- I've brought you several accessories for the IC-705 since it's release. Here's one of the most useful I've found.
ICMultiMeter is developed by F4HWN Armel, just like ICSMeter, DXTracker or ICKeyer. The firmwares of all these projects are available for FREE on github.com/armel/M5HamRadio/b...
Product Link: Go see it at ve2dx.com

Developed by F4HWM you can see his version number and call sign clearly at 6:15 on the video.
Yes you can. I never noticed that before but there it is. Point scored. Let the court of public opinion begin.
It’s an M5Stack. You can buy them for about $50 and download F4HWN’s original source code from GitHub. github.com/armel. I built mine for the cost of the M5Stack using the official release.
Strange that this product is sold from a company, I remember to see an article in a magazine that it was developed by a french ham radio 2 years ago. This is free ! Why to buy, at least I hope the french ham gets royalties!!
At least the sun is shining. Good job, KI5MD
A Man’s man. Strong enough to admit that he’s cold - and not care!
Oh, that's exactly the same developped by F4HWM. Weird ....
Here's what I know. I saw a very cute little accessory for my IC-705 on the web. I ordered one. It arrived and worked as advertised. I decided to make a video on it. Never contacted the company I bought it from to tell them I was a youTuber or ask them for anything. I made a video. The video only did about 3500 views so it wasn't a big impact video. So now a month later, I'm seeing shit on twitter like I'm in cahoots with the guy I bought a device from. Then I hear through a very reputable dealer that this french guy developed software under an open source license that allowed anyone to use the software for any reason. I haven't verified that but I have no reason to doubt a major retailer either. Also, as far as I know, that screen layout would be the intellectual property of Icom who originally developed it. So, if the french guy shows a patent or copyright on that intellectual property cool. If the Canadian guys shows me a license that's open source, fine. If Canadian guy has all new code that he wrote, then only Icom would have a bitch in my humble opinion. So y'all can get off my back about who wrote what, when that does what. - End Rant
And one more thing. I don't and with the exception of one guy years ago, have never deleted comments or blocked anyone on this channel. I love a good argument and I'll never shy away. Hell, here's an open invitation for the French guy and to Canadian guy to be on my show and we'll have a court of public opinion. Drama sells big my friend.
@@K6UDA Here's the thing, now you know something about it and you can acknowledge it and perhaps do some research. F4HWN Armel developed this for us hams, and 100% in good faith and perhaps did not even consider that someone would just steal the whole project. VE2DX copies this and makes it into a product for his personal gain. I have not 100% followed the story, what licence Armel originally released the code/project - but what matters is that he was doing this for us hams. And I think originally VE2DX did not even credit him. We are now seeing more and more of this. We are so lucky to have geniuses like Armel , pro developers that want to give something to the community - but with this behaviour they will simply not do it - and that is a loss to the whole community. 73 de TF3T
Armel has been credited in the video description per his request and is happy. What's fair is fair.
Watched this video and had to get one. Was delivered this morning and got it paired up as soon as I opened the package. I am not disappointed at all. This is a very handy device for my 705. With the unit I received you press the middle button once and it brings up a menu. The side buttons are for going up and down through the menu.
You owe this thanks to the development of F4HWN
"I'm not doing this cuz I'm not Julien." 😅 I'm sure he has a DIY solar powered ball warmer that weighs half an ounce and only takes 200mA! (NOT making fun of him, he's awesome!).
Nice meter. Thank you for sharing.
Bob thanks for the QSO on WFD to our group N0LF...hope you had a good time on WFD Bob.
Would be so logical if Icom provided for removing the 705 battery and clapping on a 100 watt amp. Or making one that docked. Someone in sales probably said "but this way we can sell more radios!"
That could be very useful. When I operate portable the radio isn't typically sitting in front of me...just the key and notebook. That could be velcroed to a strap around my thigh without a thought. I'm headed from FL to Sandpoint, ID this weekend. I'll be doing frozen activations at a few parks.
Great idea on carrying it. Hope to work you this weekend.
I love it, I'd get it in a snap if I had the radio.
Great idea.👍
but it's the development of F4HWN, you have a copy of its license
Great idea, but the screen is too small for me. If bigger, I would consider it -- will a bigger one be available ?
Pretty nifty little gadget… For the 705.
Bob I got some of the stuff working on my M5 but not syncing with my 705. Says the INI is valad but they don't pair. HELP.
Bob, check out Feathered Friends in Seattle. They make top quality down winter gear guaranteed to toast your nether regions. Or North Face, who still make one killer expedition parka. At 10°F you'll overheat if you are active and zip it up!
The buttons, on ham radio dudes channel he has a video with the needle dial version of this with no extra battery. On that model the buttons change between swr, signal strength, & output meters.
Nice to know. Thanks.
Can you have a few of these each one with a different screen? Or is there just one Bluetooth connection? Can you use a Bluetooth headset while using one of these?
Yeah, not leaving the warmth of my shack for anything. Setting up a tent and camping in decent weather while making contacts is more my style.
How are those color screens holding up in the cold? Would they freeze and be ruined if kept out, and off, overnight?
I haven’t tried that. They hold up great under the portable use I put them through. Any more and you should go talk to Julian.
Very cool 😂👍👍
Nice addition to 705. De W4AHI
Why are you promoting someone who reselling F4HWN’s free software? And you can get M5Stack hardware way cheaper than VE2DX is selling it for. WTF Bob?🤷
I didn’t know anything about this, F4HWN, or M5 stacks until I saw this and ordered it. I think it’s a cool little device and did a video on it.
Bob@@K6UDA why don't you get @F4HWN on one of your live shows. Have him demonstrate the software he worked so hard on and provides free to the Ham community. Your audience would enjoy it and could give the F4HWN feedback on new features / capabilities. Win-Win.
@@ve2dx You code????? You are a big liar!! its open source from F4HWN! his call is on the screen f****g cheater!!!! and in addition you do the wheel like a peacock in the exhibitions!!! you're not ashamed to drag Bob in your cheating?? you are the shame of ham community!!
@@ve2dx 100% your code? So why at 8:46 in @K6UDA video you can clearly see "IC705MultiMeter V0.0.6 by F4HWN"
@@ve2dx UR a liar and a thief !!!
I could not make heads or tails of that website. Order page goes to email draft? Needle meter page has not order button? No add to cart option anywhere. Wth?
I had the same problem, eventually I figured it out.
@@jakep5121 I gave up. Haven’t been back yet.
Sorry any that guys will work on website
Nice...
Can you post a link to the device so we can find it?
Its in the description. ve2dx.com
@@K6UDA Wow, nice edit, thanks!
@Gwen Patton, Wow, you have the same name as my daughter!
That's some hat you got there? Any beverages hiding under there?
Here's what I dont get. Why the extra hardware? Seems this guy should be able to make an app that does the same thing. Don't get me wrong, it's cool and I'll probably buy it. But it'd be awesome if I could use an old Cell phone for the same purpose. Know what I mean?
Someone needs to tell the manufacturer how to spell “comparison” lol. Maybe they’ll read this because it is misspelled all over their meters page.
@@bonusactionheroes sounds like drama
I’d say French is probably his first language.
@@K6UDA totally get it, but the website and ordering system will give people pause. Unless they came from this video of course.
Oops ok will fix that ;p
@@K6UDA F4WHM is French 😂
Looks like a useful accessory. (sorry to hear about your balls.)
Wow de Alaskan men
I’ll be waiting for a larger version. That screen is too small and “busy” for my liking.
Send me an email😊
I do have this radio and this is very cool. Thanks for the Video. 73 KF0CA
You do a review and don't know what anything does. What does the on/off button do?
Sorry Burt, I paid retail for it.
@@K6UDA I deleted that part of my comment.
Two places in menu or hit red button twice.
Can this be used for X6100?? I hope so because this little screen is awesome
I believe this is for the ICOM only.
Bob is correct for now only icom, but supports more then 22 different icom radios not just 705, looking to add YAESU, Kenwood and later will look into 6100
