In this episode Ben Lomu, who played King Lamoni in the Book of Mormon Movies, helps us think through some of the things Lamoni must have thought and experienced. He also helps us think through what Ammon, Aaron, Abish, and others must have gone through. All of this helps us better understand this famous story and how it might be applied in our lives and how it might help us help those we love.

So good,,thank you. Great points drawn out, Ammon a type for Christ, he protects the kings sheep and brings them back to the fold, as Christ does for our Heavenly Parents children. Ben was so the perfect person for this scripture block. The last two episodes have drawn out so much of what is at the heart of Christ’s suffering for us, and these events are recorded in the middle of the Book of Mormon, in other words at the heart of it’s testament of Christ. Thank you both.

I love the Book of Mormon and have been in awe this year as I teach our 10 to 11 year olds in Primary!
But these chapters, one little girl especially, has been looking forward to for weeks. She wants to hear the stories about the Lamanites becoming a Chosen, Covenant and righteous people. This week we’ll begin!

It is comforting to learn that as long as we are trying, even if we are not getting it quite right, everything will still work out as it should in the end.

Abish was a Lamanitish woman.
That is the other time the phrase is used, and she is a servant too. One whose parent had an experience with God. So curious, isn't it?
I was about to say the same thing at Abish a Lamanitish woman, who was a servant of Lamoni's wife. We here about a remarkable vision of her father. Either her father had a vision that converted at least some of his family or she had a vision of her father. If Lamanitish is related to descendents of Amulon and his priests and the Lamanite women they kidnapped, that would be very interesting. Or perhaps Lamanitish was introduced in the lost pages. Mormon was good at introducing terms.
So interesting, we are all individuals. Some of us are what people have called "people " person's, while others are more 'things " person's or jobs oriented.
We can of course develop trates. Both can be used for good. Inspiration is a wonderful blessing. 😊

Scripture says that Abish was a Nephite Servant. As we know servants often derive from being taken in battle. I also read that all of the servants of Lamoni were Nephite. Also in his father’s kingdom.
This is interesting. I can't find where it says that she is Nephite. Can you help me find that?
I don't think we have any evidence that all of Lamoni's servants were Nephite. I don't think we know anything about them at all.
So much food for thought!
Might it be that someone called Lamanitish was a descendent of Ishmael, who - may have become a servant to King Lamoni, the Lamanite King of the land Ishmael, as a result of a war fought at some time earlier, between the Ishmaelites and Lamanites?
That is a real possibility. We should keep asking, and hope to one day know!
Another possibility regarding "Lamanitish": this is 3 generations from when King Mosiah the First left the Land of Nephi and the Lamanites took over the land. Lamanitish people may have been descendants of unbelieving Nephites who stayed behind and intermixed with the invading Lamanites.
That is true.
As I was reading Alma 27:34 tonight, I noted that it names the four sons of Mosiah as Ammon, Aaron, Omner and Himni. That makes me wonder if Ammon was the oldest after all and that’s why he blessed his brothers and the others who had traveled with them. Maybe birth order had nothing to do with the people’s choice of Aaron to be king. This podcast got me thinking….thank you.

I thought in their culture that servant and slave were the same.
I think that is probably right, though we don't know that much about their culture.
@@TheScripturesAreReal I guess it just helps give light to Lamanitish, and maybe why the servants that lost the flocks were just destroyed because they were slaves or servants.
