Lorelai: independence inn. Emily: you ought to introduce yourself.. Lorelai: independence inn, major disappointment speaking! better? Emily: much better
“Only prostitutes have 2 glasses of wine at lunch!” “Well buy me a boa cause I’m open for business.” Probably my all time favorite line/argument from this show.
when she was angry at trix and trix said at dinner that no other course should be brought out until everyone was finished and Emily cut a pea into tiny pieces I laughed so hard at that(edit:spelling😂)
Also, in season 7 when Lorelai told her that she and Christopher eloped in Paris through voicemail she played it for the whole family in such a savage way
"He's still a playboy, you know. Well, of course you know; that would explain why your weight goes up and down 30 pounds every other month." Man. She's a streetfighter in pearls. This scene is a good reminder that sometimes the person who's generally unsympathetic is exactly the person you want on your side in a fight.
The way she attacked Lorelei for talking with Pennelynn Lott was pretty savage as well. And when she and Lorelei went to the spa for a girls weekend, and she ranted that Lorelei got her 60/40'd. That was funny as well, and quite savage. But this bit with Shirra Huntzburger was my absolute favorite.
The funny thing is when i was younger I was 100% team Lorelei and Rory and was flabbergasted as to why Emily didn't embrace them wholeheartedly. As I grew up I realized how whiny and annoying Lorelei could be at times and that Emily was a queen!
Bloom same! I really really disliked Emily. She got into Lorelai and Rory's business too much. Yeah I she's family, but even after Lorelai told her no, she never stopped.
Idk to me she just wants to be a part of her daughter's life. Lorelai was ridiculous cutting her off like that when she really didn't deserve it. Lorelai was unnecessarily cruel to her. But I still love Lorelai. Just don't like Rory.
Yes!! They saved the best for last👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I also loved when she stepped in when Lorelai and Christopher were arguing at the house when he showed up uninvited...when she said "Christopher.." with authority in her voice I was like YES Emily!
Yes, season 3 episode 2 I think. When he storms in asking why Lorelai kept Rory from him. And Emily show up saying "CHRISTOPHER, I think you'd better go now" and he says "Emily I" and she cuts him off "LEAVE NOW, please" haha My all time favorite moment!
LadyMs Moody I was just noticing the same thing. She looks a whole generation older in the first few episodes. I wonder if they gradually styled her "younger" on pupose, to make it look like L & R were rubbing off on her.
Would have liked this more if the focus was more on being able to watch and hear the clips, instead of the narrator over-describing each one and narrating far more than necessary.
Andreas A : I hated the revival!!! It was so awfully written! I have no idea what the Palladinos where thinking about but that was the worst. On another note, yes Emily was the most likable character in that revival.

@@not-a-ghost2206 Yes, they were so alike in many ways, I always thought it was ridiculous that they focused so much on the ways in which they differed.

I also love when she guilts Lorelai into taking care of her after her eye surgery: "I don't remember being in labor with anyone else, Lorelai!" And then, "I haven't been strafed in years!"

When Emily melts down I would have to say is my favorite moment, but her telling Shira off deserves to be #1. I just wish you guys played the whole scene.
Love Emily, she's a queen and the best thing about the revival. And I always thought Emily/Lorelail's relationship is ten times more interesting and fun than Lorelai and Rory's.
Honestly, the older I get the less time I have for Lorelei's brand of 'honesty', and that goes for Rory too. They both treat people really badly but don't own up to it like Emily. Emily is my fave now.
i love the scene in like season 6 or 7 when rory leaves to go back to yale without saying goodbye to her grandparents and lorelai finds emily buying a plane and emily is upset she'll lose rory and yells at lorelai "let me shallow and frivilous wont you please lorelai?!" bc we the fans of the show know theres more to her than just that
When the show was airing, i loved Lorelai the most but the more viewings I have done(which is more than I can say) Emily easily became my favourite. Her humour is like no other.

it should be..... QUEEN emily gilmore. mother of lorelai gilmore. mother-in-law of luke danes. grandmother of rory (and whatever kids luke and lorelai would have), and step-grandmother of april.
I will always be Team Richard and Emily. They literally did nothing to make Lorelai hate them so much. The way Lorelai acted was as if they abused her growing. They gave her a great life and her spoiled ass couldn't see it. Lorelai is the perfect example of rich white girl problems...
Why are people always acting as if humans only have material needs and no emotional needs? A straight white boy who grows up in a mansion and gets everything he wants handed to him, but doesn't get any love, attention and affection at all (which is a basic need) will most likely still grow up resenting his parents and having emotional issues, and rightfully so. I'm not saying that example applies to Lorelai and I honestly didn't watch the show enough to know why she resented them, but I guess there was probably a reason for it.
You fail to understand the show, then. Emily and Richard aren't the devil, just like Lorelai isn't a spoiled brat. Emily and Lorelai are very similar: they are stubborn and very selfish and refuse to listen to anyone else when they have their minds set up on something, that's why their relationship is so difficult: they're way too similar. They both love each other, but they can't approve of each other's lifestyles and choices. That's the complexity of the show.
