Thank you Ms. Cohen! Following your instructions took more like 5 minutes than 10 seconds(after all, I'm a guy) but the fit is perfect and I was going crazy trying to follow another video.
This worked perfect! I did have my partner hold one corner and I held the other to shake it out because I have a king size comforter. I didn't expect it to work and viola it was great! Great tip! Change the name to 5 minute tip and those having a hard time may get over it.
Interesting to see all the methods for this! I use the inside out method over the bannister of the upstairs landing. Takes about a minute and always works, thanks to gravity. Been doing that for 35 years. Us Australians followed the Scandinavians in adopting the duvet long ago, now finally the Americans have caught on ... now we just need the bedding makers to catch on :) ... those big fat comforters with non-removable covers ... i mean how many of those can you fit in your linen closet? and they're too big for the washing machine too. One duvet and many different covers make so much more sense.
I have always struggled to do this and sometimes even gave up. The way you showed here was fantastic and will make my bed making life a lot easier from now on. Thank you.
Great! It worked fairly well. I did have to adjust the bottom corners as my blanket didn't shake all the way, but this was way faster and easier than stuffing the entire blanket by hand.
Thanks for the video! FINALLY I know the difference between a Duvet, Duvet cover, and a comforter. A duvet is basically a lightweight comforter, and the duvet cover is like a giant pillowcase that the duvet gets inserted into. Thanks!
ugh! My arms were killing me after trying this method! My king size comforter took forever to get unrolled while shaking it, and even then i had to hold the duvet open and send my 7 year old inside it to fix a corner that wouldn't unfold, lol! Think i'll try the inside out method next :D
I've tried this many, many times, and it's kinda worked once. for some reason I keep trying over and over again. basically the duvet does not unfold properly and fill out the cover once you do the shaking out bit. any tips anyone? ps. Arianne you do this very gracefully, no need to be modest.
+Darren Chaitman UPDATE: my fellow strugglers, I have news that will please you all. right after writing the above post, I tried again and was actually successful. this week I have been successful again, and I now believe I have finally mastered this. the trick is that 1. the duvet cover opening must must be on top. you may have to flip it over after folding it so this is the case. and 2. you must have the corners/edges of the duvet on top and in your hands as you start the shaking out bit. again this may mean flipping the duvet in advance after folding, so that the corners are in the right position when you do the stuffing. also there's a danger of the duvet falling out of the cover when you start the shaking. be really careful when you start so it doesn't fall out, and once it's safely inside you can shake it wildly to your heart's content.
Interesting. This will be very helpful for putting on our new duvet. Just a comment on your Cairn. We had one (she passed away from old age a few years back) that looked EXACTLY like yours. No difference. They could be twins. Same hair length and color, same look on face, same tongue, everything. You would be amazed if you saw a picture of her as I was when I saw your Cairn. I had to do a double take and replay it. I know that all dog breeds carry the same DNA and can look a lot alike, but not exactly alike! Uncanny!
I appreciate the thought, but there are def some steps and/or tips missing! After folding the cover, my opening was *not* on top, and when I flipped it to be, I must have done it wrong because the flicking thing didn't work *at* *all*. :-(
i found my grandmothers old rescipe folder with a bunch of 1950 1963 magazines which i found the title "womans day" cant belive its been around such a long time!
Starts off saying fold cover over towards opening, which means the opening is now on the bottom, When she inserts the duvet the opening is now supposed to be on top. The duvet must be of a very slippery material, lifting and tossing just finishes with it curled up. It'll work better if you insert the duvet, grasp its corners to the inside corners of the cover, (furthest corners from the opening), then shake, But a lot more than 10 seconds.
If this method doesn't work for you (esp. with a bottom-opening one), try this: 1) turn the duvet cover inside out 2) reach into the inside-out cover and grab both corners at the far end 3) with hands still inside the cover, grab 2 corresponding corners of the duvet 4) pull corners out of inside-out cover, and shake until the cover is facing the right way out again. Haven't tried on larger duvets, but for single sizes it's a quick 1-person job and makes my life that little bit better :)
This method works only if the cover is much wider than the duvet, like putting a twin duvet inside a full cover. Otherwise, you can shake as long as you want and still will not get the job done properly. Maybe in 10 minutes instead of 10 seconds?
Having just watched this video and done it on my own spare room's double duvet cover, I would dispute that this method is quicker or easier than the usual method I use. I ended up with a big with lumps in it!
I find this is no way gonna take 10 seconds, a minute maybe. The way I always do it is get the cover and turn it inside out, then put my hands inside and grab the corners opposite to the opening, then pinch the covers of the duvet and lift and shake, the cover will fall over the duvet and then just lay it down, check the corners are in place and close the opening. DONE!
Stop Drop Gaming Thank you! All these crazy tricks, tips and hacks are driving me crazy. All I wanted was a simple, yet extremely quick method, yours sounds like both. I'm gonna try this at work tomorrow (housekeeper @ a hotel).
bloody hell ... instead of my normal 30 mins to get it right it took an hour out of my life.. The doona cover was inside out, I ripped the bloody thing twice, it was a mass of something. Now i'm being divorced and turned to drinking. Thanks Woman's Day, :(
It's easier and quicker if you have the duvet cover inside out, put your hands through the opening to the far corners, grab the corners of your duvet and shake. I personally think so anyway.
Well I just tried this but being a bloke I sort of cocked it up along the way. It did not work as well as expected, but not bad for the first try. I shall practise more when I have to wash the duvet again. Still blame it on me being a bloke.
Blame it on it being your first time trying it. Your gender has nothing to do with it, mate. It's not like women are born knowing how to fold things either.
I didn't like this method, it may work on double sized duvet sets but superking sizes are a workout to do. I needed a nap halfway through shaking, and a cold shower after
I put on a Cd I really like and spend half an hour fooling with it..i find climbing inside the cover particulary interesting..all the inside out and rolling up just doesn't cut it for me...usually by the time the CD is over its in the cover..however the quickest method really is to just get a sleeping bag
Much easier and quicker to turn the duvet inside out, lay the comforter on top, tie the corners of the duvet to the comforter, turn right side out and shake. Some American-made duvets don't have the ties, so I sew some in.
needs better explaining. I didn't know whether to have it inside out , or where to position the duvet so you could stuff it in the cover .. other than that, pretty good :)
It certainly takes me more (much more than 10 secounds I will call her the next time lol:she can come for coffee lol and the finish on her bed looks like she doesn't care I'm very a lot more of a perfectionist
This did not work at all... All it earned me was a crumpled mess inside a cover. Recommend the turn it inside out and grab the corners method every time :|
Oh great; no doubt fine for a 7 Tog in a double but you try it with a 20 Tog in a Super King. Apart from needing prosthetic arm extensions to reach the corners, the gale force winds generated trying to shake it down have caused the Met Office to record a weather anomaly, which they have put down to global warming.
I’m in therapy because I take all of 45 minutes to get my cover and comforter on the bed properly! No wonder my wife left me, telling all and sundry “He’s no good in bed!”
The old way is quickest for me personally just put inside cover hold two corners nearest to you and flick! takes 10 seconds tops . This new discovered way takes longer for me.
Thank you Ms. Cohen! Following your instructions took more like 5 minutes than 10 seconds(after all, I'm a guy) but the fit is perfect and I was going crazy trying to follow another video.
great way to do this chore. It took me just a little longer than in Arianne's video but the result was amazing!
Don't listen to the naysayers! This was such a time saver. Thank you, Arrianne!
This worked perfect! I did have my partner hold one corner and I held the other to shake it out because I have a king size comforter. I didn't expect it to work and viola it was great! Great tip! Change the name to 5 minute tip and those having a hard time may get over it.
Thank you so much. You made it sound simple -and kept your promise.
This is the best one I've seen and it worked perfectly. Thank you!

The duvet cover, does it have to be inside-out?
Just tried and it worked like a charm, thanks!
Great! It worked fairly well. I did have to adjust the bottom corners as my blanket didn't shake all the way, but this was way faster and easier than stuffing the entire blanket by hand.

Worked like a charm Thanks for solving one of the few mysteries of my life as a single guy :)
THANK UUUUU so much for posting that i have always been terrible at putting a duvet into a duvet cover just tried it and it worked THANK UUUUUU
you are so helpful you saved me i thought i was never going to find out how to put a duvet cover on
Will give that a go. Love the dogs at the end.
Thanks this really helped me! I always struggled with this before but now its so easy to do. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Always struggled if i'm going to be honest! Took me a few attempts to perfect it but got there in the end :)
This worked for me. Thank you very much.
wow, love the duvet, where is it from?
Worked like a charm!

elisha armstrong YEP!!! me too

Because Martha Stewart watches your every move.

had to shake it out a bit more but it worked great. thank you:)

Two happy pups 💓
Just tried this, it was in the cover alright! In a giant ball! Took ages to get the corners of the duvet into the corners of the cover
I just give it a try and wow real quick thank you
I loved the little dog at the end!!! hahaha
great tip, thanks!

Oh my goodness! Arianne, you are a Goddess!
Thanks, from a guy who hated that job :D
thank youuuu it helped loads

That's a nice tip!
Thx this really helped !!!! Thx so much
Duvetcovers come with openings that big?
Well it worked but it was just as difficult as the way I normally do it because it's the 'shaking out' part I have a problem with :-(
Having just watched this video and done it on my own spare room's double duvet cover, I would dispute that this method is quicker or easier than the usual method I use. I ended up with a big with lumps in it!
Same here. Just tried it. :(
Cool. Never would have thought of that.
you are amazing. Thanks alot
what about the ones that have ties on coverns and sides?
good job !!!

I think you meant to say "then pinch the CORNERS of the duvet", not "covers".
What about when the opening is at the bottom, and not at the side? Most openings are at the bottom of the cover here.
Just turn the duvet cover around so the opening is facing the side and do the same method, it really does work! :)
wow thanks! It worked!!!

This may work for a toddlers bed, but not a king size. Dang! I was so hoping for an easy way.
It's about time somebody produces a clever solution for such a boring task!!
Much easier and quicker to turn the duvet inside out, lay the comforter on top, tie the corners of the duvet to the comforter, turn right side out and shake. Some American-made duvets don't have the ties, so I sew some in.
Amazing duvet cover trick....propose to her!
LOL at the cute dog
In what universe was that 10 seconds?
needs better explaining. I didn't know whether to have it inside out , or where to position the duvet so you could stuff it in the cover .. other than that, pretty good :)
Thanks
Thank you soo much I normally take like half an hour 😄😄😄😄
Lol, I put my Duvet on my King size bed the other day, Lord I watch the video about 4 times to get it right. 😅😅😅
They reversed the sheets between cuts but this gets the point close enough across.
The shaking out part didn't work. It just got jumbled and twisted inside. It also didn't help that the angle of the video changed halfway.
...I am 98 years old...the shake it out part is beyond me...and...could never remember a bit of that...where do I find "Nearly Dead" magazine?...
Ikea! I just got a really pretty floral cover for $35.
I spent so long trying to do this I wish I just done the ordinary way
@Priceless2124 Because she was teaching how to do it.
@DBCOOPER888 I'm talking about doing it yourself it takes more than 10 seconds
1:09 video highlight lol
1:07 Dog's having a fit
ima try it
thank you kind woman now my mum wont ground me yay
Anybody can manage a duvet cover on a single bed, try this on a king and your arms will give up before you manage to get the cover halfway on.
It certainly takes me more (much more than 10 secounds
I will call her the next time lol:she can come for coffee lol
and the finish on her bed looks like she doesn't care I'm very a lot more

Oh my god that proper made me giggle haha
There is another disturbance in the force tonight, and it's coming from my bedroom.
Really helpful. Thanks.Arianne you are lovely. You are not married by any chance are you ?
Wow, 10 seconds for sure.
Just tried it - didn't work at all :(
Tryed to do it but still got it inside out lol !
just did this then realized i had the duvet cover inside out -__-
people complaining about "10 seconds" = useless crybabies
This was helpful.
NOOOO! Wrong. Way way too complex. Turn duvet cover inside out. Push hands into far corners. Grab corners of duvet. Hold up high and shake.
I’m in therapy because I take all of 45 minutes to get my cover and comforter on the bed properly! No wonder my wife left me, telling all and sundry “He’s no good in bed!”
very good though it takes more than 10 seconds
thank you Brittney Spears!
Sure.. The *inside out method* is the fastest and is standard among professionals; so try again.
10 seconds but you need 5 minuets prep time, just do then inside out cover method and whip the duvet through it.
Didn't Work For Me,Spent An Hour Trying To Shake The Duvet Straight And Its Still Lumpy.
The old way is quickest for me personally just put inside cover hold two corners nearest to you and flick! takes 10 seconds tops . This new discovered way takes longer for me.
To celebrate woman's day, we are letting our women do our duvet.
folding the duvet alone took me ten seconds.
