Just came back here for the first time in a long time, and BIG CONGRATS to you kids who grew up to be scientists!! 🥲😍 I remember sending the video file to so many of your teachers when RUclips was not allowed in a lot of schools yet. And THANKS to everyone who remembers this song fondly and/or still enjoys it. ❤ You better believe I'm still a CERN fangirl. Yes Higgs - now where are those extra dimensions??
Heard this in middle school 6 years ago. Now pursuing a degree in Theoretical Physics starting this October :) I still come back here often :) Hopefully I get the chance to work at CERN or something similar!
Thank you quite a bit, I found this song in middle school when I was having quite a rough time. Physics was what gave me a future to strive for, and you inspired me way back then to continue forward no matter what. I’m about to declare my double major in mathematics and physics and I hope to be in time to find those extra dimensions!
Best science video *ever* and an inspiration for me as I've been selected to lead a team competing in Sigma Xi's #SciCommMake2022. I'm the scientist, and I'll be matched with an artist and science communicator with the theme being 'Public Health For All.' Thanks for making it cool for geeks and nerds to rap!
I was an academic advisor (retired now) for undergraduate physics & math majors at a large university - we used to have this video playing when the first-year students came in for orientation. It was the best icebreaker!
ConCERNing Vegas Analyst. BET THE NEW YORK METS TONIGHT 8/27/2016 AT 7:10pm ET. Noah Syndergaard is going to pitch an amazing game against the Phillies. they basically found the higgs boson particle which unleashed a whole lot of liberalism. restrictions to freedom of speech, discoveries and the known universe.
This has been living in my head, rent-free, for twelve years now. I think it got played in an assembly when I was in secondary school? Anyway, 'LHCB SEES WHERE THE ANTIMATTER'S GONE-' really does just play in my head on repeat. I came back to this expecting it to be lovely and cringey, but instead it's lovely and GOOD. The rap is actually good? The video is really sweet? This is some top-quality sci comm. Thank you for this wonderful creation
In 2008 I was 11 years old in my first year of secondary school and this video inspired the hell out of me. We used to watch it at the end of a science class, sing it at lunchtime, and every one of us thought that being a CERN physicist riding around in a fiat panda wearing a hard hat was the coolest thing in the world. Ten years later I'm in the final year of my physics degree thinking about where to study as a postgrad, and watching this still brings a smile to my face like it did the very first time. Thank you alpinekat, you've inspired a generation of scientists.
I still come back to this, years later. It is such a great song. Imagine more music had to do with high energy particle physics and useful, educational things. The world would be so much better
never was a videoclip set cost soo much. and the singers went through years of training to be there. true brain cells were used creating these lyrics. this is a very unique video. congratulations :)
The most beautiful part in that song: "if the Higgs exists they out to see it right away, and if it doesn't, scientists will finally say "there is no Higgs we need new physics to account for why things have mass, something in our Standard Model went awry.".". An important part of science is being willing to discard a model if contrary evidence surfaces.
I was in a Skype call and we were joking around about the large hadron collider... I bet them I could find a song about the Large Hadron Collider... Best reaction ever.
@@kevinbrogan9836 Hey pal!👋👋, listen friendo, when I saw your comment, I started immediately touching myself, hope I can touch you next. Over and out!😳
Love watching this, again and again. I hope some of you "Gravitational Wave" students came to have a look. The dancing may be rubbish but the science is terrific.
i remember when this was at launch everyone was saying it would make a black hole and would suck up the entire earth oh how wrong we were back in the days damn almost 10 years
Yo spit that shit Alpinekat! Sick flow and very informative. I thoroughly enjoyed it, well done:) I think this could be a whole new genre! NerdRap? I would buy that debut album! You have made something that will get more people interested in Science and learning. Bravo
I know, there needs to be more of this. You should check out Dajae Williams youtube channel! She makes awesome raps about topics in math and science. I heard about her from the NPR Short Wave podcast.
Hjembrent Kent Pretty much every device you ever used, still use or you're going to use had it's roots in experimental physics. Compared to what they provide you with, they ask for very little.
I love these guys! The older particle colliders brought us the technology for the internet - so exciting to think what the LHC could discover. Particle physicists - thank you for everything you have done to enhance humanity!!
you wanna know what's extra weird the upload date of the lhc rap exactly two years to the date before the beginning of steins;gate it's still a bop though
@7arani So says CERN. But those collisions are not heavy particle collisions, plus they would never slow below the Earth' s escape velocity. In the end they fly away harmless.
I have a problem. I want to be an aerospace engineer and also a particle physicist. Either I am studying the smallest stuff or I am building things to study the largest stuff.
Cool! This should be in every science classroom! You should send it to Chuck Lorre - I bet they could wrap it into an episode of "The Big Bang Theory". I could just see Howard Wolowitz trying to rap this, or maybe Sheldon in baggy shorts and a hoody being inspired to become a physics rapper!
For the function of time for particles moving at a given speed s [f(d) = d/s = t], you could say [t = f(d)], or time = a function of distance, which is a measure or space, therefore I guess you could argue that for some functions, time is a function of space
back 14 years later. why? because this is once again my to-go-video when I want to revisit what the LHC actually does. I've nothing to do with natural science but this is explained in a way even a moron like me can understand at least something. I am however a musician - and kat, you definitely got the flow on this one! btw: turns out I'm still fluent on the chorus lyrics even after all these years! yay!
This cern hydron is about to increase our quality of life to the seventh power and ill probably cry in anxious excitement over the fruits of their labor in this project

That’s pretty badass for a silly rap video on old-school RUclips. Hell yeah 😎
So Theo, you must have graduated by now?

I'm gonna become a computer scientist

Ye the genre would be Physic (Physics+Music)
Bad joke :/
Edutainment
Come back
I concur!
I still come back to this regularly.
This was the best thing ever

omg so much sexiness in this one video
This song got me interested in theoretical physics as a kid, and now I am doing a PhD in Math. Thanks alpinekat :*

I literally remember in 2008 watching this and knowing it off by heart, back when youtube was so random and unique
Still one of the best videos on the entire Internet!

You should.

It is unfair that you worked on the LHC and sound like a Golden Age Rapper. Please stop making the rest of us look bad.
I LOVE THIS!!!
Have to come back to this once in a while to restore my faith in humanity.
I was in a Skype call and we were joking around about the large hadron collider... I bet them I could find a song about the Large Hadron Collider...
Best reaction ever.
13 years old, and this still slaps. And, it is educational as well.
I remember the first time I watched this, more than ten years ago \o/ and still love it!
Congrats CERN and all those who worked hard on the CMS project and the hunt for the Higgs!

Over a decade old at this point and still amazing and a ton of fun. I think it's about time for a follow up!
thumbs up if gravitational ripples in the fabric of spacetime brought you here again
Who would say that they actually DID find the Higgs 4 years after this video came out. Awesome!
Love watching this, again and again. I hope some of you "Gravitational Wave" students came to have a look. The dancing may be rubbish but the science is terrific.
Still in my favorites! Never forget!
This is SO good

This is awesome, guys!! Congratulations! :D
This video so amazing! Thank you for my childhood with such interesting song in physics. You are the great!!

I remember too
Or 12???
Still digging this one over a decade later; there simply isn't enough science-communicator hip hop in the world...

That is so amazing you condensed the frontiers of known science into less than 5 minutes. I have no words....
The best song in the world! hahaha

so '80s rap, love it
I love the human race! This makes me happy.
0:42 Did they just said that they created matter out of nothing.
O_o
It's called particle resolution, when you put enough energy into and enclosed system it produces matter
m=E/c^2
Alot of energy is equal to a small amount of matter...
Still the only reason I have even the slightest idea of how the LHC works. Thanks!
