Has Hobbes seen "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"? It kinda flopped and the franchise isn't known for being good so I think it flew under a lot of people's radar, but it had some of the best animation I've ever seen out of a modern studio outside the anime sphere.
I just want to say something to you. I stumbled across your channel a short time ago trying to find material to make an amv. (This may be a little long) I hadn't done one in a long while, and really didn't want (more mental...the world...meh) so I kept making excuses. Then I saw one of your videos, and I may have misread that you (or who I thought was you ) was a teacher and had some of your students use the material as practice. I figured I'd see for myself, because I love a good amv. (Ive been doing it since 96. Aluminum studios old) I love to see the new twists that younger people are putting on them. (Samurai X uses a lot of ace hood and has good editing I think.) After watching a few videos, I was blown away. The quality, the scenes, but most of all the choices. I saw things the stretched from one end to the other. Old favorites, secret guilty pleasures, fury invoking...Needless to say, I couldn't put it off anymore. A voice said, "there ya big baby, someone did it for you, now stop complaining and do something." It was a slow process, but when I was done, I was happy, like I used to be when I made amvs. I liked the end results, I loved them, and I just want to thank you. Sincerely from the bottom of my heart. I can only imagine the amount of pain and effort went into compiling all of the things you have. Even for people who aren't making amvs, you give a beautiful compilation of scenes to watch over awesome music that we may have never have found. A resounding thanks and applause to every animator and team member that made EVERY scene possible, every singer and band for every song, and last but most certainly not least, someone with an eye and an ear that removes the need for lightning in a bottle. You Hobbes, are an invoker of "Manly tears." If you only knew...just thanks.
Do you ever look at your work and think you could just call it a day? Because boy howdy you're on a very short list of content producers in any medium where so much of what you've done forms such a solid and complete body of work. I've felt spoiled for such a long time already - it's incredible. Even for people who aren't making amvs, you give a beautiful compilation of scenes to watch over awesome music that we may have never have found. A resounding thanks and applause to every animator and team member that made EVERY scene possible, every singer and band for every song, and last but most certainly not least, someone with an eye and an ear that removes the need for lightning in a bottle. Do you ever look at your work and think you could just call it a day? Because boy howdy you're on a very short list of content producers in any medium where so much of what you've done forms such a solid and complete body of work.
I've felt spoiled for such a long time already - it's incredible.
My only despair is that either no-one else is making such meaningful contributions to the craft or that I'm just not finding out about them *_; )_* (I feel the same way about the channel *_Other Places_*)
