Sonic has been on a roll these last few years. The momentum is amazing. Feels like the franchise is ready to take the spotlight again. Classic Sonic has also mastered grinding and the Shadow Clone Jutsu, just like his modern counterpart.

@@Funn11111There was an unlockable skill in Generations where you could do that, and 3D Blast had the Golden Shield. (And Sonic 4 kinda counts since it's 2D, but that game starred Modern Sonic, not Classic.)
And besides that, the Homing Attack was literally made for the 3D games out of NECESSITY, just like Z-targeting from Zelda (trying to jump on Badniks in 3D space back then was more difficult than in 2D).

I'm glad they're giving the Chaos Emeralds new abilities. It always felt strange how underutilized their powers were outside of Shadow using Chaos Control, and I especially like them differentiating them with different abilities so that the different colors actually mean something.

FINALLY, a 3D game with Classic Sonic that has:
- No Green Hill
- No Chemical Plant
- No Sky Sanctuary
- Classic Sonic not being portrayed as a sidekick, but as a leader as he should be
- Classic Knuckles & Amy
- New Original levels and Powers
- Fang the Sniper
I hate Green Hill. The only good Green Hill was Sonic 1 and mayyybe Mania
I had the biggest smile the entire trailer. This feels fresh, new, confident. Inspired by the classics but trailing its own path. Cannot wait to play.

If you want more Adventure, try the Spark the Electric Jester series. 2 and 3 are really good fast paced 3D platformers and heavily inspired by the Adventure era.

@@kyleh1494 The thing is they haven’t exactly lived up to that frontiers in my opinion was a good game but honestly if it was given the same amount of development time that most sonic games were given it would’ve probably been the same game assuming they didn’t fuck around for half of the development I agree I don’t mind waiting a while for new games but at the rate they have been going it almost feels like an excuse to just not make stuff which now finally feels like it’s changing with this new game which looks like it’s used up its development time

The return of fang is officially the best part of this game. 2.5D, bringing a beloved character back, and the possibility of the game having cutscenes without dialogue S3K style leaves so much room for more games and whole new trilogy!!!

@@TheHammerGuy94 Sonic 4 was kinda like a Sonic equivalent to New Super Mario Bros. (more like the handheld NSMB games since it was single-player), just...not with the best execution. I actually kinda like Sonic 4 for what it is as its own game, but as what was supposedly a continuation of the classics it didn't work well.

This looks really great, like it's tailored to scratch that itch Sonic Mania left us with, you know the one, where everyone was like "This game is sick, but make a sequel with more original levels." The gameplay looks super-smooth, too, like I can see the flow of those classic Sonic the Hedgehog physics. Seriously can't wait to get my hands on this!
To be honest, I thought this was unofficial that was made by a fan but apparently, I was completely wrong. I'm glad to see Classic Sonic is back with a 2D formula. This game and the graphics looks really great in my point of view.

Omg it's Fang/Nack! 😄 So happy to have him back in a game & can't wait to see what role he'll play in it! Sonic Superstars looks genuinely awesome and fun. The extra playable characters are a pleasant surprise! 😍🥰
Here here! Even if he's just a reoccurring boss, I'm happy the real Fang the Sniper is back at all. Fang is one of my favourite characters, and easily Sonic's most underutilised villain. His mirage cameo in Mania was nice at the time, but not a TRUE comeback for the character. This has been over 20 years in the making, and it's a dream come true for me!
If there's any voice acting in this game, I can think of tons of good picks for Fang, like Chris Patton, Todd Haberkorn, Yuri Lowenthal and Alejandro Saab. If any of these are chosen, I'll lose my shit
@Bufudyne I love Fang too! Have you ever read the Archie Sonic comics? He's in some of them & I think the IDW comics as well. I don't know if there will be voice acting in Superstars but I could definitely get behind those VA choices for Fang! 🤩

Its really nice seeing Fang get the recognition he deserves especially considering he's a great character concept but was never used too much during sonic games nowadays. Seeing him in action will make him spike up popularity and im all in for it! They have merged to a different branch within Sega according to many people, so while they aren't gone as 'Sonic Team' or a group of people who make Sonic, they don't focus soley on Sonic anymore according to some. Therefore there is no "Sonic Team" as there used to be, it's just a part of SEGA now.

Generations classic was worse than forces
Imagine if it had Advance features too.
A game with Genesis physics, Advance mechanics, and Generations graphics would be the ultimate classic Sonic game.
However, seeing the trailer, I would personally miss the Generations camera as it moved to give Classic Sonic levels a more 3D feel to them.
You can’t have physics of the classics and Generations. They play nothing alike.
I’ve never had such a bigger scream of joy then when this was announced at Summer Game Fest!

This right here (and Mania) is exactly how classic Sonic should be used- not slapped into a modern style game to pad length or pander to nostalgia, but on his own proving why the classics are so beloved to begin with.
Also the game just looks amazing in general, like a New Super Mario bros. style game but for Sonic.
classic sonic was literally only used like that once, and that's forces
Yet they still felt the need to force in Adventure/Modern elements like grind rails and dash rings, so it's not entirely like the classic style.

I love how expressive everyone looks! So full of life and character. The idea of multiplayer being a bigger focus is pretty exciting too.
I just hope that the physics and gameplay are good.

Surprisingly, this game was released almost a year ago, and it's a Surprisingly excellent title, the levels are a blast to go through, and the bosses have some creative ideas, and I have to give it some credibility for looking amazing, and if the game feels to easy, we have trips story to make the level design more difficult, and having a coop mulitpler is pretty fun if your friends are willing to play sonic superstars with you. The battle mode is pretty decent and creative with customize your robot the way you like it, this game is the real sonic 4. (9/10)
This game feels like a love letter to Classic Sonic in every way possible. This is shaping up to be peak Sonic by the first trailer alone. This is a game I'm getting on launch I have so much faith in it already. Can't wait to see how this game turns out!
We might get a new trilogy if this succeeds. We got an Adventure trilogy (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Sonic Heroes), a Boost trilogy (Sonic Unleashed, Colors, and Generations), and now we might get a 2.5D Classic Sonic trilogy.

@@thesupervideogamenerdmore3171 If you include Heroes in the Adventure line-up you have to also include Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 in there. Both of these have the Adventure gameplay style, even if extremely flawed.
Also, technically speaking there are also more than 3 boost games. Unleashed, Colors, Generations and obviously Forces. But the Rush series could also be included in the boost formula. And Black Knight somewhat had some boost gameplay (though that one is a stretch, I know).
Point is:
None of these are actually "trilogies".

The characters are animated so good, it even has the stretching movement, Can’t wait to buy this.
Hopefully it's here to stay this time.
where is there stretch in the actual gameplay? the beginning CGI segment had it for about 2 seconds but the actual in-game animations are as stale and lifeless as ever

This looks awesome. Feels like the first proper followup we’ve had to Classic Sonic gameplay in Generations. The Classic Sonic model is such an improvement too! It’d be awesome if the Mania team was involved in this. Either way, I just really hope they nail the physics, as that’s going to make-or-break whether this feels like another Mania or another Sonic 4. The additional characters and gameplay mechanics all feel fresh. My only gripe is that I wish they would zoom the screen out a little more… take advantage of modern screen sizes! In any case, there’s a lot of promise here. Just hope they stick the landing.
The Mania team is extremely unlikely to be involved. Sonic Mania 2 was planned, but canceled because the devs and Sega didn't agree on payment.

It seems like it might zoom out a bit based on certain camera triggers and maybe a little more as you go above the normal top speed? Hard to tell what’s just basic trailer editing or not.
This looks SO great! This feels like a natural evolution of Mania and I really like and appreciate the new visuals and mechanics here. This game looks gorgeous and highly promising. 😃😄
That's because this was supposed to be mania it was supposed to be a sequel but it got scrapped because of money disputes
