What is Side Chain Compression + When Would We Use it in Podcasting? (Noise and Mic Bleed)

Side chain compression is a huge buzz word in podcast production, and many folks have been asking me to cover it lately. Personally, I never use side chain compression in podcasting. In music… all the time, but I feel like there are much easier ways to produce the results people are looking for, with better accuracy and consistency.
Anyways, side chain compression, here we go. In this video I explain what is side chain compression, why would we want to use it, how do we set it up (sorry Audacity users), and what are the pros and cons of side chain compression.
Make sure you’re subscribed to the channel because next week I’ll be experimenting with side chaining noise in order to make editing a noisy signal sound more natural. It’s going to be a fun one! I’m determined to find a use for side chaining!
