Hey Tristan! I saw your story on IG this morn, congratulations on your Durham offer! :D I had got into 5 unis in the UK for politics and IR and had firmed Birmingham. But now I can’t go due to the pandemic. Tbvh, I have always been more inclined towards law than anything else. The thing is, in India which is where I live, law is for 5 years and that’s a lot for someone who also wishes to study abroad. On the other hand, it’s only 3 in the UK. So I was wondering about giving the LNAT a try for entry next year. What do you think?
Hey thanks for reaching out! It really is entirely up to you, if you’re convinced that you want to study law in the UK then I’m sure you’ll b able to pass the LNAT! Don’t forget there are lots of great unis here that don’t require it so you would still be able to study law if you’d applied to multiple courses. Sorry I can’t help more, the decision really is up to you but it’s a big one so you should spend a good amount of time deciding what is best for you :)
Love the video but as a person weighing up whether to do the LNAT or not, would you recommend still doing it despite not having as much of a preparation time if I started now. Some websites I see says 8 months is plenty of time, some say 1 month, what’s a time frame that it is still good to prepare for the LNAT??
I would check online whether there is any downside to taking the LNAT this year and trying again if it doesn't work out (I think doing this is fine). As I've explained, the LNAT is very much aptitude-based, though practice is absolutely helpful. So ultimately, it depends on your personal circumstances and how confident you feel. If possible, I'd give it a go this year if you're keen to go to uni as there's no harm in trying other than the cost if you make sure it doesn't hurt your confidence. Hope that helps, best of luck!
Hey thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try to put something together about that soon! In the meantime I’d say just try to practice as many argumentative essays as you can within timed conditions. There’s loads of example questions that you can find online but let me know if you if there’s anything specific you’d want me to talk about. Good luck practicing!
I recon that’s actually better for you guys, Alevels are obviously harder and it makes them less important! On the other hand it makes it more important to do well in the LNAT. Swings and roundabouts🤷🏼♂️😂
The link in the description doesn't work for me maybe because I am out of the UK? May I please have the name of the book. Amazing video subbed to your channel:)
Hi I just wanted to ask How many weeks/months did you prepare for the LNAT? I’m also going to apply to uni this year and is aiming for law so thank you for sharing this! Its really helpful 😊
I practiced the multiple choice slowly but consistently in the months before the LNAT to get as much experience as possible because understanding how the questions can be worded is important. I also did essays but I wish that I had done more. In the 2 weeks before the test I focused all my effort on making sure I was as prepared as I could be but consistency is the most important thing when preparing for any test. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions :)
Hi tristan, great video! I just wanted to ask you how many Universities that require the LNAT do you think it is worth applying to? And which ones did you choose to apply to? Once again, thank you for all the help :)
Hey Aliya, thank you and that’s a great question! Honestly I would try to make your decisions without thinking about the LNAT too much because ultimately I think you should chose the unis you actually want to study at for 3 years. However, obviously the ones that ask for the LNAT tend to be seen as some of the most prestigious as they have high entry requirements so they’re popular choices. I decided to apply to Durham and Bristol and 2 other choices that I still liked as a backup if the LNAT didn’t go well. The London unis like UCL are exceptionally good for Law but I didn’t want to live in London so I didn’t apply to them at the time. You just want to keep your options open and not get caught in a corner in the future. I realise that this may sound a bit confusing but hopefully it was somewhat helpful, feel free to reply or DM me directly if you want to have a longer conversation etc. Good luck!
Tristan Stocker wow thank you so much, I really appreciate your response and the detail you included, it has given me a lot to think about and it is honestly so beneficial to hear from someone who has been through this process. Hey Hey, Thanks a lot for this video it's helpful! Just a quick question, I am yet to decide on the list of univeristies that I would be applying to for the fall intake next year. Do you think KCL should be one of them? also how is the acceptance rate there?
Your uni choices are completely up to you so I can't really say. Personally I didn't want to go to a London uni so KCL wouldn't have made my list, but of course that might be different for you. As far as acceptance rate, I have no idea - it's up to you to find that out. Cheers!
hi! very instructive video! just wanna know how the 'ultimate lnat guide' compares to the real one? i mean is the real test harder than the lnat guide book, or are they roughly the same style and of the same difficulty?
Like I said, every test is different so there's no telling how similar your test may be to the questions you practiced with. But overall its probably the best way to prepare so whether or not its more difficult than the real test you get, there aren't many other ways to get yourself ready!
Hey Tristan, great video! It was really helpful for me as I too is applying for Oxford University . Hey that’s a very loaded question and not something I can just respond to with a simple message. Nobody is 100% sure about the opportunities they’ll get after an LLB. Drop me a message on Instagram if you’re still curious
Hi! Thanks for this video:) I have one question. When u said u do an intro , two points and then a point against your argument which u then counter, do u do it in the format of: 2 points in one para that prove your argument, and then the second para with your point against it which u then counter in the same para + conc (so 4 paragraphs in total) ?
So sorry I didn’t see this earlier! The structure is honestly up to you, so long as you have a strong argument but consider counter arguments then you’ll have a successful essay
hey, thank you so much for the helpful video! i have a question: do you think sitting the LNAT on November is worse than sitting it on September? I picked November because I thought it would give me more time to prepare.
Hi man I will be giving the LNAT this year end since I will be apply for 2024 do u have any particular tips or schedule that I should follow for preparing for the exam ? as there is no right or exact way to do so
Hey, great question! As far as the LNAT goes, it absolutely does not matter when you take it so long as you do it before the deadline. However, you should think practically about what else you have going on at the time you decide to do the test such as mocks etc. I didn’t want to feel stressed during school time so I actually decided to do it on October 23rd which was during a half term. It’s a balancing act, the earlier you get it done, you’ll be free to focus on other things like revision later on but the later you do it, the more time you’ll have to prepare. Ultimately it’s up to you and when you do it shouldn’t matter too much but it’s still something to consider. I hope that helps and good luck!
Hey, when are you planning on doing the test? Testing doesn’t start until the first of September and you have until January to do it, so even if you did it on the first day possible you would still have about a month and a half left. So I think it’s still worth getting for some extra practice or to complete the full mock papers it has. Honestly it depends on how confident you feel with the preparation you’ve already done and the resources that you’ve already used. Hope that helps!
I'm not 100% sure when. I probably have to do it before October 15th as I'm applying to Oxford as well. I'm not sure because I don't know where I'll be in October. Because of this pandemic, I've been stuck outside my country for a while. I don't know whether to find a test centre here or back at home as I don't know where I'll be then.
Yeah that does sound complicated. I’d plan to take the test in both countries so look for possible test centres and when you can book your test slot, you can chose which one is best depending on what country you’re in at the time
You get a whiteboard to write notes and plan. And yes, you do get a timer on the computer that tells you how long you have left to finish each section :)
Hey Tristan! So I bought the Ultimate LNAT collection you've mentioned and I'm finding it quite easy- I got 27/42 and 30/42 in the first 2 mocks. How accurate is it in the difficulty level of the actual LNAT test? I've booked my test for the 3rd of October and I'm freaking out because I can't afford Arbitio.
I didn’t use Arbitio either. I think the difficulty is relatively similar, it depends on the question and the person answering because we all process information in different ways! Use the 3 official tests for the best indication but the ones from the book make for great practice too!
I’ve done the LNAT however for my section b it didn’t go well. I did my conclusion and 2 paragraphs but I got cut off mid way my intro- do you guys think this will damage my chances at getting (be realistic please no sugarcoating)
Hey man congrats on getting it done. If you think that your essay would have been better with the full intro then not having it has objectively reduced the quality of your essay. However, there’s no need in worrying until you get a response with an offer or not because it’s just down to the individual admission tutor and nothing you do from now until you get your response will change the outcome. Be glad it’s over and try not to think about it until you actually need to!
Hey, did you find the LNAT book easier than the LNAT? Im doing the practice questions for section A and i got like 26/42 and then 29/42. i think this is too high and maybe the book is easier compared to the actual LNAT, whats your view?
It depends on the LNAT teat you get abs how you personally process information. You may find the real thing harder or easier than the practice books. Either way, it’s the best practice you can do so whether it’s easier or not is secondary to just feeling prepared for the test. The most accurate are the 3 official LNAT tests, everything else is just practice. Hope that helps:)
Can I apply lnat 2021 now ?? I think I'm late soo please help me how can I apply for law 2021?? What should I do? How do I prepare for exam ?? What is the syllabus??
Those are a lot of questions because you’re not aware of what you need to do. Have a read of the LNAT website for details like dates, where to do it etc then watch this video then ask more questions if you have them but doing those things should answer most of them lnat.ac.uk/registration/dates-and-deadlines/
Hey! I assume that you’re in Grade 10 in the US? The UK the equivalent is Year 11 and you won’t do the test until Year 13 so honestly it probably won’t be that valuable for you to start preparing so early. You’ll probably forget the tips after 2 years and there’s no telling if you’ll actually still want to apply for Law at a UK uni in 2 years time. That being said, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t start preparing if you’d like to! I hope that helps :)
@@Tristan yeah actually I'm from india and like 10th grade is when we are 16 and give our matric. So like after matric we have two higher secondary years which is 11 and 12th grade. After that is undergrad. So when should I give the the test? And apply?
I wouldn’t worry about the test until the year that you need to apply. When that year comes, go to the official LNAT website to see when you need to apply and complete your test. You can always start practicing early but don’t worry about applying until the year that you need to. I hope that helps!
Hi i am in year 12 and want to go into law. When should i start preparing for my LNAT as i am currently clueless and want to apply to London Unis next year 😭
How do the timings work? After 95 minutes, does the LNAT automatically take you to Section B or can you use some of your time for Section B in section A?
lnat.ac.uk/registration/ “Registration for and booking of LNAT tests for entry into university in September / October of a particular year opens on 1 August the previous year. Testing starts on 1 September every year”.

I didn’t use Arbitio either. I think the difficulty is relatively similar, it depends on the question and the person answering because we all process information in different ways! Use the 3 official tests for the best indication but the ones from the book make for great practice too!
@@Tristan Thanks!
Do you get anything to write on in the exam, ie paper or a whiteboard?
Yup you get a whiteboard throughout!
@@Tristan makes sense Tbf, just wait till feb to see if I scored enough on the mcq for kings
Probably. If ur grades are low then it Will definitely impact otherwise no.
All based on ur A level grades tbh
Hey, did you find the LNAT book easier than the LNAT? Im doing the practice questions for section A and i got like 26/42 and then 29/42. i think this is too high and maybe the book is easier compared to the actual LNAT, whats your view?
It depends on the LNAT teat you get abs how you personally process information. You may find the real thing harder or easier than the practice books. Either way, it’s the best practice you can do so whether it’s easier or not is secondary to just feeling prepared for the test. The most accurate are the 3 official LNAT tests, everything else is just practice. Hope that helps:)
@@Tristan yeah it did thanks :) I'm so ready for this lnat
oliversmithlawrence Thats the spirit! You’ll smash it!
@@Tristan I'll let you know if Bristol accepts me
I’ll be awaiting your message!
Can I apply lnat 2021 now ?? I think I'm late soo please help me how can I apply for law 2021?? What should I do? How do I prepare for exam ?? What is the syllabus??
Those are a lot of questions because you’re not aware of what you need to do. Have a read of the LNAT website for details like dates, where to do it etc then watch this video then ask more questions if you have them but doing those things should answer most of them
lnat.ac.uk/registration/dates-and-deadlines/
I checked website and thank you very much
Thanks Tristian for the information. I'm in 10th Grade now. Should I start preparing from now?
Mines tmr 😭😭😭 I can hardly write a goood essay in 40 mins. Ill end up waffling 😭
Good luck!
Thank you🥺
Sure thing!
Hi i am in year 12 and want to go into law. When should i start preparing for my LNAT as i am currently clueless and want to apply to London Unis next year 😭

Bruh I go to your old secondary school
You were in the assembly
Hahaha I hope nice things were said!
How do the timings work? After 95 minutes, does the LNAT automatically take you to Section B or can you use some of your time for Section B in section A?
It automatically moves you on to section B, you can’t decide how much time you want to spend for either section. Hope that helps!
@@Tristan thankyou! I have mines tomorrow and i’m so nervous 🥴
Good luck! Hope it goes well:)
What subjects did u take at a level?
History, economics, English Lit and EPQ - have a look at my results day video!

On average, for the lnat practice questions, how many did you get correct, per passage (?/5)?
Wish I could tell you but I honestly have no idea!
@@Tristan how about on average? Did you not check the answers in the practice booklet?
Are the application form for lnat 2021 out yet?
lnat.ac.uk/registration/
“Registration for and booking of LNAT tests for entry into university in September / October of a particular year opens on 1 August the previous year. Testing starts on 1 September every year”.
Can I know your LNAT score?
I mention it at the start of the video:)
