Hi Steve, was not boring actually quite informative I enjoyed it. Nice to see some reality vlogs sometimes as I am planning on some long time stays in the future. I will be coming over to Pattaya during the New Year for a short stay this time I'll be in touch, hopefully catch up for a drink Cheers for now Steve from Australia nickname webby if you remember lol.
Hi Webby, watched these before under a different RUclips account and watching again now. This is a really good video and it helps me to budget / plan the dream of being over there next year; factoring in contingencies and the like 👍🏻. I’m away watching a band on Thursday and will catch the live asap after 🍺🍺
Thanks mate. At least your budget is realistic. I am coming to live there next week and would probably live a similar lifestyle to you. Everyone's budget is different depending on what income and assets they have. Looking forward to bumping into you in Pattaya or Jomtien
Great work, mate, dont mind the trolls, your budget is spot on , make fridays and Saturdays. Going out.. any way will hopefully be there next year for the retirement visa , first time, catch up for a beer.👍🏖️😎. Your honest with yourself and thats all that matters..
Good honest vlogging abt living costs in Pattaya. Yep u can possibly find cheaper deals on room rates at condos there as low season now but got to look around n bonus u have own motorbike. I lived in Pattaya & Jomtien over 11yrs ago for 18 months & my all inc budget was 45k per month ( had own mbike)…some months spend less some months more…Helps if have regular gf that has normal job as stops u wasting the money in bars & gogos.
Thanks mate, interesting video, I think we would all fall into the trap of having a few beers every night, Good job they don't sell Felinfoel ! Keep them coming mate
Very good realistic budget. Not like other youtubers lying saying you can live on $500 a month. Is your motorbike yours or rented? What do you do for phone service?
I totally agree, mate, a lot of youtubers are just after views, I've I didn't go out, at all I could live off £1000 a month, but how boring would that be, motorbike is mine paid 45000 baht for it, Internet for phone cost 200baht , calls cost 100baht, don't really need tge phone calls if I'm honest , you can just call on line app Watch my start up video I explain everything. Thanks for the kind message.
i just found your site. Very nice. I come to Pattaya 4-5 times a year as I live in Chiang Mai. Our budgets are fairly close. I don't bar fine buy will buy a lady drink if not pressured. It's in the budget..cheers.
Firstly i enjoy your content. I hope to retire when im 60 . Having listened to your spending i think i can. Your drinking a lot because its new. Im sure you will settle down and adapt .
You had some start up costs that are a one off to blow up your budget, i spend living in Pattaya around 35,000B a month, TGF lives with me and works but as you know your money is theres she doesn't put in for anything other then her personal stuff. I own my condo and allow 15,000 a month approx to cover car registration and insurance Hospital cover as well as common fees for my condo, it being a big one it sets me back quite a bit, Phone, condo internet water and electricity, the 20,000 covers food as i prefer to cook at home 4 to 5 times a week we eat out on average 3 times a week, fuel for the car and pretty much anything else that comes up. Im not a drinker but i have my times where i like to drop a few, this 35,000 is purely living expenses any holidays like the up and coming Phuket trip is an extra and realistically difficult to take out of my budget so i dont...
Good honest, down to earth info. I wouldn't spend a fiver on that Chang, personally. Don't like it. It's clear, though, that it's the nightlife and all that goes with it that will raise your budget.
Ty for the honest info friend. Thats not bad sir. The barfines and ladydrinks can really kill the bank acct its amazing how fast my money went in a month mid april to mid may. I come back in mid july . Ill see you at cheap charlies for breakfast

Im new to your channel only found it before , but th money your spending on chang coyld easily go on other things like the bar girls , or ither expenses, so say you have the chang money to play around with great vid thanks for sharing
About correct for Pattaya. I live in Thailand (Not Pattaya) Run a big car and a M/C I mainly eat Western food and have 500M/B internet set up and 3 pay-as-you-go phones.. There are 3 of us Wife and daughter. My average spend is just under 1 K UK a month Or 12k UK a year. What's the difference between Pattaya and living in the real Thailand. N/B When I lived in Pattaya my spending was around double, that was several years ago so more than likely more now.
@@welshboywebby You could try getting yourself a decent Android box that will give you all the TV channels you want. My one has all the latest films, TV programs and also free sports. At least you can stay in one or two nights and watch that before going to bed. If you want a beer with that buy some in 7/11 and leave them in the fridge. If you don't want to do that go to cheap Bars. Loads in Pattaya selling beers for around 80bht for a large one. The one in Sutus court hotel is one. It's next to cheap Charlies. Well I would of done the same mate as you, few months back to the uk, but it's so bloody expensive there now, flights amd stuff as well, I rented my house for a year, I honestly think its better living here than holiday

Hi Webby great vid have been watching a load of utubes over the last 12 months and planning living there this year this information is really great on the visa can you send me a link for the agent you used thanks.
thanks for sharing, do you have any medical insurance and how much is visa costs spread out monthly cheers, its all what makes you happy mate you could spend a few thousand baht for a round of golf instead of chang but if your active what's the harm in a few beers, the girls are where most people blow their budgets that can get expensive 55 55, it can be to easy to get stuck in the drinking all night party mode in pattaya. get up late and miss most of the day so start again but you seam to have the balance ok, there is loads of places to go and see in and around pattaya you could go eat and drink different area/ soi each day of the month in pattaya and still not see all of it, thanks again,
Sounds like you're on the right track for your condo, electric and water which are great 400 a day for your condo is brilliant other stuff is incidential. You won't be buying clothes, fans brooms etc every month. Good luck Weeby.
Thank you mate, I've only put £1400 in my account this month, if I can get down to £1000 a month I'm laughing, but will it be as much fun, thats the question 😄
Hi. I hope to come to Thailand in 4 years time. I would try and bring lots of toiletries such as razors and toothpaste for some time that you don't have to keep paying out every month on, and have breakfast at home from time to time. Keep up the good work...
Sorry for the personal question Webby. The videos are great, please keep making them. I'm a tight fisted Welshman myself too, but why don't you mess with the ladies? How do you get those needs met?
How do I answer that question 🤔 let's just say living here isn't the same as being on holiday. I'm trying to answer without answering straight out. Let's just say that I have a few good friends out here. Thanks for the message, mate. I will try and make more videos,I just seem to be out a lot drinking, then find I'm to knackered the next day to make any.
@@welshboywebby thanks for taking the time to answer me. My take is that you're saying that prospects improve if you live there rather than holidaying there. That isn't often spoken about.
I was in a bar, and a girl said I don't go with customer, I said good because I don't go with bar girl lol 😂 then she wants to know more, you have all the time to play the game, next thing your meeting for coffee let's just say, I honestly love to make videos and say a lot more, but you just can't, I went out with a girl the other day she said Steve ill buy the beer man send me big money lol
Webby , love the channel my sense of humour I can relate to most things as I’m an expat here living near Jomtien beach been here 9 months now and love it too , a comparison between Jomtien and Pattaya sounds good your thought would be interesting but lots more trouts up this end , keep up the good work 😂 ,Trevor. ( although I call myself Tony - Toe Knee - as most Thai girls cant say Trevor and I got fed up of trying to teach them 😂 so it’s easier to point to my toe then my knee )
Alot of these are also fixed expenses which wont occur again. Also my concern individually is that I need to eat a certain amout of protein from boiled chicken, fish etc. Not able to get the hookup at any of the restaurants. CanI pay a restaurant to cook that for me on a daily ?
usually about the same price as a beer, but can get some places selling local spirits like hong thong or san sung with mixer 40 baht and depends on where you go, gogo's and clubs are expensive beer bars are cheaper
Another cracking video mate , really interesting. First question i was going to ask on a earlier video , did you buy a return ticket from uk to Thailand , a single or have to buy a throw away ticket ? I'm trying to work out how much to save before i come out and that is a small part of it. As for this vid , if you don't go a bit OTT in the first few months then something is wrong with you lol. I think your budget will settle though a couple of bits, for me personally , are missing , transport ( bolt etc ) as i don't drive and internet and mobile costs. Excellent video , please keep them coming . cheers
Don't need to buy a return ticket, that is 100% if your over 50,you need at least £10,0000 I'm just being honest, and then about £1300 to live a great live out in Thailand, hope that helps 😀
@@howardthomas3862 I think it is relative to the individual, you will be needing to pay upfront at least a month, most likely 2 months rent, you will have some initial set up costs, £10,000 is a start but £20,000 better, you want to a buffer, you will need health insurance, bike or car, ( now I actually don't think you need either initially baht bus is cheap and scooter taxis are cheap) , the one thing I would suggest investing in if you are wanting to interact with locals better google Time kettle, if you can afford it get the latest one or best your budget allows.) Book a place on Air BnB for a week or two, go condo shopping when you are there, not before hand, and if you can try to pay 3-6 months upfront you will generally get a decent discount ( hence why I suggest £20,000) enjoy your best life lad
Pretty good budget if i were you i would go to cheap charlies every second day for breakfast and boil some eggs and have tea eggs and toast beer 500 pound on chang which is the best beer a month is too much try getting a few bears and having a beer on the beach at nite plenty of people hang out down rhere your a better man than most staying away from the ladies 😊😊
Well done : Good honest review warts and all, I cant help you with a comparison as I am not an expat but having watched many similar videos I would say that you are managing your budget very well, I know that you had some once off expenditure but I think it is good to budget for that type of unexpected cost every month, enjoy your time there, Will be kicking back there in a couple of weeks, but sadly only for a month, but look forward to the day I can rtetire there, Keep up the good work.
Webby.Thats decent pal but some folks live on £750 a month.Obviously not a condo etc but can still have a Decent lifestyle here without starving and everyone is different.Me personally go to Gym regularly and drink 4 times a week. Not slamming it back like we was Two week millionaires in 99/2000.When ya Retired here you've got to Break up monotony and if on piss proper for 12 month's yull be not far off upstairs pal.We have all seen Bloke's not lasting but up to them but enjoy weather and people and food etc.Not been a Angel by a long chalk but had to make some Healthier life style changes.Only my opinion pal.All best Buddy.Yakee Darr and all that sither 🍻an 🎯cee😂
I can 100% say I've not bar fined once in the 2 months, not paid a lady, and also I did buy a girl I've known for years a drink same price, and she bought me one straight back, on holiday it was great spending loads of money listening to the rubbish the girls say, like hello where you come from, whats your name, how long you holiday. When you live here you really don't want to pay to listen to that. The girl I took to koh larn, has her own business she didn't need or want my money. Without saying to much, living here, you have all the time in the world, really don't need to pay, we'll I don't, that is the honest truth. Hope that answers your question 🙏
Mate honest you can ask me anything at all, it's just hard to answer on here sometimes, I go have instergram where you can message me private, Im honestly saying the truth. Thanks for the great messages anyway, maybe see you out here soon. Have a 🍺
Hi there Webby, another Welshman! Brilliant, I've been enjoying your videos for some time and I like the informative content. I hope to fly out in September for 6 months but I've got a problem. I was filling in the questionnaire online for the non-immigrant O visa, All ok, then I came to flights. Naturally I've been looking for a 6 month return flight. However, with the visas they tell you that you are only allowed to stay in the country for a maximum of 60 days! Wtf! I did have an overstay once but it was more than 5 years ago. How can I get round this flight booking problem? If immigration see my return flight is for 6 months can they refuse me entry? Help Stuart
Webby , just one last comment from me , pool tables good ones / bad ones , I get so peed off to go into a bar buy a drink only to find their pool table(s) are shite , can you recommend any decent tables please ? Thank you in anticipation. Trevor
That’s almost my rent in Bangkok 😂 but I live in a fancy condo that I can’t pull myself away from as for the water rates a lot of the landlords will just factor the water costs in the electricity in a condo will be including the lifts and lights etc but yeah that’s a chunk on Chang I love a good chang but still holy moly
@@welshboywebby T&C's of a British Bank account are that you reside in the U.K. Anti Money Laundering law specifically. I guess there are lots of expats breaking that law.

Most important point when considering a budget is to get a decent international health insurance. Sleep easy.

If you pretty much live the single life, a budget of £1000 should be enough per month, if you have a budget of £1600 per month, why not enjoy it, you only live once.

@@welshboywebby thanks for taking the time to answer me. Very kind of you
Anytime mate
It's a realistic amount to spend per month. I thought 50,000B would do me and 18,000B was booze.
Cheers 🍻
If your not paying water check your on the government rate for electric, good realistic video cheers webby
Yes, it is government rate, cheers mate 👍
Webby , love the channel my sense of humour I can relate to most things as I’m an expat here living near Jomtien beach been here 9 months now and love it too , a comparison between Jomtien and Pattaya sounds good your thought would be interesting but lots more trouts up this end , keep up the good work 😂 ,Trevor. ( although I call myself Tony - Toe Knee - as most Thai girls cant say Trevor and I got fed up of trying to teach them 😂 so it’s easier to point to my toe then my knee )
Hahaha they can't say Steve either mate, thanks for your message 😄
Good going mate ,sounds like a chilled out life but as you wisely said cut back on the beer 🍻.
I did then I put my laptop down and went straight out 🤣🤣🤣
@@welshboywebby 😫😫😫
Alot of these are also fixed expenses which wont occur again. Also my concern individually is that I need to eat a certain amout of protein from boiled chicken, fish etc. Not able to get the hookup at any of the restaurants. CanI pay a restaurant to cook that for me on a daily ?
Yeah they were one offs
How much are spirits,with mixers?
Steve, you're doing well mate.. good on you 👍👍👍
God knows mate , I only drink chang
usually about the same price as a beer, but can get some places selling local spirits like hong thong or san sung with mixer 40 baht and depends on where you go, gogo's and clubs are expensive beer bars are cheaper
👍
Thank you
I'm going to be back over in 2 weeks and will be in Steve's Triangle Bar definately on 28th for my birthday. Do pop in, let's meet!
Awesome will do mate, cheers
Not a bad lifestyle for that money mate I spent £2200 in a month last time I was there
Yeah I use to spend a fortune
Another cracking video mate , really interesting. First question i was going to ask on a earlier video , did you buy a return ticket from uk to Thailand , a single or have to buy a throw away ticket ? I'm trying to work out how much to save before i come out and that is a small part of it. As for this vid , if you don't go a bit OTT in the first few months then something is wrong with you lol. I think your budget will settle though a couple of bits, for me personally , are missing , transport ( bolt etc ) as i don't drive and internet and mobile costs. Excellent video , please keep them coming . cheers
Don't need to buy a return ticket, that is 100% if your over 50,you need at least £10,0000 I'm just being honest, and then about £1300 to live a great live out in Thailand, hope that helps 😀
is that ten or hundred thousand ?
That will be 10k mate,.@@howardthomas3862
Pretty good budget if i were you i would go to cheap charlies every second day for breakfast and boil some eggs and have tea eggs and toast beer 500 pound on chang which is the best beer a month is too much try getting a few bears and having a beer on the beach at nite plenty of people hang out down rhere your a better man than most staying away from the ladies 😊😊
I'm about 50% under what I thought I'd spend, I eat in. Cheap Charlie's most days, great message thanks
Thank you, maybe meet for a beer 🍺
I agree mate totally, it's,so easy to end up a mess in this, town
Enjoying your videos mate, keep them coming. That's a very reasonable budget in my opinion. Let's see your girlfriend in a video!!
Yeah I think I'm doing OK, she has long gone lol
@@welshboywebby So you're single then?
And no lady drinks or barfines whatsoever in that budget? Really???
@@welshboywebby Yeah I know the score, I've been going to Thailand for 18 years. Just returned from a 2 month trip myself. Just wondered, that's all.

Help
Stuart
Hi mate, a very important question are you over 50
@@welshboywebby Yes
Webby , just one last comment from me , pool tables good ones / bad ones , I get so peed off to go into a bar buy a drink only to find their pool table(s) are shite , can you recommend any decent tables please ? Thank you in anticipation. Trevor
I play for a bar in new plaza rolly polly bar, the tables there are amazing, i know what you mean some bars the tables are shocking
Thank you, I've been planning going to bangkok the last few weeks, but csnt get out of pattaya, its like glue. I think I'm stuck here lol
@@welshboywebby Bangkok is back to normal now
Maybe take a visit next weekend 🤔
Very good budget
I think it's spot on, I'm sure I'll spend less next month
How do you keep a British Bank account when you don't live there?
They don't close the account down, I send money every month from my British account to my thai bank account
@@welshboywebby T&C's of a British Bank account are that you reside in the U.K. Anti Money Laundering law specifically.
I guess there are lots of expats breaking that law.
I think your in the ball park. I am married and for the two of us my monthly budget is around 65,000 baht, could do cheaper but enjoying my current lifestyle, eating out most days and enjoying the beer every now and then. Most important point when considering a budget is to get a decent international health insurance. Sleep easy.
Thank you my friend ❤️
Is western union a better rate?
Whats wise mate can you explain for newbies
Wise is a app that you send money to then they put in your thai bank account
Webby great content thank a lot drop the Chang to 5000 Baht a month then u ok
It's not the money it's the health I'm worried about haha
Only found your channel today so working through the vlogs! I’m Originally from South Wales myself & looking to do the same as you soon. I have 100k baht per month planned but that’s for me and the Mrs. Can you still get plenty of 60 baht Changs in the right bars??
Jesus mate, that's loads have a great life, get over here
@@welshboywebby yeah but she drinks expensive cocktails not 60baht Changs 🤣
I'd find it hard to spend that, when I holiday, I'd spend that, in a week, lol
Great video my friend. Really informative. Question concerning the retirement visa, is a 6 month lease good to satisfy immigration or a one year lease?. Thanks
6 months is fine 100%, also the first year visa is a nightmare, I would 100% go with the visa agent I used, cheapest in town
@@welshboywebby who did you use, please??
Look in my start up costs it's all on there, cheapest in town mate,

Cheers, mate was easy to film amd sdit l, thought it was a good idea to be open amd honest about what I spend, I know there are a lot of people given wrong information out there.
First time I've ever heard of needing international driving licence when have have obtained Thai licence? I lived Pattaya 2010 to 2015 and didn't need international licence when have Thai. Defies all logic. I'm sure I seen you in Cheap Charlie's soi Bukhaew the other lunch time.
No mate, you need an international driving licence to get the thai licence.

If you pretty much live the single life, a budget of £1000 should be enough per month, if you have a budget of £1600 per month, why not enjoy it, you only live once.
100%, when I came out here , I honestly thought I'd spend about £2000, a month, I'm having a great time out here, but if I'm honest, some days can be lovely, but it's the same back home.
