In this episode Robbie and Kerry discuss the power that King Benjamin's sermon had on his people, and how they became a holy and powerful covenant community. They look at how King Benjamin sought for feedback, and what he taught about maintaining changes and having the difference stay with you. They also explore the change that comes to us as we better recognize God's power and love. They also look at how this should affect the way we see others, and what we should do because of seeing them that way.
We are grateful for our sponsor, Lisa Spice, and other anonymous donors. We are also grateful for our amazing producer, BJ Muhlestein, and for Rich Nicholls, who composed and plays the music for the podcast.

I totally second Dr. Taggart about the sweet blessing of Dr. Muhlestein's great teachings. I have been blessed from hearing him on other podcasts, and other RUclips videos and now finding out he has his own, I just love it so very much. He teaches my soul. Thank you Dr. Muhlestein.

Dr Taggart- I grew up a punk rocker too! Great to see other punk rockers grow up to be disciples and followers of Christ! If you wanna jam sometime, let me know (ha ha) until then- this was a great episode! Thank you both!

I think Dr. Taggart just summed up the entire law of consecration and the building up of Zion in one sentence. That, in order to build that new kingdom: we need to judge what is needed and not what is deserved.

When King Benjamin pleads for the people to "remember to retain the name" of Jesus Christ, I can hear President Nelson pleading with us today to remember our most important identity is A Child of God, A Child of the Covenant, and A Disciple of Christ. Each sacrament we "witness unto the Father that we are willing to take upon us the name" of Jesus Christ. When we remember this each Sabbath day, we remember our most important identities, and why we're here and what we're really supposed to be doing. We are clothed in Christ with His name upon us, and we can go forth to lift others, helping one another through His kindness and power to draw closer to Him, that we might all return to the Father and be able to remain with the Father.
(Like you teach us in The Easter Connection)

Amen to all of that! May we remember all the more and keep our most important identities ever at the front of our mind!

Thank you both I really enjoyed the way you both sparked off one another. So true that it starts from deeply loving God, and then we can appreciate each individual creation of our Heavenly Parents, and make connections, guided by divine light. A friend of mine who has passed on has said, life is like a kindergarten session, we get here, we play, a mess is created, then it is time to go home. I loved your thought about judgement making things right, I hope our messes will one day all be made right, and we have chosen the better part before the Lord.

AMAZING teachings in this lesson! I have read the scriptures for this week's Come Follow Me and as I came with my insights, I have been blown away by the two of you! I started this video yesterday, and now this morning I have made it to minute 11!!! I have Dr. Mulhestein's book, God Will Prevail, which is brilliant, and this morning I was led to go to Chapter 8, True Covenant Keeping and the Transformative Power of Christ. It is so perfect with our study this week and your teachings. Thank you SO much for helping me dive in deeply. Blessings, my brothers ❤

Could you share the resource for the quote from Sister Okazaki please? That quote gave me new eyes to see how I can better serve. The song, I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus, is what’s going through my head after watching g this episode. Thank you both!

I found the quote in her book "Cat's Cradle" the last bit (listened on audiobook.) I transcribed a bit more for a lesson:
      Chieko Okazaki, Cat’s Cradle,
“...But something is missing from our spiritual lives if we never see a need ourselves and meet it. When we look into the eyes of someone who’s suffering we are alleviating, when we touch their hands and speak to them ourselves, not through intermediaries, then we claim the great promise of the Savior with a power and a directness not available if there is distance, ‘Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren [and sisters], ye have done it unto me.’
"....One of the greatest privileges and opportunities of mortality lies in our ability to serve others….I think some forms of service are experiences that we can have only in mortality No one is hungry in the next life, so if we want to share food with those who weep from hunger, we must do it in this life. No one is cold or naked. If we want to give a pair of shoes to a barefoot child, we must do it in this life. We know that the wicked suffer remorse, but there is no indication in the scriptures that there is grief or loneliness or sorrow among those in paradise, so if we want to give comfort and encouragement we must do it in mortality.
"This is our day. This is our chance. Let’s take it…. We have the power to make our path the Savior’s path. We can be His hands to do good, His feet to run swiftly on errands of mercy, His love to heal and bless others."
