    Another nice episode. I think you are too humble on your skills to explain how something works to other people. I think you are a great teacher!, and a great motor-enthousiast, and a very nice person too! :-).

    Very interesting, enjoyed watching. There is a wide contrast to todays motoring technology, which the young generation might find strange, but it all did work and the parts were repairable.
    I also noticed on the pump the manufacturer "S.E.V", which brings childhood memories in Uganda, East Africa of the Peugeots (which were much loved and common) and Renaults that used to come for repairs at my dads workshop. The other French legends were "Paris Rhone", "Marschall". It would be wonderful if you could give a short commentary on the different manufacturers - eg, when they were established, the city they are in, weather they are still manufacturing etc. Just a short commentary. Thank you and looking forward to the next episode.

    The extra pipe in those other Solex carbs is likely a float bowl overflow.
    Aircooled VW Solex carbs have this overflow pipe.

    Hello Steve nice and juicy knowledge video..im from uruguay my van is a ford e83w and I'm doing little by little some repairs...the fuel pump is fitted to the engine with a spacer and the pump was offering too much pressure almost 3 kg...y put another spacer but it was too much because it didn't work....y heard that the small Spring that is located in the arm can regulate more or less if it is soft or hard the amount of fuel it gives....I wish someday you can read my question! ,,thanks ..!,,

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  3 года назад

      High, well you will need the correct fuel pressure that is the first thing. On a mechanical fuel pump that is related to the amount of movement and volume of the membrane. That is why spacers are used to have less or more movement from the eccentric axel. That is all by all difficult as the engine varies in RPM. My advice , replace that fuel pump with and electrical and pressure regulator.

    Great video as always! There is an Ebay seller named alfa1750 out of Italy; his name is Gabrielle and he has all sorts of parts for vintage carburetors. He also rebuilds them. Could be a good idea to check him out for any parts needed for the carburetor.

    Steve, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. A piece of wire wool broke off and is in the bottom chamber of your fuel pump. You can see this at 10:38. You can see a bit later on in your video as well so it is still there. At least it is not in the top chamber so I don't know if it could cause problems or not.

    What you call a crown we call a ring gear. You may be able to tap the gear off the flywheel. Heat it with a torch. Flip the ring gear and reinstall it onto the flywheel. Which will use the undamaged side of the teeth.

    What would the impact of alternator vs Generator be? 6v vs 12v or is there more to it?

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  4 года назад

      Thanks for the comments, A dynamo is a DC device and needs an external regulator. Where as an Alternator delivers AC current and needs a rectifier ( diode stack) build inside most alternators. Overall an alternator is far more efficient. Both types exist in 6v and 12v
