    Nice timing posting that.
Means we get to fly vicariously during lockdown.

    Hi Stuart,
Love the video - nice smooth effortless flying - as it should be.
In the first two tasks you demonstrated slow flight, then increasing speed to 80kts
In flying we learn all the time. I was interested to see that you appeared to be pitching the aircraft via trim.
I may be wrong but I think most pilots would trim after the aircraft has reached the desired speed/pitch. Having said that - your demonstrated method was brilliantly simple and effective.
I would love to hear what other pilots think?
This is very cheeky but if you could find the time - more vids like this will be very useful for all pilot levels as they certainly give food for thought.
    Very impressed
    Neil

      Hi Neil,
      Thanks for your positive comments.
All the controls on the C42 are very light, positive, and have an immediate effect. When making small speed changes with only a small change in power setting then yes we would normally alter the pitch and then trim once settled. On this task with a large change in power and speed range I was using a combination of stick pressure and adjusting the trim simultaneously to try to get a smoother transition without building too much out of trim stick force. I suppose each aircraft is different but this technique seems to work well on this type

      Hi Stuart,
You are spot on with your reply. The C42 with its electric trim buttons on the stick lends itself to this smooth transition trimming.
I guess instructors on C42s will still require trimming after the required speed is achieved. Post GST pilots will then adopt methods suitable to aircraft type.
I am in complete agreement with you on regular and structured flying practice as it will enhance skills and is also a fun thing to do.

great video, thanks! Btw how easily does the C42 stall?

    • @stuartwaite2030

The C42B is very stable in pitch and you have to deliberately raise the pitch angle to introduce the stall. There is some pre-stall buffeting and the controls become less responsive. The stall itself is very soft and predictable and easy to unstall by simply lowering the nose. It rarely drops a wing but as with all aircraft it is essential to keep it in balance with the rudder. If the wing drops you must resist the temptation to lift it with aileron. It is virtually impossible to stall with full power and stay within the 45deg max allowable pitch.

Hey Stuart! Good flying, Enjoyable video ! I’m looking for different camera angles in the c42 (do check out my vids see what you think?) I like this angle. Especially when solo!

      Hi Ben,
Thanks for your kind words. I've tried one or two camera locations but this one seems best as it shows most of the instruments as well as the pilot's eye level "sight picture" usefull when analysing aproaches and landings. I've checked out some of your vids and I must say they are very nicely produced. What do you use to capture cockpit audio?

@@stuartwaite2030 sorry for the late reply Stuart. I have a recent video on how I capture audio - and my next video is about improving the audio. But in short I use a separate audio recorder thats plugged in line with the headset...hard to explain but its a really versatile system. Catch you soon....

@@BenAtkinsonVideos Hi Ben, just checked out your vid on audio settings. All usefull information but I must say that in that particular vid the audio in the C42 seemed much much quieter than the one recorded in your house! I've opted for the USB audio lead from CrazedPilot that plugs directly into mt GoPro Hero 5 Black and interfaces directly with the aircraft intercom. My C42 does not appear to have a output level control onlt a volume on the radio that does not affect the mic volume. My 1st trials seem quite favourable with a balanced sound level. The only problem I'm encountering is the squelch level on the mic of my DC headseat which does not always pick up speach immediately if i speak quietly. I gues I'll have to learn to SHOUT :-)

Hey Stuart - thanks for watching and for feedback. Well, the audio on the entire video is peaking at similar levels and the volumes aren’t any quieter, surprisingly...though the audio is ‘thinner’, doesn’t have any bass at all which makes is sound quieter...is that makes sense. So it depends a lot on what you’re listening on, but thanks for the feedback..
Yeh that’s a good method. And squelch and vox are worth fiddling with, I have both very low so I can continue taking whatever volume without shouting! Ha...all the best
