  • This isn't clickbait, in 30 turns or so I increased this player's science output from 5gpt to 100 gpt. Here I take a very low commerce island start and turn things around, putting the player on the path to victory.
I have a new computer! Let me know if you have any opinions on the new resolution or video settings.

I thought commercial civs just have reduced corruption. 2 workers per city for a regular civ and 1.5 for an industrious is what I remember as the guidelines on civfanatics. Also, irrigation is possible everywhere with the discovery of Electricity.

Commercial civs get +2 commerce per turn in the city center at size 7. I did a test a while back and discovered that, in many cases, that was actually a bigger deal than the (modest) reduction in corruption they get.

Lots of people posted plausible reasons. I'd have to see the save file, send it to suedeciviii@gmail.com.
Unless you're turning up the luxury slider when you switch, it doesn't make sense though. Honestly from experience, I'd say, are you absolutely sure unit support isn't the issue? Remember, in republic, you pay 2 gold per turn per unit over the cap. So even being, say, 10 units over the cap, can be quite costly if you don't have much income.

I don't remember in which video he explained it, but I'll try to sum up what I remember from it. Forbidden Palace acts as a normal Palace only for the city in which you build it (i.e. removing all corruption). It does not reduce corruption in other cities based on their distance to the Forbidden Palace city, meaning cities directly adjacent to it will not get a large reduction in corruption. However, it does provide a small, equal reduction in corruption for all cities (or at least ones on the same continent, can't remember which).
