  • The jets dubbed Porphyrion stretch for 23 million light years, equal to 140 Milky Ways lined up side by side. They erupted from a black hole that existed when the universe was half its current age. Full Story: www.space.com/...

    We can have faith in humanity whilst there are still researchers capable of such amazing thing. Not everything is TikTok or 'influencers' - thank goodness for that.

    And He’s young. This isn’t going to be the first amazing thing that he observes. He’s just barely getting started.

      I was just thinking the same thing! How the HELL does someone amass that much knowledge in just a couple of decades?

    What's up with these comments? Just discovery is just insane. At first I thought it was 23 light years across and I was like woah that's freaking huge, then I saw the word million and simply didn't know what to say

    The structures at the ends of the jets in what appear to be voids is quite intriguing.

    There’s no way, there’s just… no way.
    How…. How does that much energy even get produced in the first place?! How does it sustain itself for so long? The sheer distance!!

      Right there with you. This is beyond staggering. The scale of the cosmic web blows my mind. But from our perspective, you can think of it as a static, unmoving structure.
      This is something different. This is something actively moving through that monstrously massive structure.
      It makes my brain hurt, but it also fills me with wonder.

    Are white holes the output of black holes?

    • @lancesims8627
      @lancesims8627 3 дня назад +1

      No white holes would be like a big bang. The black holes are to big and heavy and can't keep the amount of matter they are pulling in inside so them so they spit it back out as those giant beams of plasma

    • @chuckevans2792
      @chuckevans2792 2 дня назад

      @@lancesims8627Actually the jets are from the accretion disk around the black hole.
      The magnetic field of the spinning black hole catches most of the plasma as it falls towards the black hole and shoots it out forming the huge jets.
      It is the part that never actually falls in.

    I believe those filaments /vorticies of galaxing squeezing together and unforming extends to infinity, no big bang, no beginning, no end, no god " creation. "Always has been in existance, and will be forever. You are welcome ! 😊

    • @chuckevans2792

      Impossible. No young stars can exist after a very long time. Darkness cannot exist in infinitely old infinite universe that did have any stars.
