BOSSES are easy

cool remake
What Sword were you using against the Daimyo Dragon? I kept trading hits and not doing almost any damage with the Crystal Sword.
I was wondering the very same thing. With the Crystal Sword I’m doing next to no damage at all. I’m finding this but a difficulty cliff because of this having zoomed through the rest of the game up to this point
You're supposed to use the Muramasa Sword.
The fact that the mummy zombie reward was being a mouse warrior was bugging me so much
Funny they mentioned "Brazilian" instead of "Brazilian Portuguese" under the translations. ^^
Not at all. I mean, yes it is still portuguese, but it got a identity of it's own.
Could you do al of the bosses from ARMS no damage
Thundercats91 02 the two bosses right or is there more because in nintenU theres two bosses
I can't be the only one who thinks that Captain Dragon looks like Captain K.Rool from Donkey Kong country, right?
Great stuff
The strategies to defeat the bosses are still the same from the sms version. The memories...
Fantastic graphics and gameplay but some musics have lost the "feeling" of the battle. Just my opinion.
I'm just curious what happened at the vampire dragon
Jeremy Weingartner he died 😜
Élie Gadbois I mean why did he revert back to lion man after he had become hawk man?
majicz
You can change your form with Tasmanian Sword. It's better to fight final boss as Lion Man. As Hawk Man you will most likely get damaged.
Gellot Aaaand it took me 3 playthroughs to figure it out
the amount of time put into the art, animation, music (remixes) of these bosses are just wasted cuz of how easy they are.
The zombie dragon LITERALLY does nothing but swim.
Zombie Dragon uses a hard to avoid acid puke attack if you don't hit him quickly enough when he jumps out of the floor. You don't see it in this video because the player keeps him locked down.

Nothing was stopping them jumping on the original.
I don't know, maybe obscurity?
But other than that, yeah, you're right
clearly the robot is the best
Legal, batalhas fáceis e letras de "parabéns!" no final... Bem decepcionante
This boss battle gameplay Its so amusing I almost laughed most of the time.
Would be cool if you could arm wonder boy with a chainsaw for the zombie dragon snd even the mummy dragon
Dodging the ghost is harder then the boss
Umm mr gellot how mutch tryes you need to no damage i test this game and im play it but woah
Does anyone know what the song at the begining is?
In the soundtrack it's called "The Last Dungeon".

Chicken invaders 5 all bosses plz no dmg
This kid the main player is changing alot
Mopy mope Mope mopy he's constantly getting cursed, he has to reverse it with an artifact known as the Salamander Cross
The bosses do not have more moves they have only 1 why developers
dimensional and history dragon bosses!!
Wasn't 'Wonder Boy' a Sega Master System game? Is this a spinoff?
looks like a re-make. I had the Original growing up. not sure if is EXACTLY the same, but looks damn close. except for he model updates of course.
