Thanks man! I’ve got two a6400s that I use for filming interviews. I’m thinking to get battery grips for them so the record time can be extended. Do you know if the camera seamlessly switches batteries in the grip while shooting video?
High thanks for watching. Yes it will switch batteries automatically. The only quirk is that the first battery will go to 0% and then the other battery kicks in and the camera goes right back to 100%. So you just have to remember when you're on the last battery.
@@CreativeTechLab - awesome, thank you! I don’t know if you’ve ever had this issue, but on an interview I filmed 2 days ago with the 6400s, the battery ran out while filming on one of the cameras, and it completely messed up the video file. I had to hire a company to fix/repair it. Seems like a known issue with Sony cameras. Other than that, I love these cameras a lot. You have any favorite lenses? I just ordered two of the 30mm 1.7 lenses for interviews because they were $69 bucks, and they’re the equivalent of roughly a 50mm on full frame. Stoked to get those. 🕺🎥
your amazon links says its unavailable although if you search for it ,it comes up on the listing as available... you might wanna change your link...although it does direct me to Amazon UK so maybe thats the issue , it might work ok for USA
If you're recording an extremely long video and during the middle of it the camera automatically switches over to the second battery, does it cause the video recording to stop?
Hi thanks for watching. It will automatically switch to the second battery. The only quirk is the camera won't show you battery 1 or 2. So you just have to remember when you're on your final battery.
Can zhiyun weebill s gimbal can balance this sony6400 with battery grip+ tamron 17-70mm lens? Check with your zhiyun gimbal on it balances properly or not, thanks in advance
I don't have the the tamron 17-70. But the motors on the Weebill S should be able to handle that setup. The battery grip will make balancing a little trickier but it should be able to.
Hi thanks for watching. I don't have the Weebill S, but from what I know about it, it should be able to work. The weight isn't the issue, it's the center of balance with the camera being taller. I have the Weebill Lab and it doesn't work. But the S should.
GREAT VIDEO, i just bought 2 of these, one for my a6300 and one for my a6400. Do you know if the remote that comes with it can activate the shutter on video mode?
Hy I'm Italian sorry for my bad english. That battery grip is good for Sony 6000 6300 or 6500? In Amazon Italia no one sell this for Sony 6400 every one for Sony 6000 6300 etc. So I just want know if this battery grip is the same for all the "ilce" series. Thx
Hi! I'm new into this. Do you need to swap batteries when one is dead? Or can you keep both in til and the camera will use the power of both batteries til both are dead?
Hi thanks for watching. No need to swap batteries, the camera will automatically switch over to the second battery. The only thing to be aware of is that on the camera screen the first battery will go to zero and then when the second one kicks in batter meter on screen will go back to 100%. So you just need to be aware when you’re on your 2nd battery.
For the A6400 I shoot in picture profile 10 (PP10 HLG2). I find it gives great colors and is pretty easy to expose. The rest is getting good lighting and then putting a slight color grade in post. Hope that helps.
I didn't even know the battery door had that little tiny flap on it...I saw you do it, I look at my 6400, saw that little door, and was like... Waaaaaht.... I'm getting one of these battery grips.. Thank you 🍻
Hi there, which Meike Battery Grip you are using with Sony a6400?? I have already bought a Meike MK-6500 Pro and I only can use it as extra battery source, the shutter release button and remote controller are not working with my Sony a6400 Thanks
Hi thanks for watching. The unit I have is the MK-6300. I think you may have already figured out that you need the cable in order for the shutter release and remote to work. I would double check the fit of the unit you have to make sure it fits snug on the a6400.
I shot this with the recently released Sony 20mm 1.8 on the A7iii (the very first shot of me walking in was with the Sony 85mm 1.8). The 20mm is an awesome lens, and I like it way more than I thought I would. I wanted to shoot a BTS but I needed to just do something quick. I might do another solo broll video and shoot the BTS.
@@CreativeTechLab Loved the Intro. Thanks for the reply. I'm planing to get two lenses to level up my game (The sigma 16mm you have and a cheap meike 35mm f1.7 for stills that cost like $70). And if I use the 16mm coz of the 1.5x crop I think I can get close to the look you have. But I'll definitely watch this video a couple more times to get some Broll tips. Great video.
Hey, sorry to hear that. Maybe check to see that the dummy battery is connecting properly to the grip. Other than I'm not sure what the issue could be. If you can't troubleshoot it then return it to your reatailer and have them send you a new one.
Awesome information, thank you! Was this video shot with the a7iii (I see that is one of your cameras)? The battery life is what is killing me with the 6400. I'm at a crossroad with selling and going a7c (although the viewfinder seems to be a letdown), or trying this battery grip (but worried about using a gimbal) until an a7iv arrives.
Hey thanks for watching. Yes the video was shot with the A7iii The grip will solve your battery life issue. However depending on what gimbal you're using it'll be a problem. Not just the additional weight, but the center of gravity change makes it harder to balance. But most newer gimbals like the Zhiyun Crane 2S and the DJI RS2 should be able to handle it. I haven't used the A7C, but it's similar enough to the A7iii for me to know it's an awesome camera. I would probably get that or and A7iii if I were in your shoes and wanted to upgrade. The A6600 would be the other option. However, if you're certain that you're going full frame when the A7IV comes out, then I would just go that route now and start collecting lenses.
Thanks for a great informative video! It seems this product is no longer available here in the UK. What currently available battery grip would you suggest for the A6400?
Hey thanks for watching. Try this link it should be to the same product: amzn.to/3iZHbLw. If not Neewer has something similar you view here: amzn.to/3taUbCz
Awesome wrap up mate - and such a good piece of equipment. Quick question - it worked perfectly with my A6000, but with my new A6400, the cable needs to be slightly disconnected for the portrait button to work. You said you don’t really use that button, but have you heard of this issue at all? Thanks again mate!
Thanks for watching. Yeah I don't use the cable that often. However whenever I have it's fit pretty snug. So not sure what's going on there. Maybe you could reach out Meike and see if they can help.
I’m glad you brought up the point about it making the setup look more “professional” because it’s so valid! That perception can be key 👌🏻
