if you are referring to the hole that holds the back cap on....you don't have to drill it out...if you want your life to be a little easier...you can. Its a helpful tip to make it easier on you. Welcome to the world of customizing your bike. Be safe.
It is the responsibility of the rider to make sure accessories that are added to the bike stay on the bike. That can’t be said enough. Thanks for reminding us those are facts. Even if a mechanic is doing a service or maintenance the accessories in general are ignored so as the rider we need to check them.
“Always check everything 2-3 times a year” Well, if it was installed right the first time I shouldn’t ever have to worry about it when checking for loose nuts/bolts after the first 100miles. That statement makes me worried about if I should even buy the product.
We don't install your parts...you do. You may want to check your bolts. Its literally in your HD service manual. The words "check touque" about a dozen times in the Maintenace schedule. Take your bike in for a service...you know what they do? they check the torque on several bolts before they hand it back to you. Imagine them saying...well if HD installed it right the first time we shouldn't have to do this.
Great vid Steve. Whiskey Project really lookin sweet! One suggestion though. After you install and before or after the “keep your knees in the breeze” sign off, how about a slow, up close shot of the product installed and a pan out to see the whole bike and how it looks with the new product. Was kinda hard to get a good view with the bike behind you. Just a suggestion. Love your channels! Keep ‘em comin!
I’m the worlds worst mechanic but I bought the lowers with speaker pods for my ‘21 Road Glide standard. My lowers came with the sliding lever to open/close the vent, but I had to remove it from the glove box to put it on my speaker pods. That screw deep inside the lever’s mounting spot was extremely difficult to put on the pods as there’s only about an inch clearance and no room for even a short socket to fit, and at an impossible angle to use a screwdriver. I tried several things but finally tried a 7 mm bit meant for a drill, with the screw in its place, then was barely able to hand tighten the screw with two fingers. I’ll probably have to remove them and add some blue locktite since I can’t tighten them with a tool. The other issue I’ve spent a lot of time on is the spacer. I made several trips to the hardware store and I hope I’ve done things correctly. The spacer had 4 countersunk screw holes and I used 1” screws with the same thread type as those used by Harley for attaching speakers to the upper fairing. No hardware came with the pods or the lowers to attach the spacers. I added locktite then screwed them into the 4 existing holes in the speaker pod, then drilled 4 pilot holes (5/32 bit, IIRC) in the speaker pod for the speakers using the 4 other holes in the spacer as a guide. Due to your recommendation, I haven’t yet attached the speaker because I haven’t yet mounted the lowers on my bike. I’m thankful you mentioned that or I probably wouldn’t have done that correctly. I also had to enlarge the 2 preexisting speaker wire holes at the bottom of the speaker pod to provide more room for my speaker wire leads to make it through. My wires have some adapter thing on the end and they were just a bit too large to fit through the 2 pre-existing holes. I got my Switchback LED lights installed on the lower fairing, so tomorrow I’m hoping to actually install the whole thing on my bike. I’m really, really hoping that part is as easy as you made it look in your videos because I’ve spent several hours so far just getting to this point. I’d like to thank you for your videos though, because without them I wouldn’t even dare to try these installs myself. Due to your videos I’ve removed my fender and replaced it with a Dominator fender, swapped stock bags for extended and used my own lids with speakers and my lids mounting hardware, the extended side covers, and now these lowers. Just a year ago I didn’t even know how to take off the bags, seat, or anything else and now I’m learning so much about my bike that I never thought I would. Thanks again, and keep up with the great install videos! Chris
Can you buy lowers that come with the speaker pods instead of the glove box? If not it seems kind of a waste of material and money for those who know they're going to be putting in speakers immediately. It is nice though to have the option to add it later without replacing the whole lower.
Hi Steve . Great video. So clear and concise . I have a 2018 RKS with the stock engine guards and HD highway pegs and mounts. Question: Do I have to remove HD pegs and mounts to install lowers or can the lowers be mounted without removal of HD pegs and mounts? I got them in so nice and tight with lock tight I would hate to have to remove them . Please let me know . Thanks in advance .
I'm assuming no problem getting to the oil filter? Also, just some feedback for you, it would have been nice to view the install from multiple angles instead of a fixed angle.
I have a '13 RG. But I like the Rushmore lowers. I know you say the '14 up will not fit the '13, even though the engine guards are the same. Is it because it hits the fairing bracket? If so, can it be trimmed back to fit?
Great video! I know you said the speaker pods are made for the 2014 and up Rushmore bikes, but I just want to be sure that the speaker pod will work with the coolant reservoir that is located inside the “glove box “ on the right fairing? Thanks again
Thanks Steve another great video, 1 question for you. I have extended brake and shifter. When I bought them it was stated very clearly that the extended items will NOT work with bikes with lower fairings. Is this still the case with your lowers?
@@Advanblack @jeffmartin6200 I'm on a '14 SG with with lowers & I installed a Kuryakyn extended brake pedal with no issue. Yes, it's tight but no issue - Also, I had the extended shift lever but removed it because I didn't like the feel vs stock - I seem to remember that the HD extended brake pedal has issues with the lowers but not the Kuryakyn...I could be wrong . . .
I know this came out months ago but looking at these lowers. I know you guys show a lot of Ciro3d products. Is there a fitment issue using these lowers with the ciro 3d highway pegs that come out from under the floorboard? I love those highway pegs, would hate to find out they would contact any part of the lowers. Thanks!
I have had my Pre 2013 lowers off my 2009 Road Glide on my 2021 Road Glide for the last year. The only thing I had to do was trim the lower on the bottom for the throttle side. It was needed to clear the rear brake reservoir.
I have a 06 road glide I bought some lowers aftermarket and they don’t fit too big. Do you have some with speaker pods in them. And what model do I need.
Hey Ron the crash bars havent changed in many years...and all lowers made for HDs fit that crash bar. Have you changed your crashbar to an aftermarket one? I have seen those bigger and eve smaller than OEM. I would hate to tell you ours fit and then you get them and its your crash bar. Was the lowers you purchased any name brand or ones you have a link to so I can see them?
Hey what’s up... I went on the website and it still states it doesn’t fit the boom system and no mention of the spacer either. Is the spacer available as a separate part?
Advan black has amazing customer support
Thank you
This video is the one that helped me the most the people who sold me my leg fairings now say I need to cut the fairing to fit my 2006 road glide
glad to help david...some pre 08 models may need some trimming around the rear master cylinder area if you are putting on the 14 and newer lowers.
im amazed at all the drilling and what not they do in an install video. instead of going back to the drawing board.

The grease trick was great

Looks sharp!
Great detail instructions
thank you tom!
Beautiful product.
Great video! Do you have any of those fairings that fit a kawasaki vaquero 1700? Or possibly know where I can get them?
Im sorry we do not...and not really sure if anyone makes them for any brand outside of HD

Wondering the same thing
Awesome instructional video. Thank you for the through content

Any chance Advanblack will be making a 8" version?

Can I get the color matched lowers without the glovebox and then order the speaker pod?

You will have to purchase the pods that are specific for the water cooled motors and we currently do not carry those.
Can you install foot pegs after installing the lower fairings?
What about the route for the speaker wires? I saw no obvious holes or grooves to follow.
Going to buy a pair in March for 15 RK 😎🤘
Thanks Steve another great video, 1 question for you. I have extended brake and shifter. When I bought them it was stated very clearly that the extended items will NOT work with bikes with lower fairings. Is this still the case with your lowers?
yes that is true bro...and im sorry..,the extended pedals wont work with lowers.

I have those on my 2014 street glide..please check SIK Baggers youtube page and watch the video install...they work fine with the lowers.
Will they fit on a Victory Magnum X1 2016?
Will the '13 and older (pre-rushmore) style lowers fit on later bikes? I have a 2017 FLHR. I prefer the earlier style lower to the later style.
I have had my Pre 2013 lowers off my 2009 Road Glide on my 2021 Road Glide for the last year. The only thing I had to do was trim the lower on the bottom for the throttle side. It was needed to clear the rear brake reservoir.
Steve can I use these lowers w/speaker pods on my 15 SGS with HD Screaming Eagle cone air breather?
Im sorry but it will not work...even the short version will hit the speakers
Steve will the clove box lower fit with the screaming eagle heavy breather?
I have a 06 road glide I bought some lowers aftermarket and they don’t fit too big. Do you have some with speaker pods in them. And what model do I need.

Thank you nice little video. Is this help keep the wind out of you legs?
yes this will help move the wind around your legs
Will an Advanblack speaker pod fit into an OEM/Harley lower fairing?
It is not a direct match to the edges.
Can put back your fog lights after installing the vented fairing?
Yes you can run passing lamps on the front of your bike with lower fairings.
Hey what’s up... I went on the website and it still states it doesn’t fit the boom system and no mention of the spacer either. Is the spacer available as a separate part?
The spacers comes with pods now.
So does that mean that with the spacer the hd boom speakers will fit now?
Why Can't A Speaker Pod Be Installed On An OEM Lower? (Stated on Website)
It doesnt quite line up exactly...however we have had customers do it
will a highway peg mount from HD still fit on the crash bar with these lowers?
yes there is plenty of room
Are the speaker pods color matched as well?
yes they are
Steve, how does one get sponsored by Advanblack for a Harley build?
Ask china. That's where all this crap is coming from
Do advan sell the speaker pod that holds 8inch speaker?
No we do not
Nice 👌
Thanks 😊
Are these only for harley?
yes they fit the HD crash bar specifically.
What about the podcast not fitting in general. Backs bigger than the front and has a lip cause of it
Do you have an 8” version
