In 2022 the kids from his school recorded him singing this song and they put it on Tik Tok. Steve Perry, lead singer for Journey saw it. He contacted Richard to join them at a small venue in Indiana and perform this song live with Journey. Richard and Steve traded off on singing and it was hard to determine which was singing. That small venue on stage with Journey was his total experience on stage prior to AGT.

I'm from Brazil and here we have a phrase that when we see a person that we don't know who they are from, where they work or what they do, but straight away we see that they're cool, we say: they're the kind of people I would invite to a barbecue, He's this guy before he sings you already get attached to him, then he wins you over with his cuteness, delivers a great performance and leaves the perfect combo.
It's probably 30 million people worldwide has it seen this he nailed it

I was waiting for you to pick up on Richard! I've literally listened to his audition like a 100 times! I became hooked on him like I did with Iam.
I'm a huge Journey/Steve Perry fan and Richard was spot on! I've never seen a crowd so happy for a golden buzzer given in my life! I cried for him and with him! 5 words in audience was screaming, 5 more words in they were out of their seats/on their feet. 4,000 ppl party ensued!

Another reactor commented that if kids compliment you on singing, you KNOW you're good, because kids are brutally honest. I hadn't thought about that, but it's very true! Heck, kids can be downright cruel, especially in middle school. And yes, Richard is amazing. I've lost count of how many reactions to him I've watched, and it's just pure joy. He touches everyone, and all but a couple reactors have, at the very least, have gotten teary eyed. Simon's jaw drop and Terry jumping up and down like an excited kid at Christmas are some of my favorite moments in this! We'll all be cheering Richard on! 💙

He sang this song at the school a year or two ago and a teacher recorded it and posted it on TikTok and it went viral. Journey and Steve Perry both commented and shared that video. Since this audition aired, Journey has posted it on their Instagram.
I saw an interview he did since the audition aired and he said he didn't have any vocal training, just singing with his stereo in his bedroom, while at work and for anyone who would listen.
His wife passed in 2021 from cancer and he had been her caregiver during her battle. He definitely strikes me as a very humble, sweet, kind person. I really hope this changes his life for the better.

if you listen to it with headphones Steve is on the left and Richard on the right, so you can hear their voices more distinct. If you watch it without headphones, I found it much more difficult to notice the differences in their voices.
From AGT this season, check out DeeDee Simon, Liv Warfield, Chrisyius Whitehead, Learnmore Jonasi, and Baby Dev. (the last 2 aren't singers or musicians but I think they are a must see)
Also, apparently he tried to audition back in 2009, but never got to go perform for the judges. Can you imagine the person who told him no back then?
I'll be cheering on Richard for first place, but I hope second goes to lovely young Arshiya Sharma! That was one wild audition. I think either Bollywood or Hollywood will be reaching out to that young lady. Her dancing was unbelievable. It's probably not a good idea to watch it right before bed, though. 💙

A coworker of Mr. Richards put it on TikTok 2 years ago when Richard was performing it on a stage for all the students. Steve Perry saw it and said " I love this!" I've read that he's been invited to sing with Journey and sing with Steve Perry. Also, i've heard that he already sang with steve Perry so...Idk, but I do know Steve's heard it and loved it. ❤ Go, Mr. Richard! You are already a star. You've definitely got my vote, as well as millions of others. 😊

I saw that video, and Richard Goodall gave an excellent performance. I watch his video every single day. There is something about his story and his singing that melts my heart. There is so much hate in the world now. People like him give me hope that we will all love one another one day. And the comment below about listening to Susan Boyle-she is another Richard Goodall.
