Thanks for the beautiful introduction to dhrupad! I have been listening to Dhrupad for a considerable time . It has yogic qualities and benefits. This Music, I feel is connected to metaphysics or philisophy discussed in Indian streams of knowledge. Dagarbani is of course, known and popular. But give us information about other banis and subtle differences in the styles. Let us know where to find and listen to these other bannis. Also tell about the history of how many, when , and who composed bandishes? In how many rasas . Are there any new bandishes composed which gives the cultural glimpse of the modern times or may be new compositions in continuity with rich old time? If not, why not. Is Hindustani classical , Dhrupad music has reached its saturation point as far as bandishes are to be taken into consideration? I have many more questions related to history of Dhrupad. How Rudra Vinas were manufactured. From where the material use to come for making of rudra Vinas, tanpuras. who use manufacture them. What material they were made out of?Vina or Been has ancient roots I can see that referred vedic literature. And in Raja Ravi Varam's paintings! So please tell us something more about Vinas. And Beenkars! I believe that the Dagars are truely responsible to keep this music alive through centuries through ups and down till now when classical music got the support of masses once again to survive further.
