Hi fam😍 please react to "The Lord's Prayer" featuring Whoopi Goldberg, it's a song from Sarafina the movie featuring Whoopi, it won an Oscar
Please react to "Some nights" rendition by Stellenbosch University Choir cape town south Africa 🇿🇦 and more war cries videos
Please react to South African Afrojazz music
Hello new here, are you guys reloacting to SA?
The war crys are for sports
These are high school children and those "suits" is actually the uniform
This video is one of my proudest moments as a South African. I was in school during apartheid. I know we still got a lot to do but let's just take a moment to say, look how far we've come. These kids are the South Africa we've been fighting for. Love from SA
I get so emotional when I see these kind of things… I love how music just unites us.. super proud to be South African… Gosh I l❤ve my country 🌈🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
I feel you esp if you where a sportsman in highschool when your in that change room strapping up before a game and you hear hundreds of your fellow schoolmates chanting outside you can't help but get hyped you actually feel the blood in your veins start to surge. The first hit and every hit after that has the entire school behind it. I miss those days
One thing about South Africa is that everything we do involves song and Dance, including protests even
Yes, I love that too. I've seen some EFF songs that made me cry, even though I don't understand what they were saying.
Same in the U.S.😊 You would almost forget we're protesting.
@@TheDemouchetsREACT you should react to South African protests
@@TheDemouchetsREACT 😂😂😂😂 thought we were the only ones😂. Other races just never know what to make of it.
@@muanoquinton8692 yes!! Too bad they won’t be able to appreciate the lyrics.
The ones with long scarves are top academic achievers..The ones in caps are usually the jocks, the top achievers in sports. The multi-color jackets are
seniors who are prefects and hold some leadership role or position in the school..
The slow one at 5:00 is South Africa’s favourite.
African vibes. Goosebumps!
Definitely a fave - I was hoping it would be included 😁
Felt goosebumps all over
"The suits" is actually school uniforms with blazers (jackets). In SA our learners (students) wear uniform.
Yeah... Even in Zimbabwe that's how our school uniforms are....
Lol they were not graduating. We don't have high school graduations in SA. It's their school uniform, every school in SA has school uniform. The grade 12 learners and the student councils (prefects) and athletes have different uniform than the rest of the school. (Athletes wear their unique uniform during the athletics season, which is usually in the beginning the year)
Let me break it down:
South African sing these songs for different purposes and event but most importantly, this THE SCHOOL SPIRIT. The guys with the sticks are the spirit heads/leaders.
We also have spirit squads who are lead by the spirit leaders(whom are in the last year of high school)
We sing these at:
sport events such as rugby matches, netball, hockey, basketball, etc
Assemblies at the beginning of the year and at end
Festivals
Spirit competitions if organised
But these songs are what brings school children together and become one for a moment.
(I go to a South African school) 😊😊
It's not a graduation, they were wearing school uniforms and those jackets/blazers are a part of it.
We don’t gratuate school. We graduate university
They're school kids in their uniforms building up to a rugby game at school. This is serious business, lol!❤
The whole school band doesn't participate for the war cries. They incorporate a lot of rap song beats to their war cries. I'm off to a huge rugby day at my son's school now, with loads of war cries. Truly exciting & proudly South African 💚💛 🇿🇦
Our school had our war cries before and during games, especially 1st team rugby games. These hype the school, the crowd and the players up. My school has a big alumni so each gam they attend and cheer while we play our hearts out
They're not graduates, it's the entire school. Probably before a game. The other prleoole are spectators/parents.
War cries are done during games, to hype up the teams. So it will be before the game or during half-time. They come from traditional war cries and recently the youth have found ways to mesh pop culture into that's like hip hop beats and lyrics because it works well. It's beautiful to watch but even better to be a part of the group. They encourage group cohesion, teamwork, common goals and unity. They make you proud to be part of a team and pride in your school. Schools will alter common war cries to fit their ethos and if they can come up with an original, that's even better!
I love these war-cries! Thank you for reacting to this👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
All or most of the schools featured here are private ALL boys schools, most of them are boarding schools. They take pride in their sport teams, war cries usually before a rugby match. Public schools do it too, it's so much fun. ALL schools in SA wear uniform which I think is cool as des no pressure on the kids to wear expensive brands etc. There's also rules in the way boys have to wear their hair, girls, it must always be tied. Boys have to keep it short and neat. It's quite interesting for us when we watch American high school movies when we see the dress code, kids driving cars to school, generally in SA it's not allowed even if you come from a rich family, anyway drivers license age is SA is 18yrs nt 16yrs maybe dat's one of the reasons
Wars cries are students supporting their schools sports teams it’s almost like cheerleading except with out the Pom poms ,short skirts and flipping through the air but it’s got a hell of a lot more rhythm 🥁💃🏽🥳
In South Africa this is what we call Inter high. This is various schools that compete in athletics with one another and that is how the various schools encourage the athletes. Imagine about 8 schools going on like this. This is very powerful when you are there.
5:00 was actually a send-off to one of the students who died
They ain't graduating, there was a rugby game playing. It's a traditionap song sang during either Rugby or Soccer that uplifts everyone 🎉.
Hilton College and Michael House are the best I can relate🇿🇦🇿🇦❤
nah its parktown, they just aint seen it yet
Hey Family🥰🥰The Proud South African Zulu Girl♥️🇿🇦🇿🇦Marking to days register✅✅✅
Loving the reaction🇿🇦🥺♥️♥️
To my understanding War-cries, were some of the song our soldiers used to sing when going for war...
But it ended up being songs sang to encourage our school sports guy's♥️♥️♥️♥️😝
We Call the songs Amagwijo ♥️✅mostly Sang for Soccer and Rugby players at high schools🇿🇦
That vibe is Xhosa Western Eastern cape all the way to Western Cape. Rudby spirit is no child's play that side. Amagwijo all the way.
The suits are school uniform. Wearing uniform from pre k till you complete High School is more dominant than wearing casual or civilian clothes.
They are not graduating. They are required to dress fully in their school uniform for sports events.
Uplifting the atmosphere for a rugby game
The school that had the humming part is St Stithians. I was there on that day. It wasn't a graduation but it was one of the annual events which includes old boys and old girls (former students who have graduated and parents). I think it was founders day if I am not mistaken.
South Africa the land of good music
War Cries before a Rugby Match. High School Rugby Matches. Everyone is a schoolboy.
@W2MEDIA Your right. There are good unisex Rugby Schools in South Africa, like Paarl Gym, Affies or DHS. But sometimes there are visiting All girls Schools like when Micheal House, Selbourne or Rondeboch Boys play. Yes I'm South African, a Coloured guy from Cape Town🤙🏼 hosh!
The one you thought was a graduation ceremony was probably just at a rugby match. We don’t really have graduation here in South Africa
Check out Dale college or Queens college Gwijo. Just type in Gwijo or Amagwijo
I think its our sunshine.. we always singing dancing or whistling..even in our school uniforms
# differences aside, united we stand. We have the spirit🎉
Most of the boys schools war cries was to prepare for the rugby game and intimidate the school you play against
It’s really like a pep rally. Yes War cries are for school spirit to prepare for games. Exactly! The suits are the uniforms, kids were uniforms to school in SA.
It's been a minute since I last was here but here I am agaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiin
Hiiii love!
South Africa is really a rainbow nation, even though there are a few ignorant people at Capetown, most of the provinces we are united black and white
Every school has its signsture tune. The kids love it. Great encourage ment for them.
You guys are dope. I'm actually seeing for the first time that our war cry song🇿🇦🇿🇦 we sang during the rugby world cup was actually based on a high school war cry song. Thanks for the reaction. Together thananana together
As a rugby player... If you hear the last war cry before a 1st team rugby match... You know it's about to go down... The chills
Love it SA!!!!!
We love our schools in South Africa 🇿🇦
Proud South African here. Try looking into Queen's College Boys' High School "gwijo" very famous in South Africa Boys School.
Great video, however not exactly what i was expecting. The best war cries are the very slooow and emotional ones , those are amagwijo. But I loved the hype ❤️
The last song: "Thina siyazalana mama" translates to "We come from the same womb or We're related."
"Mntana kamama" translates to "My mother's child."
"Ufik' izolo umntana kamama" translates to "He arrived just yesterday, my mother's child."
This happens when two schools play a rugby game so they hype their team by war chants
Hi im actually from south africa and i love it when they do this❤
We use these war cries for sport. Generally rugby hockey and netball and water polo
Imma miss highschool
Supporting your school team
The first chant was a play on Ali Bomaye from the rumble in the Jungle, meaning Ali Kill Him.
"one is enough to remember" I'm dead 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you guys are hilarious
Usually it is large sporting avents that we do war cry during the games to cheer on our schools team
The slow one is the real original war cry in isiXhosa.
A war cry is before a sports competition and the whole school takes part. It is not a graduation group.all schools in SA wear uniforms
It's mostly during sports, the highlight is during interhigh athletic s because more schools take part,by the time you drive home with your children, you are so tired because parents stand in front buy a bit further from them hyping them up,it's a real workout
Being young is beautiful man especially in high school
Hi I’m from South Africa and the schools do this during sports matches. These clips are from high school rugby. The Saints is my boy’s school ❤ so much spirit.
Warcry also the last event sung by pupils when you leave school
3:14 That's my school & we weren't hot because it was winter ;)
For sports days, swimming galas and rugby days etc. SA does not do graduations or wear gowns ands 🎓, this is their school uniform.
These songs are usually sung before or after a rugby game, especially before the First team plays
Proud to say one of the people holding a stick is my cousin👏👏👏
All of these normally happen at athletic 3vents and before sports events between schools
During Rugby games in these top S.A high schools, the rivalry extends to even who has the best war cries.
the slow one is poweeful and the meaning of the song its crayz
When hear African people sing, you sometimes feel like the Earth is singing to you.
We sing like this on Game day but also just to have fun!!!
It's for the team playing the game against another school, its compulsory to go to the game wether it cricket or rugby etc you have to go and the person highping the students up is the house captain and you have to show up in school uniform
Proof that S.A schools are lit ♥️🔥🔥🔥🔥
My school is in most of the videos! Represent!!!
First video is The Games inspired Ali Bomaye.
We prepare for a rugby game
Basically a pep rally but like...at the game. Normally rugby.
War cries are just for fun or when we have Sports day
Please react to slow amagwijo 👏👏👏💯💯💯they have powerful meaning
The one you said started slow is my best
I got it. They sung the "ali bomaye" song
We get high school certificates but we don’t graduate high school. We just have a dance/prom and that’s it.
We don’t have a graduation ceremony however we do graduate those certificates are proof of graduation just like university students receive certificate degrees to show they’ve graduated university.
War cries are for sports days .
most of these are all boys schools.
When we compete we shake the arena
This happend when it's sports time
Rugby match.
All war cries for RUGBY MATCHES!!!!!! I am from South Africa and played against all these schools.
These are all boys schools if It'm not mistaken. And some are boarding schools
These crys are mostly done at rugby school games against other schools
The first were singing the bomaye song
🇿🇦✊🏾
South Africa 🇿🇦 ♥
They are for sports school spirit
Swanson South African show on Netflix called blood and water
Blood amd water
@@pmambongwe8640 thank you 🙏🏾
The Last video lyrics "thina siyazalana" means we are all related.
5:00 goosebumps
wheres the mr cooper video
It's there school uniforms they wearing in South Africa it's compulsory to wear school blazers
😂 we did it during athletic season was fun
hey I'm from south Africa so basically what a war cry is its something that most boy high schools do I've never seen or heard people say girls school have war cies and Hilton college has to have the best war cry 💕❤
If theres something wrong feel welcome to correct me
All girl schools as well as coeducational schools do have war cried as well. Especially for sports.
Of course girls schools also have war cries.!!! I went to a Catholic school ( convent ) and we used to have athletic sports days against other Catholic convents. They were all girls schools then and we used to practise the war cries for weeks before the day. It was great fun. !!
translation:
"Thina siyazalana mama (we are related/ we're one blood)
Mntana kamama (my mother's child)
Ufik' izolo umntana kamama (he arrived just yesterday, my mother's child)"
They all preparing for rugby games, you must watch the SA school boy rugby
