    consider this: the greeks considered england wales and scotland to be mythical and ireland even more so. the hyperboreans very much sound like the early people on iceland, which had likely already been settled by some norse folk. stories of iceland making it's way to the greeks through an extensive trade network. by which time already unreliable reports had turned into something far bigger then it was. also remember: the greeks barely understood the world around them, much less lands they had actually visited and even less the lands beyond the tribals they visited.

    • @Randall1001
      @Randall1001 2 месяца назад +8

      Iceland was almost certainly Hyperborea. The Greeks of the Bronze Age and the later Classical era knew that the trade routes in western and northern Europe led to the tin mines of Cornwall, although of course they had little idea where even that actually was... but they knew there were islands up there that had resources they eventually received through the pipeline. And they heard stories passed down from these isolated people (who in the Bronze age would have been the ancient Britons and by the Classical Age would have been the Briton's Celtic successors) that there were islands even further out where even MORE isolated people lived.
      Had to be Iceland and/or the smaller islands beyond Scotland.

      @Randall1001 At that time, Iceland would not have been inhabited by humans. The Nordic people had not yet begun to leave their nautical mark on the world and wouldn't for a few hundred years. What does make sense is regions of what is now Russia, maybe some of Siberia. The Russe certainly fit the description.
