The Real Thing and Angel Dust are both masterpieces. Not a single bad song on either one. Perfect all the way through. Incredible. Creativity at it's finest.
Ah..great to read this! Abolutely agree...feel less alone suddently ah ah ah
2 of the best albums i've heard.
I like The Real Thing more tbh
Agreed.
and we care a lot, king for a day and sol invictus, there are just some songs on introduce yourself and album of the year not so great, but not a single bad song.
Mike's dancing is just... it's beautiful, 10/10, absolute perfection, Anthony Kiedis wishes he could bust a move like my boy Mike.
I love the mick Jagger strut
He dose it better than Jagger 😅
@@king-gtp i mean, for real, he really does do it better, much more energetic than Mick Jagger.
well, i think he was clearly inspired by kiedis dance moves, although he does it better
@@jukiedis He was making fun of him...
Mike Patton is the greatest rock vocalist of all time
I love how Patton is headbanging like it's the heaviest song ever; just like me at that age.
AA1
i use to be able to do it that way cuz i had long thick alanis morisette hair...but i am older now and have arthritis in my neck...getting old sucks lol
Yeah. It was pretty good about hair or nothing. And One. And Slayer!! FNM! And ST, AIC BadMotorFinger!
Mike inspired me to grow long hair :)
Thinking the same. The frontman doing the job of the frontman.
"The Real Thing" hands down one of the greatest albums ever made.
Angel Dust is way better but the Real thing is a distant second.
@@josephmcauley7605 midlife crisis is a fucking insane song
@Kry Kry Stott can’t they both be awesome? I love them both.
Joseph McAuley this is 100% correct. The Real Thing is a powerhouse and groundbreaking but Angel Dust may be the best rock album ever recorded.
Go back and listen to how ahead of its time it was
You’re bloody right. That and “Angel Dust” and his work on Mr. Bungle and Peeping Tom.
Very...VERY underrated song.
Tossed into my mind
Stirring the calm
You splash me with beauty
And pull me down
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
Obsession rules me
I'm yours from the start
I know you see me
Our eyes interlock
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
One minute here and one minute there
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And then you wave good-bye
Sifting to the bottom
Every day for two
All energy funnels
All becomes you
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
One minute here and one minute there
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And it hurts inside
One minute here and one minute there
And then you wave good-bye
I suddenly feel an urge to start walking round the office at work like that on a permanent basis. for no other reason than it's the greatest walk ever
I felt the same dude!
I usually strut, like I'm listening to staying alive. But you're right, it's time to change things up.
I support this decision.
My office is so welcoming to that!! Love my office family.
Do it naked! You'll b a legendary! Won't be forgotten 😂😂
I loved Roddy Bottum's assessment of this video (paraphrased): I thought that if I dressed up in cowboy drag it would be obvious to everyone that I was gay, but they were oblivious.
The only thing that surprised me was that "Roddy Bottum" is his REAL name.
And I'm 50 and I had the amazing pleasure of seeing an epic stadium show with Faith No More ,Guns n Roses in their Prime and Metallica at Texas Stadium, and FNR played this Masterpiece
My best friend and I wanted to see that tour SO BAD at 15. Both our moms shot us down 😭.
Rub it in
And just think. If Kurt Cobain didn't hate Guns n Roses so much, It would have been Nirvana and not Faith No More up there
Jealous! I'm 50 also.
They don't make incredible music like this anymore. Such an original, fantastic song.
Agree 💯 60s-2000s was the best my fav music era is the late 80s and early 90s
Who's they? Society as a whole? Faith No More? Mike Patton? Mike Patton is still making music, he still works with Faith No More, and music like this still exists and is being made. Either you're blinded by your nostalgia for the era, or you don't listen to much music anymore.
Faith no are still goin.. Patton is a god amongst vocalists… they still making music,Billy has a band, Roddy has had a few bands, puffy was OZZY Osbournes Drummer for years…just sayin

His voice still hits my spinal fluids...
But then he had a voice change. 🙂
@@georgea8298 As late as 2015, I once found somewhere Mike imitates this nasal voice for several seconds, it's still very similar, but it seems that he doesn't like it.
Still remember getting drunk and dancing around the garden to this song in my boxers
Good times
The wife wasn’t so impressed 😂
😂😂 that made me laugh. My partner done a similar thing. Men hey. 😉
From out of nowhere to RV.
Try waving around with a d*ck under this or a similar song
Not a perfect way to impress, but still fun thing to do and comment some time ago)
His dancing is as adorable as he is. I could only wish my hair still looked that good.
Seconded. He quit while he was ahead in chopping it a few years later
me too
i could only wish i still had hair on my head
32 years later and this song (and album) still give me goosebumps!
Só o rock proporciona isso.
No 32 years ffs
You and Me Both 👍
Keep Rockin' it!
You're simply so right 😘
Right there with ya in 2024.
i'm always so impressed with Patton's enunciation. he pronounces every word while staying in key. it's amazing
This was the first song played at my wedding reception, we still havent waved goodbye though after 25yrs of marriage lol
What a stupid wedding song.
cracking choice marra. Our lass would have gone off it ha ha
Mike with ponytail is a special kind of cuteness!
Them dance moves 👀👀👀👀👀👀
Very first Faith No More song i ever heard, highly underrated.💙
Actually the first I ever heard as well . My favorite's are Midlife Crisis and Falling to Pieces , this one for me comes in third . But it's just not an underrated song , these guys are such a highly underrated band . Mike Patton is a lyrical genius and I don't throw that term around loosely , the only others I've really thought of as lyrical geniuses are Ozzy Osbourne and Eminem .
@@kathylind2588 Stop with the overused “underrated” nonsense.
You win
Anyone who says bass doesnt matter in a rock song has not heard this
Same here, but I think it took me a whole decade to find out who did this song.
They're all putting a big shift in...But the bass line is immense.
Mike Bordin's flailing the drums like there's no tomorrow
When you're doing cardio and trying to match Mike's energy.
I can see why people are so crazy about Mike Patton's voice. Great mix of funk and rock vocal tonality.
I know a lot of people love the post-Real Thing era, but I really wish he had recorded more songs using this vocal technique.
Brother Bungle I much preferred Mike Patton’s vocal technique on this album. As close to perfect as you can get.
I wish these guys recorded more music using this musical style in general, this is my favorite album from.them, and i personally.think their best. Despite many who may disagree lol
+smokepepsi Jesus christ you have the worst takes on FNM Mr Bungle etc lolol
@@joshuafult84 Meh. there's very little uniqueness about his later vocal style. Sounds similar to many other 90's rock singers.
@@smokepepsi I see what your saying but for him to have kept singing in this style past 1995 especially would've been waaaay outdated
From out of nowhere is an absolute classic rock tune . I play this all the time and never ever get sick of it ✌️
Your neighbours, on the other hand...
@@almcn8305 I like next door to a home for the deaf
When I watch this and then Ashes to ashes video, it's hard to believe it's the same Mike Patton.
Or indeed Evidence vid. Constant cross referencing needed to ascertain it's the same guy!!
I prefer Real Thing Patton
Then go to peeping tom
What a singer. So diverse.
They had to evolve in the late 90s, as King for a Day got bad sales. They did it in both music and visuals. Album of the Year was great, but underrated, and it was a year that pop music began to rise up with girl/boy bands and solo artists. Rock unfortunatelly was losing its strength.
I remember when this first came out I was just blown away . Mike Patton took them to a new level.
He did but Chuck did a superb setup. My old band opened for FNM v1 and they rocked HARD. Went skating w Chuck too and he was a sweet sweet guy.
For musicianship and songs, v2 was the perfect storm.
Who could forget about Spongebob's brief stint with FMN right between Mosely and Patton?
I met Mike Patton in a hotel in Cardiff before a gig about a million years ago......he was such a nice guy.
Cardiff student union what a night
@@rockstar2629 Great gig!

He is a cool dude. His label has quite the monumental discography... I highly recommend Daughters last album.... Completely creepy yet completely appealing and addictive.

Was watching Headbangers Ball late one night on MTV with my older brother because Faith No More was hosting to promote Angel Dust. During some of the boring videos being played, I fell asleep. My brother shakes me awake and says "Look!!" when this came on. We both had no idea that a video for this older song even existed.
Still better than anything out there today. GenX for life!
Their use of keyboards separates them from other bands of the genre. I'm not a fan of alternative metal, but adding sounds that are commonly used in genres that I do enjoy listening to, helps bridge the gap. Kind of like what Def Leppard did with Hysteria. It's always nice to see bands experiment with new sounds without straying to far.
just left a similar comment on their "Ashes to Ashes" song and "Stripsearch". Also, can we mention how great FNM is at naming song titles?
I saw them live in 1992 with Sound Garden ... What a blast it was!!!
I was lucky enough to be born in the 50's and was around to enjoy the music from the 60's and 70's. But I have to say that the 80's and 90's music stood out for me beyond all reason.....including this awesome song.
The Anthony Kiedis impersonation from Mike Patton is excellent in this video.
I wish I had that energy Patton has. And that hair too.
Mike Patton is one of the most underrated lead singers ever

When you look at the lyrics it's a really good song
Que homem esse Patton. Que VOZ ❤️🔥
I think it's about time that Faith no More gets back together, it's been a very long time since they did anything new
As painfull as it is sometimes it is best to leave perfect in its state of perfection & allow it to rest as it once was.
It would never happen and that's probably a good thing. Mike Patton can't make more than 3 to 4 albums before he has to move on to his next project because he already has that in his head. And with a person like that you just have to let him go his own way because he's so talented
@@kimmy4714 yep, you're right. just miss these guys. Most definitely a good band here and they had some great music too.

Uma das melhores bandas da história do rock
One of the best songs all time
Most definitely, One Gem of the 90s : - ) !
Kids these days would have trouble putting this much much energy into their music. FNM is an icon for an entire generation of kids who knew the changes that needed to be made in the world and in politics would not happen until everyone over 35 had passed on....I can see the frustration, the disnchantment, the disappointment in this music, and know that the "greatest generation" failed us all by holding this change back. This generation are heroes, their parents are failures and cowards.
What nobody knows is: actually this is a love song.
I KNEW IT!!! dj

The Best Of Faith No More
I saw Mike Patton live with John Zorn in 1992 playing 'Grand Guignol' and 'Leng Tch'e', i was up-front, he was wearing his bondage mask, after he took it off he smashed his forehead on a speaker, the blood didn't stop him, though, he kept screaming and rolling on the stage. At that point many people in the audience decided it was time to leave, the band was performing at a jazz festival after all. They came to see jazz, not GG Allin, lol! Did i mention that 2 TV sets were displaying Japanese XXX bondage movies on the two sides of the stage?
Awesome lol
