The windows are beautiful. The trim gives it a more homey look. Greg I'm sure that set up in the stairwell was OSHA approved haha. Katie I agree, as much as I love stained wood, painting the baseboards will really make the window trim pop. This will be a great space for y'all to grow old together.

I know you guys are proud of yourselves, you built a house a very nice house. One day you’ll finish the house and build something else on the property. In the Netherlands we don't put trim around the windows. The walls are usually made of stone and we plaster the walls and the inside of the hole of the windows. We use a window sill only when we want to put stuff in front of the window. Usually we don't have trim at our ceilings but we do use it around doors and where the floor and the wall meet. I believe you call this a baseboard.

Every house I have built I used real wood for all the trim. The stains today are 10 times better than 40 years ago, and last a lot longer as well.
I have been in the painting and wood finishing business for over thirty years and rarely saw a homeowner stain with a foam roller without making a mess. Katy you did an excellent job!!!!!
I learned quickly to use gloves when (trying) staining. The stain I used managed to make my fingers a colour to match. 🤣
The clearcoat will keep the moisture of the wood consistent.
I used a router for the edges, a whole experience with very hard, very long pieces.

Forward planning - cutting lumber, putting in stick to dry, later milling, cutting accurately, careful staining and seal coat to prevent moisture ingress of the trim, more hardworking and persistence in fitting - phew! you both work so hard. Nice work - Regarding the moisture in your lumber : You should not envelop the pile on the ends and allow snow to seal it along the ground. This results in no air flow to remove the moisture and does allow for soil moisture to condense on the inside of the tarps and lumber. Put a firm top material on the lumber piles but leave it open on the ends. Make sure that when warm weather does arrive you open the ends up or you will find that mold will grow rapidly inside the tents! Good luck

Beautiful. So warm and inviting. I'm sure that any guests you have over will be overwhelmed. It will be a sad day for viewers the day you "finish" and there is no more to watch inside.
Now Greg can move on to milling lumber for the new addition plus the large and improved workshop. You really need a garage for the vehicles and storage etc. I guess you have plenty to keep you busy making videos.
