This is very helpful but I was wondering if the way the essay is phrased may make it sound a slightly contradictory. If the thesis were to be that electing judges is against the interest of democracy (i.e. direct rulership by the people or the imposition of majority rule on the whole population), it seems to cohere and support majoritarianism to elect judges instead of undermining it. I think the thesis here should not be democracy but the concept of justice instead, would make it a lot clearer and the argument stronger.
What do you do if you don't understand/ know the key terms in your essay statement 😭 For example what if you don't fully understand any of the 3 topics? If you don't know enough about the topic to talk about it
