    Summer’s program is awesome!!
    It’s been a long time calling for me to learn calisthenics and I finally decided to go for it .
    I am on week 7 and seeing great results . Always wanting to
    learn the Crow pose and I finally got it accomplished
    through her program . Also I look and feel stronger in such a short period of time. Summer is such a great coach and inspiration . I get the feeling she is a wonderful person too.❤️

    Hey Summer! Your beginner calisthenics plan was awesome for me - I have been a yoga teacher for years and have a lot of arm balancing strength, but I realized that yoga alone can be lacking in that it is all “push” and no “pull”. When I first started your workout plan, I was surprised that I couldn’t do a single pull up, despite having the arm strength to hold a crow pose for 60+ seconds. By the end of the program I could do three unassisted pull ups in a row, and my next goal is to get to 10!
    This video was really informative, especially your discussion on your diet, since I’m vegan myself and I have been worrying about eating loads of protein, but I’m realizing that I’m focusing too much on macros and not enough on micronutrients and just eating whole plant foods. Thank you for the reminder ✌️🌱

    One thing about calisthenics is you can get seriously strong. One of the most violent prisoners in England's history was in solitary confinement for 47 years. He broke a bunch of records. The guy could do 190 push ups in 60 seconds. Lift two full grown guards on his shoulders with ease. When you have swat teams trying to keep you down and all of that is from body weight. Scary shit. He's a lot better now, from what I hear. He wrote a book called solitary fitness. It's a interesting read. Highly recommend checking it out.

    I think I just found a new life goal for myself. I think this is exactly what I want to do with my body. It will be tough though, I'm currently in the morbidly obese category of weight and while I'm not as big as you imagine and I'm able to move and do most of the things that I want to do, I am not strong. I've always been big, I was 185lbs at the end of high school and I'm only 5'2". I told myself that I was active enough, I didn't workout and hikes were not easy for me, but I thought that I my body was just fat, more prone to it. However, I am even less active now and I am turning 40yrs old next year. I've been seriously de-conditioned over the years. One big difference is having a new partner, he struggled with his weight (over 300lbs) and lost it all through a tremendous amount of effort. He helped me see that the weight I am at is not healthy for me and that I was responsible for eating myself to that weight even if it seemed like I wasn't that out of shape. Over the last few years I've been pushing myself to try to eat healthier (Partner is pescatarian) and lose the weight. While my fitness has seen a slight increase I haven't seen much fat loss. As a person who has felt unattractive my whole life and who has been a little self-conscious about her weight, I struggle with moving from being fat positive to trying to lose weight while not hating myself for gaining weight or being fat. Fat is natural and it isn't the enemy. But, seeing this video I have found my direction in life. I've always wanted to be strong and because I was able to lift (not at the gym, just in life) more than other women and some men I thought that I was decently strong. I struggled immensely with being able to push myself physically. Over the years, struggling through my own issues, I realized that I had perfectionism and removing that I was able to make more progress in pushing myself in small ways to be more physical and increase strength. Right now though, I haven't seen much progress. Seeing this video reminded me of that dream to become fit. To be confident and capable in my body. I think now is the right time for me to try this and I think it might change my life for the better. Thank you for putting out these videos. Not only can I see how hard you have worked to create an amazingly capable body, but you are honest about how long it has taken you to get there and that making progress is a struggle. Lots of people want to either say everything will be easy to lose weight or that everything will be extremely difficult. While we know it will be extremely difficult, those who push those ideas are often the ones who are constantly pushing their bodies to the max to where it is painful. You, yourself are pushing your body but it seems like you are pushing your body within your limits. You are listening to your body and pushing only as much as it can handle rather than trying to push for results faster. Everything about this is how I want to be and how I want to live my life. I have always wanted to be this person but couldn't explain it until I saw this. I hope that I can find the strength to push forwards towards this goal. Your videos breaking down the steps is exactly what I need to push myself closer every time and not injure myself in the process.

    The Mobility (4:20) became so important for me. I did many sports in younger years. Between 30 and 40 I neglected this and it felt more and more bad. It wasnt the strange that I missed but all those easy movements like put your socks on your feet became more and more difficult. I begann to hate those feelings and now I do 4-5h sports/week now over a year. And I mix dumpbell, kettlebell, bodyweight workouts and cardio with stretch and mobility and.... I'm a new man 😂 have fun with sports, have fun with all your daily movements ✊🎉

    The earlier in life a person gets started in physical fitness the better. It makes a big difference in later years of life. Deep tissue development is key when young as later in life it is easier to reactivate deep tissue and get in better shape more rapidly than someone who didn't. Staying in shape is best.

    It’s nice to meet you Summer. Very inspiring and learning from you 😊, I’m from Mexico and live in the States. That’s awesome you live in 🇲🇽😃👍🏼. I did some calisthenics in the past back in 2017 and in COVID I stopped sadly 😢 . I started over again this past August and made a commitment to get stronger. I try to do 3 times the upper body only. No lower body so far🤭, I need too, but I need to find balance ( maybe you could help me 😄), and incorporate to my routine, because I ride my bike twice per week and running twice. My work is in the outdoors on my feet. I’m aiming to do this year the human flag, L sit, more pull ups and I would like to do someday a muscle up , handstand, full planche etc, and l see is very important mobility 😃👍🏼, so get stronger is my main goal and improve mobility and flexibility. I Currently I do some 6 pull ups, practicing 10-12 regular, archer, pseudo, diamond push ups. Thank you Summer for inspiring and helping the world. God bless you!. 🤗🙏🕊

    you said you are focusing on two movements right now. my question is, once you nail the iron cross, if you move on to a new movement, will it be easy to maintain the ability to perform it going forward? does the body have a type of muscle memory for these advanced calisthetnics movements?

    • @Summerfunfitness
      @Summerfunfitness  9 месяцев назад +8

      I find it easy to maintain a skill if I have spent a significant time working on it. If I only barely achieve it and then move on, I need more training to get it back to the same level.
      For example, if you work hard to get your first pull-up, then you stop, you'll probably need a bit more training to achieve it again (albeit less than it initially took). However, if you spend a few months working on building up your pull-ups to the point that it becomes super easy for you, then you take a break, you'll still (more than likely) be able to do pull-ups when you return.
      I think if I achieve the cross consistently, then upgrade to even harder skills, that I will maintain that strength. But, if I decide I'm sick of the cross and I want to try something new and not build upon that strength, then I'm sure I'll lose some of the gains I made.
      But I'm just training for fun, so I don't mind if I work towards the cross, then change things up entirely. The point is that I enjoyed the effort of working towards it.

    Question: most North Americans aren’t Vegan so how do you know you’re getting proper protein by comparing to their dietary norms?

    • @gro967
      @gro967 4 месяца назад +1

      It's not hard at all to get enough protein from eating vegan. The most common misconceptions about veganism is that you would actually need to eat meat or eggs to get the right amount of nutrients. If you eat vegan, you will naturally get enough and you don't get all the unhealthy stuff from meat, which is a lot more than anything else.
      A good example is vitamin b12, which naturally doesn't appear in meat but is supplemented to the animals in their fodder. You can just supplement this yourself or get some products that are artificially made for that and thereby skipping the whole animal cruelty industry.

      I tried being vegan for a few years but despite eating a very balanced diet and taking extra vitamins was always pale and couldnt gain muscle. Always getting sick too. I came from being vegetarian for over 10 years and did research, did everything right but it just didnt work for my body sadly. Body type might have a lot to do with it as I'm katha/uhh what's the genetically thicker fat one lol 😂 cant remember ❤ endomorph that's the one.

    Hi. Congratulations on your success. I am curious about the vegan approach. I am myself trying to be one. I do not have a dog yet, but I am curious how vegan people feed their pets. Kind regards.

    • @ElSantoLuchador

      I am a vegetarian who knows many vegans with dogs. Most feed their dogs regular dog food. You can feed your dog vegan food. Dogs can be vegans. But it takes a lot of work. I have a cat, and cats are necessarily carnivores. They have to eat meat. I wouldn't worry to much about being a purist. Do what you do for you, and don't worry too much about the dog. You can't change the world, only yourself.

They're super disability and injury friendly. Their materials helped me improve my wrists when I had pregnancy/post partum carpal tunnel. I definitely think you would have to address the carpal tunnel cause and treating it before putting a lot of weight on them but that doesn't mean you can't get there! All the best Jendian
