came for the speedrun gameplay, stayed for the amazing space video & modern era music. the opposing portraits were good too, modern era Babylon made me laff. please upgrade your Palace next run!
You cant linger on the first endscreen, you have to click through it fast. The game history screen and the Top Cities screens are OK. Click through the Sledgehammer game screen. That's how my game works anyhow
@@suedeciviii7142 Yeah, don't worry, the same thing happened to me. In my opinion, it's not really worth it to get RoPs after geting railways. The reputation boost from RoP is minimal and the risk is far too great. Luckily the AI is too stupid to properly exploit it they way human player would. They always send only one unit to take one city, without any reinforcements. Imagine if they marched their whole army into every single empty city, lol.
Challenge: 80% archipelago High aggro civs, Aztecs mongols zulu etc Deity difficulty Always war Conquest or domination victory only Think you could do that bro
I've tested and always war is impossible on demigod unless you do islands. I don't think deity would be doable, even with islands... But maybe there's a shot. I think extended playthroughs with a high chance of failure like that would be better suited for my stream though. I don't like doing them for youtube because if I fail I can't post it, and my time is wasted. Well, unless I fail spectacularly.
@@webdiver9601 Hahah. I actually did SoS on my stream too. Just basically anything long or difficult. Although I have come up with a playthrough of SoS that I think would work pretty well for a youtube video. So it's on my list :).
I had a game similar to this a while back where I was even larger (lower diff), and got tied up by the AI in a completely senseless war (including overseas invasion, too), so I had to spend many boring turns defending completely corrupt cities along the fringes of the empire. I later learned that the AI does not consider how advanced your units are, only how MANY you have, so I looked weak to them. Mind you, I had at least one Infantry in all my cities, so my military was much larger than yours with all the empty cities! (which made me really nervous for you lol) Also: why did you not change into Democracy?
I knew I could defend myself and got lazy. I played a game on my stream and experimented with democracy. It confirmed my initial objections to it. None of the benefits it give outweigh the flexibility of being able to wage war that republic gives, and it's also a side path in the tech tree. Notice I didn't even tech sanitation, I just traded for it.
@Mike I'd love to watch that video! I've looked into it and I did not describe it correctly. It seems the game mostly uses attack values to calculate military strength, so yes, this also reflect your tech level. In my game however, I perhaps looked weak to the AI because I did not bother to build offensive units, and thus all my advanced defenders had a combined low attack score. @@yoannalbouy6148 No, just good economic management. At the start of this part of the video, I have 300 population throughout my empire. Each population generates 2-4 commerce. So about 850 commerce. Plus you get commerce from the city center. That's about 5 commerce each. So about 1000 commerce. I'm losing 307 commerce per turn to corruption, quite low, since I'm republic and a commercial civ. So 700 commerce. Then we apply multipliers. At least 50% in all cities. 100 if I have a bank/library. So about 1200. Plus other civs are paying me 274 gold per turn in trade deals. Of course, I have to pay building maintenance on top of that, but that's pretty low, since I have Sun Tzus and Pyramids, and don't build happiness buildings. I have no army maintenance.
the tip was to press esc to get through the victory screens rather than clicking. works every time :p
Gotta love that sweet, sweet sax music.

Good to know, I always forget the exact mechanic. But it's well programmed.
Oh, except retaking your own city counts as a violation :/
Wouldn't mind seeing a short part 4 tearing through their capitals as fast as possible.
Hah! I can send you the save file if you want to mess around with it.
I was going to go to sleep, but now I’m not!
damn i always thought those end screens in civ 3 are so toxic

Why did you even wanted the RoP with the mayans? Also I'm sorry, but that was really hilarious :D
I honestly can't remember. Improved relations?

@Mike They do, but the format is kind of wonky. I can't remember exactly how it works, but it can have unintuitive results.
