@@eminiarvii 70s ? I don't know what ship he sailed on but the Grand Princess came out 25 years ago and that certainly had about as much in it as these ships do. I think the emphasis was different in the 1970s. I sailed aboard the Rotterdam V in just about 1970 and there were no pay-extra venues or emphasis on balcony cabins. I was a boy but I recognized great service and a spectacular ship. It wasn't sparse. It was uncluttered, especially the deck areas.
@@benjaminsmith2287 i was a young adult and it was 1972…my first cruise was on the Carla C out of San Juan. Cruising is different now, in many ways. But nevertheless enjoyable. Its the Ocean that has my heart
This was the best cruise video I've ever watched and I've watched a ton of videos. Great information, great video, I like that you included prices of the various venues and whether it was included in the fare or with packages. Great job!
Your Sun Princess walk through was detailed enough that I expect to feel comfortable with the deck plan and venues when I board the ship, August 2024. Thank you for the video.
I love this boat I had an amazing time in Europe being abord this beautiful vessel and the staff was great I definitely would recommend this ship to other people.
Thanks, That was a great walk thru. Watched other Sun Princess videos and yours was awesome, more informative. We're looking forward to our Transatlantic cruise in September on the New Sun .🦈man
It's great to see that Princess seem to have kept the brand consistent with the launch of Sun Princess - I was worried that it would feel like a massive (and very generic) ship, but that doesn't appear to be the case at all. As always, wonderful video guys!
The Deluxe Balconies are nice. So, we would probably save the money and upgrade to Princess Plus. If you do decide on a mini-suite, we recommend the Cabana suites and get one that has the Reserve Collection. When are you thinking of cruising?
@@Eatsleepcruise1yes, we were reserved on the deluxe balcony and premier package so upgraded with the special bidding offer and got the extended balcony which unfortunately due to cooler spring weather conditions didn’t use! But it was important to experience the additional loungers included with the regular deck chairs. I would not pay the original price for that stateroom but if you bid for the upgrade when / if offered you will get a better deal. The size of the ship, ranges of public resort areas and activities meant we didn’t require a suite. Of course larger families and friends groups and special celebrations cruises would benefit from more gracious hospitality amenities. We had plenty of storage space for a bountiful wardrobe of 2 large checked suitcases with small duffel carryon bags.
Thank you for this video. Very informative. Thinking of taking my very first ever cruise on Princess to Europe with my sister and niece. Age range is 30's - 50's. Question: For a first time cruisers, would you say Princess Cruise's is a good start or would you recommend a different cruise line?
Will this ship have a calypso or Caribbean bands for this October and November? Also, are there any basketball courts onboard? Never sailed any ship but RCCL cruise lines.
Yes, unfortunately, the cruise line will be removing it. That's too bad, as it looked like a lot of fun. Have you sailed on Sun? We will be back onboard next month.
from what I've read, it may already be fully dismantled. Amazing to me that they dismantled all of it even though only the 'rollglide' seemed to be the problem. We are likely going on this ship in a couple of months, so I'll be curious to see what's going on up there.
Can't smoke in the casino because I smoke cigars. Only a wide open place on the open deck. That will go over big on the Star which will be going to Alaska. I guess I'll be looking elsewhere.
It’s not difficult navigating the layout and we watched every RUclips review. The aft ship glass elevators take you to the wake view infinitely pool bar and lounge which was not too occupied as well as the forward sea view terrace just around the front of the dome. Both gorgeous contemporary deck features, just loved. We lounged more forward sea view terrace, since it had a bit more multi level room to remain secluded and so just go towards the dome and the deck accommodates passage around the sides.
@@Eatsleepcruise1we had a sadly rainy day which deterred us from going out to port on the day we docked at Palma, Mallorca, in Spain! So that was the day we took a visit to the dome when it wasn’t busier actually. It was the perfect option for this. It was peaceful and featured a tropical waterfall mural on the LED screen over the indoor pool stage wall, and ambient white noise like running water was audible throughout the soft rain on the dome. I think the size was cool but didn’t make the circus acrobatics performance in evening. Video of the performance set looked gorgeous with mood lighting. I saw their rehearsal in the piazza and it was chill.
Sorry if you are vulnerable to sea sickness- we had two rougher nights which made it difficult to sleep for me but no physical symptoms. I did not expect this ship to feel as much like an earthquake event since it is larger.
The thing that would be cool would be to have a lounge under the waterline with bulletproof windows. To see what's going on under the waterline. See the fish 🐟🐠 swim by an occasional shark 🦈or killer whale 🐋 . Just a thought
We recently cruised on the Sun Princess, lovely ship but most of the great features on the ship weren’t up and running, very disappointing, the Dome was closed for the entire trip, kids looked forward to mentioned activities on upper decks, closed every day, maybe better in an year or two.
I liked cruising better without the up-charges. Cruise lines made money from drinks and shore excursions. Spellbound looks reasonably interesting but it is at a high cost. At least it doesn't have that washed out pale and taupe look that most of this ship has. No, I don't like this "contemporary" color palette of soft colors with an overwhelmingly, almost oppressive taupe/beige and sometimes gray "neutral" base that's part of every redesign that I see going on. My girlfriend's apartment building has such a redesign palette and most of the people in the building are saying it is absolutely boring. I prefer the richer colors and the less simple furnishings and murals and railings and things like that found in the older classes. And some of the specialty restaurants look like casual dining. I don't find much improvement at all, if any, over the previous class, beyond tech. Even the theater is all beige. Hopefully, this beige/taupe craze is over soon enough and the 2030s ships go back to stronger colors and dark woods and soft lighting is fine in some areas. I look for HAL, Celebrity, and Princess to offer some "romance" of cruising and these new generation of at least Celebrity and Princess aren't very romantic at all, unless you want to spend most of your time in restaurants.
It’s so beautiful with more glass to the sea! Such a relief from the glitzy styling of all the brands. I hate the sameness ouch trying to outdo the next. It has elegantly crafted spaces that never feel like a mall to me.
This ship will date fast. Like the overrated Celebrity Edge ships, beige and gray dominates with too little deeper, more vibrant colors. I don't care for most of the decor on this ship. It looks generic 2020s ship. Only HAL and to some degree Cunard's Queen Anne seems to not buy into it has to be beige look like most are. I don't care for the overly bright lighting either.
It is actually an electronic hanging gliding attraction that doesn't stretch over the edge of the ship. Still, it is pretty terrifying! Happy cruising!
Watched a plethora of sun princess reviews and this is the best one yet! Thanks for all the info
We took a Princess cruise 25 years ago. One restaurant. One pool. Two music venues and several bars. We still managed to have a great time though
Imagine how much fun you would have on the new ships! 😉
Was that Ocean Princess?
I so agree with you, sailing in the 70s and 80s cruises were sparse but fun was had!!
