You should get PremierTwo Peter to take you to the corn tempura place, that sounds awesome!
American Pete and Nicholas would truly be an all gas no brakes high energy collab
I have been asking him since last year… time to get serious about it
Ugh that'd be so good.
I second and third the motion for a Junk Food Japan x PremierTwo collab!
Pete might be afraid of being out-energied by someone for the first time ever 🤣
Nicks personality is 90% of the reason im here so any collab wld be great. And longer videos are always welcome 👍
BoooM
the beard make you look like a gigachad, looks really nice by the way :D
I wonder what japanese people think of beards like that?
Nick casually and accidentally getting on japanese tv is such a nick moment.
I can imagine that with in certain circles with in Japan that he still is very well known. So for those tv crew members it might be like gold is walking by.
I am still a household name here in Japan and it was so much fun to see their reactions. Actually 4% of the people watching this channel are in Japan.
How can he not be with that much manliness. Also a legend in Japanese sports and now a great inspiration world wide! Is this even a question haha?!
@@JunkFoodJapanその4%は私です
The collaborations are fun, but it feels good to be back to a 1 on 1 video Nick, looking forward to another year of food videos^
Thank you TOMODACHI it means a lot to read this
"One man and his meat". Truer words have never been spoken.
LoL TOMODACHI
Japan sure has amazing BBQ places to visit. Those slabs of cooked meat are worth consuming for long periods of time.
Your Japanese is very good.
Next time, please try Yamagata Beef, a specialty of Yamagata City. Recently, it has also received high praise in Japanese beef contests.
Go back in the vaults of this channel and you can find me eating Yonezawa beef
🤤 I should not watch too much of that channel... I'm getting hungry every time.
No no please keep watching
Great video! I would love to see you collab more with Felix Kjellberg although I know he is busy with his new baby right now. Would be fun to see you 2 scandinavian boys chat about the different tastes you grew up with.
Yeah let’s wait till he is ready for stuff like that
i think that for the one on one versions. the video works well if short. (fast food/fast video)
however when with others I love to see a bit longer more relaxed version. then the people are as much important as the food.
been loving the content since day one. the collabs, the solo episodes, the ones where you were invited, and the ones where it's just some really good place you found
Getting national famous on Japan television 👏
Are you forgetting Nic was the 2001 K1 Japan Champion ?
He's kinda famous already 😉
It’s all good.
I never knew beef tongue could look so tasty
I need to try it one day😯 also something thats real good that's horumonyaki which is diffrent plucks of organ meats
I enjoy your videos both soloing or doing a collaboration because your humor and energy are always on spot
Really enjoyed this video. I like to opening Anime scene. It kind of reminds me of the art work used for ONLY in JAPAN * John Daub. Speaking of whicih, I would like to see you do a video with either John and or TabiEats.
Imagine Nic and John in the same video, enthusiasm would be through the roof! lol
Both have been in Japan for a long time and are very passionate. Would love to see a collab.
Yeah could be fun
I love watching Your videos Nic, but I hate it on the other side … just Drooling here asking for a bite 😂😂
I get hungry when watching them too. And all I want to do is go back
@@JunkFoodJapan Well - I wish both of us will have those chances to give them a best try. Although I am yet to visit Japan for the first time
save up for it and plan it out carefully to get the best experience, the best things in life are worth waiting for TOMODACHI

6:50 the rice looks like it's the biggest shiniest treasure lol
It was so good
The beef is looking really good. Woof loving the beard, the meat looked super tasty as well
I don't know why but Nick's cheeky little smile when he tells us how to order rice, 'you go 'rice kudasai', lol!! Also very informative. Now I know how to order rice!!!
Go for that rice TOMODACHI it’s amazing with BBQ meat
You are so much fun to watch! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you TOMODACHI
Amazing video! I found a place like that very interesting, I'd definitely try it out since it takes away all the expectation of being in company.
Awesome video! I always get so hungry watching you xD
I get hungry replying to the comments LOL
@@JunkFoodJapan xD

Love the beard and love the content. No matter what type it’s always enjoyable.
Now Nick is also officially Youtuba since its on TV !
Reporter : "R U Youtuba?"
Nicholas : "ITADAKIMAS !!!!! I am."
LoL I am Youtubaa
The longer the content the better!
Got it TOMODACHI
love the longer videos, you need to teach the trash taste boys on food. their points on japanese food is so sallow
LoL 😂 interesting point. But I would be happy to foodiecate them
I'm so jealous of the food you eat, especially with the meat episodes, they kill me!🤤 I can feel the flavour through your videos!
Good to know TOMODACHI
I want you to take your wife on a summer trip to the mountains or the sea. Maybe some Kyoto heirloom veggie experience, or a trip to Koiwai Farms, or some Ama seafood hut in Ise, or a trip to Sado Island or something? I'd actually be super interested in the latter, because while "Vacation in Sado Island" does sound like an AV title, that's kinda what I'm planning to do later this year. (I also hear there's a "Maso temple" in Tokyo. which is also on the agenda just to complete the pair in proper style.)
We are filming a trip to a island next month. So hang around for that one to get released
1:09 Camera crew was like "A wild Nicholas Pettas has appeared, here in his natural habitat, the BBQ district." :p
LMFAO A wild Nicholas Pettas!!!!!
Dude, your beard is epic as is your channel. I'm glad to be on the ground floor without you kicking me there!
Thank you TOMODACHI
I really like the longer format, I do like the shorts, too.
Depending on the time I have available,
I watch both.
Great video :)
Thank you. Can always binge watch stuff when you have time. I think it’s the beauty of RUclips
Another great episode 🎉😊, keep rocking the beard! Greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿
RockNRoll TOMODACHI
its a good day when nick upload im about to have a good video for a bussin meal
Enjoy TOMODACHI
Fun fact: Japanese BBQ (yakiniku) is actually Korean BBQ. Japan never had a meat grilling culture or this style of eating. This is Korean barbecue and Koreans brought it to Japan in the 1920's. Japan literally used to call it "Korean food (Kankoku ryori)" but they changed the name to yakiniku (grilled meat) in the 1960's. Many yakiniku restaurants in Japan are still owned and operated by Koreans.
I hear you. And yes you are right fundamentally, except you will know when you are in a Korean BBQ restaurant compared the a Japanese Yakiniku. The condiments are different and the style of service is different! Just like Ramen is Chinese originally I would dare to say that Ramen is a Japanese dish.
@@JunkFoodJapan But it is wrong to call yakiniku "Japanese cuisine." It would be more fit to call it Korean-Japanese cuisine. Japan actually used to call it Korean food but they started calling it yakiniku in the 1960's, thus removing all references to its Korean origins. Ramen is just the Japanese pronunciation of Lamian so they kept the original name and thus we know it originally comes from China. But Japan did not do this for Korean barbecue (gogigui) and started calling it Japanese barbecue (yakiniku).
Interesting for sure! We can always learn something new.
How about pasta? Originally from China too. But I don’t see any homage to that ?
@@JunkFoodJapan Pasta is not from China lol. That is a myth. There is no verifiable historical evidence that Italian pasta has its roots in Chinese noodles.
@@JunkFoodJapan There is no verifiable historical evidence that Italian pasta has its origins from Chinese noodles. Historians say pasta culture was already flourishing in the Mediterranean regions before Marco Polo traveled to Asia.
i so understand having grilled meat with rice, it so good together
This was a great meal, I would only wished for bigger portions so I could finish that big bowl of rice🍚😋
ii shito Tomodachi! I like the little chimmneys above the grills.
hello Nic !! i loved your indian food in japan video and was wondering if there'll ever be another one
Absolutely TOMODACHI. It’s just Nic fyi but I need to try so much more Indian food for sure. It’s amazing
@@JunkFoodJapan ohh sorry about that name error
No worries and I absolutely love Indian food, my wife lived in Indai for 6 months many years ago, so she will cook for me once in a while
"Akasaka" is fun to say.
Beard looks amazing!! I'm sure you will grow a majestic beard. Beard aside, I too love going to solo yakiniku shops as a woman. Feels relaxed, and I can eat whatever I want!
There you go
The seared tongue looked so gooood 🎉🤤
It was amazing
@@JunkFoodJapan Itadakimasu!
Your beard suits you very well ! You seem to take really good Care of it !
You're doing a great job on that beard !
Thanks for the video ! Always a pleasure to follow you !
Thank you. The beard was a fun experience, I might grow it back in winter
You even made the liver look good. It's not my favorite but I'll try it if I make it to that restaurant!
Love Yakiniku! Every time we are in japan, we go out eating Yakiniku multiple times. It's just so delicious and fun. 🤤 Prefer the charcoal ones though.
Yeah wait till I film at Ushizaka it’s coming
I was doing an All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ night on Friday (with plentiful soju), so thanks for furthering the meat grilling mindset for me, Mr. Wolverine 😁
You are welcome TOMODACHI happy to get it right
keep it up Nic.
It's interesting to see the solo dining experiences. As to ideas/requests: have you ever considered going to a Mochi festival/trying different kind of purple yam treats? Or even better, trying the junk food at a karaoke place (with Mr Ladybeard).
karaoke with Ladybeard? I do not know if Tokyo is ready for that power.
LoL 😂
I went to karaoke with Jackie last time
I love your videos! Regarding colabs, maybe some longer "colab specials" would be cool and bring more ppl to the channel. But not too often, just to freshen it up a bit once in a while - as I said, I love your videos. Don't mind me tho, it's whatever pleases you and works a little with the algorithm. I'm hooked already and not going to stop watching. Also congrats, seems like your name is a bit legendary in the land of the rising sun, heh. Nice
Thank you TOMODACHI I really appreciate your support. I am not RUclips famous but most people in their 30’s or 40’s or 50’s in Japan either know me or have heard of me. But this is all 20 years ago
@@JunkFoodJapan well, 20 years seems like the day before yesterday to me - I don't lie with my user name :)
I welcome collabs and solo content. You just keep being you, friend.
I want him to collaborate with Joey "The Anime Man"! They could create great content together, those food challenges with Chris Abroad would be nothing to the "Iron Stomach Master" Nic would slay at the Food challenges! Look at all the junk food he already eats! Joey wouldn't stand a chance!
I want this collab to happen for sure
excellent
I regret I only had yakiniku once when I was in Japan but there was a lot of food I wish I had more of
The beard is glorious...enough said 💯
Thank you TOMODACHI it was my first time to go for it and it was cool. 😎
Love the beard Nick, give my regards to Odin.
I’ll say hi 👋
I reaallly wanna see what that local TV segment was from the source cause it seems really interesting but I couldnt find it on youtube
Yeah I don’t think you will find it anywhere. But the one comedian used to do Kyokushin so I offered him a free low kick and he accepted
Hey Brother! I was wondering since you're big on food if you've ever considered adding cooking videos of you making Japanese and even other various dishes as part of your channel? Like where you would be in your kitchen etc and teaching/showing people how dishes are made and such? I mean even if you wouldn't consider yourself a "chef" i think it would still be cool that you'd be doing such things and others would be interested as well! I know i personally would have a blast watching you construct all kindsa foods!
That’s a great idea and it’s exactly what I am planning on doing with the LIVE STREAMS come end of September and I should be ready for our first cooking show.
Thats great! I shall definitely be front and center when that happens! Cant wait!
Sometimes full three rounds are better than quick knockuot, especially to watch. Keep them coming sensei, great videos :)
Sure thing TOMODACHI
You’re like the Guy Fieri of Asia 😅 Just add on flame tips to your hair🔥 love this channel. Subscribed.
Welcome to the channel TOMODACHI Guy is a cool guy and I actually love bleaching my hair
This was awesome, love the solo videos, but I believe I've seen suggestions for Pete (PremierTwo) who'd be INCREDIBLE! Also any or all of the Trash Taste boys would be super fun
I am working on it
I love that!!!! You are doing a great job of making me wanna visit Japan lol @@JunkFoodJapan
From my own searches there is a lot of grill places is there anything you look for when picking where to go also is it better to go expensive or budget and what is generally the difference?
Well this place was very reasonable but I was invited to go so I didn’t really pick it. I think that reasonable budget is between ¥4,000 to ¥6,000 per person for good quality. I would avoid all you can eat places as it’s really not worth it. The super expensive places are usually just because of location. Look at reviews and see what people say is my first advice on choosing. Also certain areas are famous for Yakiniku and Akasaka is one on them. You can’t really go wrong in that area
@@JunkFoodJapan The all you can eat advice was very helpful thank you.
Do you know if Ramuchan Okachimachi -lamb BBQ dining or other Ghengis Khan places in Tokyo are good places to experience the same lamb dish Chris did?
I don’t know what lamb he had? But there are many places in Tokyo that will offer that
Daaaamn that looks good.
Maybe i should stop watching you videos like 1-2 hours before i eat dinner xD
You should watch while eating
@@JunkFoodJapan definitely the wise choice xD
Yakiniku ! Good stuff ! How does your cameraman not get hungry during these taping sessions ? I was wishing for smell-a-vision once that grill started.
They always get hungry but I try to share as much as possible
I'm guessing that red thing in the middle is a fan? Seems like it's off 😄 but man, what a video. Svenskt fan här. Du är ju för härlig! Jag älskar din attityd i dina videos. Så positiv. Allt ser extra gott ut när du äter något.
Welcome to the channel my Swedish VIKING TOMODACHI glad for at du kan li min kanal.
Yeah, your brother pulls off the Old Man Logan look.
Right! He does it good
yummy and ur beard looks good on you!
lookin good boss, ur a beard natural

I love that simple food style. Some good grease, good meat and a good grill. Damn :D
By the way. Love your beard. Viking style with an asian punch....Ush
BoooM and welcome to the channel TOMODACHI
I hate liver but love liver pate. I think it’s the smell and texture of regular liver. I have sensory issues.
Mmm I wish I could smell that beef through the video though!

Drooling ?
Smokes goes everywhere but the fan
LoL
Hardly any yakiniku places where I am. The bigger urban centres have a few.
If you can reach out to the Trash Taste crew, I'd like to see you collab with each of the "BOYS" So here's my idea: Do a set of 3 videos going to each of host's top 3 spots with with Chris or Natsuki dropping a cameo. You could also show up on the Trash Taste podcast and give the Boys a run through of your martial arts history in japan and elsewhere, or do a produced special with the Boys on your martial arts training regime and Dojo!
You have such an infectious personality and I think you deserve to grow, I love your vids both long and short form!
Thank you so much TOMODACHI and all
Great ideas. You never know what the future has in store for me
@@JunkFoodJapan this gets me excited for the things to come!
Made the mistake of watching this hungry, nothing I have in my kitchen will top this.
I recently discovered this channel. You remind me of Anthony Bourdain, but less cynical and more energetic and stoic. I'm glad I found this channel. Now and then RUclips finds me a diamond in the rough.
You had me at Bourdain the king of food travel shows. RIP ! I shall do my best to find my own spot in the world of food shows TOMODACHI
@@JunkFoodJapan Yeah, I believe you said you were Danish, but you have more of a Italian stoicism and energy. Not as shy and awkward as a Dane.
Born in greece and raised in Denmark, been here since 1991
@@JunkFoodJapan Greece, cool! It's funny and ironic in a way, because Greek food is known to be healthy, but your name and channel revolves around junkfood, haha.
It’s actually just a food show with a catchy brand name. But that’s because I classify too much food as junk. And the better it gets the more I eat… and I am not shy of just eating something that doesn’t make any sense at all too
Kon'nichiwa Tomodachi, another great video, I have to ask, what is the red thing the chef pulled down as it looked like some sort of meat tenderiser, also when you asked who you should collaborate with, I say your wife, then Pete Premier Two, maybe Connor aka CDawgVA, Natsuke, Ryotoro, Chris Broad and Sharla in a few different videos.
It’s a ventilation sucker. I didn’t work very well because there was lots of smoke 💨
@@JunkFoodJapan That makes sense then and yeah it didn't work
yay
Your brother really does look like wolverine 😆
Right
Yakiniku is definitely one of my guilty pleasures here in Japan, although admittedly it can get bloody expensive! It's one of those "special occasion" types of meals, at least for me.
On an unrelated topic, is there something strange going on with the sound levels? I definitely felt like the first part of the video was perfectly fine, but the restaurant part was kinda muffled. That led to hilarity with the off-the-scale ITADAKIMASU and UMAI, though!
I didn’t notice that. But here you are:
ITADAKIMASU!
I Would love to do this but i'd feel so awkward not speaking japanese and having another person cook food for me right in front of me when i can't even communicate lmao
You’ll be fine !
There really should be a disclaimer at the beginning of each video stating viewers should be sitting and eating while watching
LOL 😂
