It's a pity they didn't make these new tower lights 36v. I have the Dewalt flexvolt tower light and it's superb. One thing about the Dewalt is one cannot plug it in a run it off the mains if needed. Makita need to release an 18v 9ah and 12ah battery and make them backwards compatible with existing tools, 👍😁🔨🇮🇪
@@lilbeanie5078 No. The Hitachi 36v and 18v tools are the exact same size on average, the 36v tools just have a bigger motor. The batteries from the 36v tools work on the 18v tools and provide double the amperage. For example the 4ah 36v battery is a 8ah 18v battery. They are now sold under Metabo HPT.

Makita really can't upgrade their batteries with 21700 cells like everyone else because those Bigger batteries won't fit in their X2 36v tools , so they really Screwed themselves , it's a shame too because I would love to have those 21700 celled batteries for my Makita 20v tools , and that's the reason I haven't been investing in that line anymore and it's really a shame....
Unfortunately I've seen 3 makita tools being returned at depot in the past 8 weeks from air compressor to hammer drills....I've never seen new tools by makita being dead before they got dirty.....I hope they aren't heading down that dreaded dewalt road..... trying to save money at the cost of quality

I love makita, I think the 40v is going to be the bigger batteries it will probably be 18v X2 with amperage like with the 60v dewalt but that's X3
