Autogefühl why have Audi abandoned the diesel biturbo in the A6 and SQ5?
I actually like the fake exhaust tips.... it's a clean look without rusty chrome tips.

Super Video! Ich bin den Vorgänger auch als SQ5 TDI öfter gefahren und muss sagen ich (als Audifan) liebe dieses Auto 🤩 lässt sich einfach super fahren sogar mit Hänger sehr gut zu fahren.

Der SQ5 ist ein wunderschöner Wagen. Seit 3 Wochen bin ich nun als Besitzer von einem unterwegs. Der Wagen fühlt sich sehr wertig an, vor allem wenn man ihn mit den neusten Modellen vergleicht. Ein Diesel macht bei diesem Wagen Verbrauchstechnisch am meisten Sinn und der Sound Generator ist nicht so schlecht wie es die meisten behaupten. 90 Prozent der Straßenverkehrsteilnehmer sind für dieses Auto keine Gegner mehr. Die Gebrauchtwagenpreise sind für dieses Auto am explodieren, da der neue sq5 mit einem 4 Zylinder erwartet wird.

I think the best way of (daily) driving it is to have it in comfort for most of the time and when you need to do a quick overtake, just put the transmission into S mode to get full acceleration. Maybe if you get to some winding roads, use dynamic mode.. but it’s a SQ5, so more of a comfy, fast cruiser.
Great packaging, and really enjoyed the last three videos of the S diesels

About the car.
Thomas you said something like the infotainment system is a bit outdated. You are very nice to those guys. This days I expect, at that price, the screen of the system to be integrated in the dashboard and not like a mushroom growing up after the reign. And of course, a touchscreen.
I always love your review and like how ways you measure the trunk though that helps too much people may image how big is it. 💪👍

I’m curious when they’re going to make shift to the new MMI touchscreen 2.0 like they’ve done in the Q8 and E-tron.
Interesting that almost everything on the interior(dash) changes/moved around on a right vs left hand right car except for buttons below the climate unit.
Thomas is best presenter/reviewer I have seen so far. Another outstanding detailed presentation.

very impressive report, thanks for that. But a request to the author and editor - when telling the parameters of the car, indicate the same data on the monitor. This will add convenience to view.
What do you think of first generation sq5 tdi , would you like to compare the 9 model with the previous 8,s ? How the 8speed gear box is , is it the same work , about the 3.0tdi 313 ps is it the better engine ?
At least for an SUV the diesel makes a bit more sense. However, I would still rather see petrol on sports vehicles. It's like they didn't even try to do more with hybrid technology to make a fast and efficient petrol car. If Toyota can do it, why not Audi? Though once again an excellent review, very thorough. Lots of Audi's this week!
For older people this is agreat all rounder maybe BMW more fun but no trip to the chiropractor 😂 with Audi great job Thomas ❤

Hi Thomas, thanks for the review. I can confirm the plastic on the top of the door is also hard on our car which is a brand new 40 TDI model. One other thing we’ve also noticed is that when it’s sunny the light catches the row of silver buttons on the heating controls and momentarily blinds you! Right hand drive cars also miss out on the storage flap underneath the light controls but I guess that could be in an option pack.

The fake exhaust tip on the tdi models doesn’t look as fake as the one on the petrol models. The black optic package blacken out the exhaust tip making it less pronounced. It’s best remedy at the moment.

It's disappointing that they didn't use the rear exhaust from the S5 for this mid cycle update.
How is the rear visibility while driving and reversing?

nope, and it won't until MMI touchscreen 2.0 arrives to Q5 models
Definitely don’t like the red seats. I purchased the Petrol version last year. Really happy with it. Definitely recommend the air suspension.
How is your consumption?
I drive it it Comfort mode most of the time and achieve 33-34 MPG combined. Excellent.
I agree. If I was to get the red seats I’d like to mix it with black. Or just get a black interior with the stitching being red. Either way the red would be an accent color. I think the full red makes it look cheap and takes away from the premium feel for this particular Audi, and most cars in general aside from that of the Macan. Personally, I’d get tired of the red as opposed to black. Finally, I also feel as if I’d be restricted to keeping a red ambient light to match with the interior. That’s just me personally since I like to keep things uniform. Just my opinion, very beautiful Audi and can’t wait to get one.

One advice I noticed in all your review when you talking about petrol consumption, dasboard explenation while driving etc.., however your cameras are always to far away so we can't see and read actual real time data from dasboard. My advice add one extra small cam to dasboard close up like cube gopro etc.. like all other pro car reviewer .You can edit video and add PiP dashcam showing parallel when you talking about petrol consumption or other dasboard fuctions etc..
Otherwise you have excellent video quality in depth reviews ,Thx!

Actually I think that full red leather with Daytona Gray is an awesome combo.
Hey Thomas, does this mean Audi will stop every manual dial and buttons now for the centre console? Because what happens if you might like to still have analogue dials (somewhere) and climate control with manual functioning? Because the new Audis, most of them, have the dual centre screens, plus the virtual cockpit. Having a full digital suite is sehr steril!

What's with the lack of touch screen? Is there some safety reason, or it's just economical? Because I doub't a simple touch screen would have a production cost above 100-200 bucks, and even that feels very generous.

This is could be a fantastic car but... I can't get my head round the fake exhaust and sound. I mean why audi will not just add this engine to standard q5 line up and add as an option beefed up body kit an stiffer suspension? People who would potentially buy this car look for a fast suv to be used on motorway with a little bit more accelerating capabilities, they are not looking for fake sports car. I am not sure about Germany but in England this type of car is most common outside private schools during school runs. Similar money can buy more appropriate sports car.

I love the red leather, but Audi should bring the red leather onto the doors so the seats don't look like aftermarket replacements.

This Audi sq5 exterior is perfect i wouldnt change anything regarding exterior ! I only wish Audi have similar design version shorter car like maybe "q4" in range max 4.55 m length .
However interior is really old dated, i even liked more old q5 interior which was way more elegant. If Audi could realise update facelift of this q5 / sq5 with exact same exterior but with interior like new audi a6 a7, than this would be perfect Suv !

You call this outdated? Look at the old plastic interior of the GLC and the X3's interior with small digital display and old climate controls.

In the U.S. I think all Audi SUVs now have standard panoramic sunroofs, which is why I will never buy one. Apparently I'm the only person in the country who dislikes them. I do like the red seats but it would be nice to have a leatherette option. Always love your reviews, Thomas!

Audi, why TDI, why?!
The red leatherette seats are truly awful and not sure how they made the final cut. If there was a red theme throughout the car, like a Monte Carlo, then these seats would make some sense, although, they are still an eyesore. But, the 2020 SQ5 was a brilliant all rounder
Not leatherette though, its bad quality animal skin
