are there any free resources besides the sample tests for the LNAT? as a low-income student, i really have considered arbitio and mark shepherd but i can’t afford them right now.

Question in the exam are you able to control + f to search for key words in the passage or is this somehow blocked ?

Personally think that reading the questions first is a way better method, as it saves time - certain parts of the extract aren't needed at all so its better to focus on what is required.

This is very helpful but I was wondering if the way the essay is phrased may make it sound a slightly contradictory. If the thesis were to be that electing judges is against the interest of democracy (i.e. direct rulership by the people or the imposition of majority rule on the whole population), it seems to cohere and support majoritarianism to elect judges instead of undermining it. I think the thesis here should not be democracy but the concept of justice instead, would make it a lot clearer and the argument stronger.

Getting an interview from Oxford is a great achievement in itself. The world doesn’t stop if you don’t go to Oxford or Cambridge. Unfortunately Oxford can only take so many students due to the cap. If they can admit more they would. Prospective students should go into this with an open mind and use it as an experience for later life and not put so much pressure or stress on yourselves. Sometimes things happen for a reason and not in our control. Concentrate on the things which you can control. Where decisions are made by others, then just take it with a pinch of salt. You will not pass every job interview or university interview. Just park it and move on. Give yourself a pat on the back for getting that far in the application process and move on. Young people with limited life experience will find it hard to accept this, but as you grow older you will understand and deal with similar situations better. UCL is a fantastic university and I am sure you will have a great time.

My son is reading history at Merton. Last year, fortunately he only had 1 interview and he managed to get through it. The disadvantage he had was, coming from a state school, he never had any help with interviews. He didn’t have any mock interviews. He went into it not knowing what to expect. He was just himself and answered what was asked. He watched many vids on RUclips similar to yours and found them to be very useful.

Thanks for making this video Ishaan. I am in a same kind of situation right now as I have applied for my PhD at Oxford and waiting for the decision to come through later in February 2023. I could totally relate to the kind of head space it takes into our head as I have visited Oxford multiple times - and I would definitely come back to your video and watch it when I get rejected. The amount of time and efforts the Oxford application takes is truly unimaginable and after which the rejection just breaks the person’s motivation. I truly hope that you have a great journey at UCL mate. :) cheers!

Thanks for your recommendations! Though I do feel like the Ultimate book is MUCH easier than the Shepherd book, I was averaging 32-35 in Ultimate and a little lower in Shepherd. Arbitio is amazing but getting 19-27 (avg. 21) on Arbitio was a major confidence hit.
