Thanks! This worked so well. I had to pause the video when i was removing the side screws only to unpause and find out that you only need to remove only the middle screws! I already almost over screwed one of the screws.
Cool video easy to follow ..getting my delivered this Sunday coming up ..I’ve been looking at one of these for a while and the old backplate is full of scratches so great video looking forward to finally adding mine ..I got the wave looking one ..
I bought one already with the backplate changed 🤔 well I'll still watch I recently got a homebrew switch so for future reference. I always seem to get these when a video drops😁
Perfect tutorial only had to watch four minutes of the video before I just had to but the dust protectors on and the foam pieces by myself and just do it backwards
hi, i just purchased an ifixit basic tool kit and from teh drillbit i see 00 wich i think is teh phillips and a y000 only, none of them unscrews anything :( wut am i doing wrong
My only issue .my screw in the right rail on the switch won’t come out All the others are fine ..it seems the screw has stripped ..how can I remove it ???
That was cool. I always like your mod Switch videos. Um I don't know if you done shell replacements for the Switch Lite but I own a, yellow lite and wonder if you could do a video
This is my first time trying to mod any of my game consoles let’s hope this video helps a fourteen year old with the shakiest fuckin hands ever do his first mod
I had one of mine strip entirely, had to use a small screw extractor kit from Amazon you just need a hand power drill and the cone looking and double sharp edges looking bits should be the first result
Damn I stripped the Phillip head screws, all of them :/ I think it's cus the screwdriver I got was shitty. What specific screwdriver do you recommend? The Amazon link provided doesn't lead to a specific kit
This video is really good, very easy to follow, one question though, while removing the screws on the back (the tri ones), I accidentally stripped them. Do you have any advice for how to fix that?
If all else fails for anybody else who needs this just go to a hardware store and ask a professional about the screws and get replacements for Cheap asf
@@MrMario2011 i appreciate the advice man i ended up using some screw oil and that loosened it up and worked perfectly, i thought the screws were possibly stripped but they were just on it really tight they kinda looked corroded as well. but thx man good video 👍
@@lisetted1091 its been a while since i did this but for me i have a launch window switch and the screws were kinda corroded? and wouldn't budge and i didn't want to use much force so they wouldn't strip so i put a small amount of rubbing alcohol with a q-tip and after that it loosened no problem, hopefully it helps!
Oh no. I did change my backplate but one of the connector cables to the joycons went off. There seems no damage but it is not connected anymore, anyone knows what to do?
i've done my joycons before but are the 4 tri wing screws on the back hard for anyone? two of mine seem stuck not sure if i've stripped or if my cheap tri wing screwdriver is the problem
It happened to me when my Switch tried to bake itself by staying on in a case with zero airflow. Although I've seen a few others say their adhesive did the same thing.
@@MrMario2011 now worries I used pliers to get the screw out, I probably did a bad job screwing on the back plate last time I did a swap, ended up getting new screws
You can use something like a thick, flattened rubber band and put it on top of the screw, then very slowly and carefully unscrew it as you push your screw bit into the rubber band.
Great work again on this man. Was able to do my backplate swap very easily following your tutorial and was able to put in custom one.
stripped 2 screws and decided to rip the backplate off screws and everything and very well for me everything went according to plan :)

Gotta love it when that happens, huh?
Thanks for your walkthrough, it helped out a lot. Keep doing what you do.
Thanks!

I just found my old switch and it’s badly damaged from the front and back so this is helpful thank you!!!
Glad I could help!

Perfect timing 🤣

I should probably do this lol. My original backplate is cracked crazy
So I didn’t buy the 2 small cube foam pieces & didn’t replace them, is there a use for these foam pieces??
Wow this vid was great. The old one I saw had me take off extra unnecessary shit that got damaged
Sorry to hear, but glad this worked out!
Great video! Easiest one I've found to follow. 😊
Glad this helped!
Love it. Fantastic video like always.
Thanks!
I Stripped the middle screw on the joycon rail I already tried a rubber band any ideas?
Can you help because my nintendo back screws are stripped

Nice. Any back plates with the oled kickstand upgrade?
Not that I've seen.
so helpful! thanks!
You're welcome!

I have not poked at the Switch Lite, just the regular Switch.
@@MrMario2011 well when you are ready to poke let me know

So what do I do if my middle screws on the joycons rails can't unscrew?
I had one of mine strip entirely, had to use a small screw extractor kit from Amazon you just need a hand power drill and the cone looking and double sharp edges looking bits should be the first result
Do these scratch/marre up easily since they're painted plastic instead of the plastic actually being the color you want?
I had to forcefully pull it apart because their screws were stripped I got the back plate on tho so I'm happy
Thanks for the guide! Followed you as I did my thing, but for some reason the console has some friction when sliding down the dock now lol
Wouldn't be surprised if the plastic has changed.
Yes this video helped me thank u
what tri wing screwdriver i need for take out the 4 screw on the back
So what happens if your backplate pops can it still be replaced?
How does this work for the OLED model with the different stand?

You could try flattening a fat rubber band between the screw and your bit and using that?
If you have a dremel make a line and in screw it with a flat head
I have the same problem, how did you solve it?

great video! my screws on the backplate seem to be corroded or stripped maybe, do you have any suggestions? thx
Perhaps putting a rubberband flat-side down between the screw and your screw bit?

A bit of both could be at play. Cheap screwdrivers are cheap for a reason, but the Switch screws strip too easily.
@@MrMario2011 Yeah true might go to my mates and try with his nice screwdrivers

I'm scared!

so uh, stupid question. my screen is slightly popped out, any idea why? it works and everything, but just weirded out by it.

I stripped the bottom right screw and now it’s stuck inside, I ripped the back plate off, so uhh. I’m stuck

what happen if i accidently remove the black tape behind 4:39 here 😢
Some extra delicious grime will get into your console.
my nitendo switch sd card reader is broken how do i fix it
I'd personally try ordering a new one and replacing it.
Wish I found this before, I followed a tut that just removed every screw then did everything now I don’t know what screws go where 😭
Maybe work backwards with this video?
