I should also mention that my child cannot stand from floor yet and she cannot squat either. The only reason that she’s taking steps is because she’s just fearless with basically no proprioception whatsoever (like to me her balance and strength is just not there, but she just doesn’t care and will take steps to get where she wants to go, I think she always think that I will be there to catch her when she falls)
I think the fearlessness is very common in normal development around the time children walk. But as an adult watching...it can be very fear full! If you are super worried you could always get a little padded helmet. They come in all sizes.
Myla is sooo cute! Her laugh is infectious, definitely made me laugh. I love how she has so much support as well. My hypotonic child has recently taking her first 4 independent steps as well. But instead of bending her knees when she falls down, my child would just fall with straightened knees, is there anyway to teach her to bend her knees so as to lessen the impact when she falls?
Here is the playlist of activities I do to help children learn to get up and down from standing by bending their knees. I hope this helps. ruclips.net/p/PLAkJbMrHyKjM1llP4H__xPvtRv2S2ZvFz

Your videos are soooo helpful amy.my girl is 15 months and she started crawling 3 weeks ago with the help of physical therapy.her dr said there is some power in her feet(she can't stand yet).now we r waiting for an appointmemt with OT and my girl is on a little pause from PT as advised by her pedriatician. Can u plz share a link of ur videos to teach a low tone child to start walking as well as how to improve balance while walking. It will be so kind of you. (she has moderately low tone)
she is so adorable! I wonder how she is walking now. my daughter started walking at the same age as Myla but she refuse to walk more than 5 minutes when we are outside home. tried her favorite snacks to get her to walk a bit more just don't work.
She is definitely cute. I won the jackpot when I got her as a co-instructor. And the more recent videos like the jumping one, you can see how well she is walking now. Here is a link:ruclips.net/video/7m5F0ndR_0Y/видео.html
Dear Amy...I have a question here myla tool her first steps...soo I wanted to ask you as she have low muscle tone ,was she flat foot and if she was like kids with low muscle tone are ....how was she able to take her first steps without the SMOS shoes....can a toddler who have flat foot due to low muscle tone take his or her first steps of stand without support without SMOs?thank you for your work...I am always watching your videos and learning alot.....
Her mother never pursued the orthotics. Each child’s foot alignment is different. Decisions about your child’s orthotics should be made based on your child’s foot alignment not hers
My daughter cant walk she is 1year and 10months now ..... She is always lying on the floor at the time i let her on the floor to practice.... She can walk with my hand...she cant stand and walk alone..Im so worried for her and felt jealous to other child who can walk already..
It is considered clinically significant if a child is not walking by 18 to 23 months. I recommend you find a local pediatric physical therapist who can help you. In the meantime, here is my learning to walk playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLAkJbMrHyKjMq8hiEu5wCUGDKAsar_F0A

Dear Amy hope you are fine, I have another question sorry I msg you soo many times please do forgive me,in this video you told us that beautiful myla here took couple of steps but then she falls down as he balance isn't good soo my question is that was she fully able to stand without support before she took these steps..I mean like she was a full pro at standing unsupported before she took these steps or a toddler with low tone can take few steps even if he or she hvnt learnt to stand unsupported ?thank you dear amy
Dear Amy ,my baby one and half years old,he can walking all around the house , climbing stairs ,and do all standing activity except ( standing from floor by himself) l tried the way in video for standing , and also I tried hold his hand and he stands on his knee, Please give me your advice to make him standing from floor by himself.
Here is my playlist for getting into standing. The last couple videos on this playlist with Colton (before I switch over to Myla) are probably the most applicable to you as far as general suggestions. If you need more specific help, I’d recommend a local therapist. ruclips.net/p/PLAkJbMrHyKjM1llP4H__xPvtRv2S2ZvFz
How can we make walking better and more controlled? My child took first steps at 2.8m ..he is 3.3 takes 40 steps still very uncontrolled and fast and falls.
I recommend you find a local pediatric physical therapist who can customize a program for your child and their presentation, considering their strengths and weaknesses. In the meantime, maybe my learning to walk playlist will be of some assistance: Learning to walk ruclips.net/p/PLAkJbMrHyKjMq8hiEu5wCUGDKAsar_F0A
I do not know your child. But in general when I have an older child who is still fairly uncontrolled with their walking, I make sure I work on core strengths, practicing falling and catching themselves, and try sensory work and body awareness work to see if it helps With the frequency of their falls. I try to analyze what is making a child fall, is it fatigue, or poor ankle control, or poor body awareness, or eye control, etc. Then I try working on what I consider to be the difficulties. I wish you the best of luck.
Dear amy hope you are fine can you tell at what age myla took her first few steps like in first video where she can take only two steps and then fall what was her age at that time?thank you bless you
I don’t know. I think that her walking progressed pretty quickly once she started. I remember the mother saying they went on a trip to someone’s house and while there for the weekend that she started walking. I typically see her every 3 months or so. I missed it so I don’t think it was very long
Dear Amy hope you are fine, myla is just soo precious .... I have 2 questions my toddler who have low tone cannot stand without support and cannot walk without support,he can cruise and stand while holding onto things...he is 27 month old,I gave him a walker to use to push and walk with it but he just don't push it,he pushed his carrycot on our bed once took two three steps while holding onto it and pushing it soo it means he can use a walker too but he just dont do it,any advice And my second question is that what is myla age when she started to walk? Than you bless you dear
Myla is two years nine months old in this video. I guess you need to look at the qualities of the walker that you have. Does it provide higher or lower support compared to what he has been successful with in the past. Does it move easier or is it harder to move than what has been successful in the past. Does he walk Better on a hard floor or soft floor. There are a lot of factors to consider. It would be best to discuss this with your physical therapist who can help problem solve the answers with you.
@@pediatricPTexercises thank you soo much for your reply....yes its a normal walker which kids push and walk holding on to it,it's strange because my toddler pushed a simple old carrycot which was lying upside down on our bed and my toddler just stood holding onto it and started to move along it and he don't do this pushing with anything else ....you are right ill get in contact with our therapist...thank you again for your reply Bless you dear Amy
@@hauntedmobile9005 There is probably more resistance on the Carry card, then on the walker. You may need to add some resistance to the walker to allow your child to be a successful. Sometimes I add weights to the walker, and sometimes I just bind up the wheels with some string wrapped around the axle.
