I Change Pickups In My Squier Telecaster And Show How To Do A Pickup Replacement And Upgrade

- In this video I demonstrate how to upgrade and change out pickups in a Telecaster. This is an easy procedure and upgrade to do and just takes a little patience and some minor soldering skills. This video is a litttle unusual because one of the pickups I was wanting to use wound up a dead pickup so I had to revert back to the original pickup in the guitar which wound up being a Dimarzio pickup and high quality that the prior owner had previously upgraded. So at least at the video, the guitar still had a set of nice pickups in it and I was also able to get the neck pickip changed to a Lollar 52 which sounded amazing. I not only show how to solder in the pickups but also how to access the pickups and 3 way switch and at the end of the video provide a nice audio demonstration of the finished product. I hope you like the video!. Please subscribe!

Wow. Marty, I gotta tell you this is beautiful. The great Squier guitar. An everyman's guitar for sure. But is kills! The install. The fail. This stuff is all good, and this is what it's all about for a lot of us guys. All this stuff. And I always love the Van Halen stuff. Def Lep. Etc. But man.... your playing in this one is absolutely stunning. Loving this. Could go to sleep with this on a bad sleep night. Amazing!
Thanks brother. I appreciate it so much man.
Those pickups actually compliment each other very well. Guitar also looks great.
Good job 👍
Two things that i really like to watch getting modded are guitars, and cars.😉
Thanks! I think so too! I may try out that dimarzio neck pickup again down the line.... but for now I'm gonna keep it like it is!
Been jamming with a tellicaster for about 12 years now love the versatility
Both good pickups! I like Dimarzio pickups! Now you'll have to find another tele for the Dimarzio pickups! 😊 Thanks Marty don't you hate when all the work doesn't pan out!😮 sounds good!
I enjoyed the tech video. And your playing is so good…anything you play sounds incredible, lol. But that guitar is nice looking as well.
Thanks you so much! I really do love this sparkle paint and the mirror guard. 😁☮️
Nice color on this guitar, the Warrant tune Cherry Pie comes to mind here. Good video, thanks for sharing. I have a mint black 89 made in USA Squire Strat. Pretty rare, plays like butter. Not many USA squires around.
Solder iron in a Reeses coffee cup…lol. That is awesome. Love how you show that u don’t have to have all the expensive tools. Cheers Brother!
True that! All my stuff is at my shop. This was my rag tag late night project. 😄
Great job once again man, BIG props on that solo!!!! Loving the channel!!!!
Thanks so much! Figured I'd throw a Pink Floyd flair in there! 😎☮️
According to Siri, Phillips screws were invented in the 1930's, thanks for the great content Marty 🤘
You should consider installing a four way switch to add an extra flavor of tone with both pickups. I did the mod on my mex tele and love the new tone choice.
Enjoyed Marty. Just bought a Squire Affinity for playing with.
Beautiful Telecaster!!! Those Indonesian Squier's are very well made. I'm wondering if your Telecaster started it's life as a limited edition Guitar Center model that Squier made for them....those upgrades alone are definitely worth the $180 you paid for it!!! I'm a huge DiMarzio fan, if you still have those pickups, I might be interested in them.😁 Oops.... watching to the end...the DiMarzio bridge pickup just went back in...lol. DiMarzio/Lollar combo is nice!!! ❤ Rubber grommets in the neck pickup.
Sounds great. Putting in some tone riders so this will help.
Nice.. Thanks For Sharing
Individually, those pups sound great. Together, middle position, a bit on the thin side; out of phase?
Yeh they were bright on the middle! Sheesh!
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker The pickups are out of phase in middle. Easy fix, just reverse your wires on the Lollar. Ground to switch-hot to the back of pot. You will hear a big difference and will have a great sounding guitar.
I just bought a red sparkle Squier Bullet Tele the other day, ended up paying 145, then getting 50 of that back for a dead fret. Gonna turn it into a fun little project.
Awesome deal man! Hope you turn it into something really special! 🤟🏻😎
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker The guy who had it before me already added a “Nashville” style middle pickup, been having a blast with that. Might change the electronics and grab a nice maple neck and then I can use it to record like I had planned.
Dang dude. Great production. I watched the whole thing. Great educationing. What oil do you use for the rosewood? Also can you do one concerning frets, my bottom E gets snagged on the 2nd fret edge. Thanks so much! By the way what an awesome solo section. I’m sitting here with my jaw on the floor, it dropped.
Thank you man! I use Dunlop 65 lemon oil.
Good idea. Yeh I can do some fret videos. 🤟🏻
Also you should try the 36th anniversary dimarzio pups they are actually really nice I've put them in epiphones and wired 50s they gave me more of the tone I was looking for. Tho the ultimate tone piece is the amp speaker
Beautiful
Very nice buddy. Sounds good. With the prices of guitars these days. I look for deals too. Im older and on fixed military veteran income. Want to buy some kits and do my own guitars eventually. Ive done one over a year ago. Peavey predator. It was a learning experience. Take care 👍👌💯🕳️
Man I woulda bought that in a minute! I've always wanted a Tele but have never pulled the trigger. Looks and sounds cool to me! Hey! Where's the cork neck doohicky?!
I still have the cork. Lol. I'll put it in my next video. 😁. I should do a video on it! Hahaha
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker You did show it and explain it once because some observers actually thought it was a rock. Can't say I had that confusion.
Nice. I am looking to put 64 vintahe pickups in a squier.
That would be cool!
... Sounds good... 👍
Thanks man!! 😎🤟🏻
Bridge pup twangs nice!!!
These are $149.00 at guitar center right now just got one.
Sounds really good. Nice blues picking 👍
I'm diggin in !
Thank you, I appreciate it dude.
Can't hate on the tone at all
I love tinkering as much as I you, but my Squier felt like a beginner's guitar, and I wore the frets out really fast . the neck had some nice flame in it and it looked pretty cool. i just spent 200 bucks on fralin pup .. i should film myself installing lol .. i have my electronics shop open again ... some home brewed pedals otw
you need some flux mate .. flux will help and get yourself a solder sucker..solder should not pop off. you need flux wetting action and I dont think you heated the joint properly .. looks like a rats nest in there 😂
1932 was the screw next year came the screwdriver lol
Hahaha!! The drink right?
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker exactly 🤣
Them flat head screws should at least help with identifying that they are 50s pups at least ✌️✌️✌️
Henry Philips invented phiips screws in the early 1930s for the automotive industry. Maybe they cost and extra quarter of a penny and Ol' Leo didn't want to pay.
Man those guys were lazy with the DiMarzio pickups and kinda ruined the leads rookies 😂
Nice job but fyi you have a red wire pinched under the chrome cover of the knobs at the bottom
not too bright, hight matters on pickups.......
