Also Animal feed takes 1 wheat and 10 seeds of any type but does 10 times the hunger solution than most fruits. 30 min harvesting fiber and a stack of wheat and my 5 pack of animals is good for a week.
When placing railings holds R to fit diagonally.
For the covered bridge transition issue. you could extend the "motor pool" room out flush to the bridge and break 2 foundations out and have the ramp inside the building instead. that way you dont have any funky ramps outside in the weather.
lol basically the opposite of my idea nice
Think about a gazebo for your animal pen....stone pillars holding up the roof and steel railings /gates 😊. I think that will give you the outdoor feel you're lookin for
The half roof pitches have inverted orientations through the long press menu.
This is mission control. We have been seeing alot of snow coverage in your area. keep your shovel on hand so the snow doesn't break and destroy any housing. keep safe prospect.
The honeycomb like damage pop up was showing you hitting its armor.
This is one of my favorite series from you. Your unique editing and story RP is what sets you apart from other creators.
Wooden floor in the kitchen? Are you crazy?! With all the cooking, oil and water this floor will not even last a month!
Whenever you do these missions, you should build a little makeshift platform for your Moa to protect it. Use ramps on a cliffside and remove those lower ramps so they can't get to it, or a little floor with 4 poles to elevate it above any danger. Only thing that can really mess it up is a needler which is ranged so just watch out for those
Hell ya love me some more Icarus
Ditto!
Doing the Miasmic Research mission will save you a whole lot of grinding when it comes to crafting electronics.
G.N.A.S. 🤝 Detroit (state)
"Take EVERYTHING that is not nail to the ground...screw it! Take the nails and the ground as well. I NEED IT!!"
Has a beautiful wood and stone Tudor-style country house.
"I might put in a load of stuff that turns this place into a modern industrial looking monstrosity" Paraphrasing, but you get my point.
Although I know this game would not be my cup of tea, (too many benches and needing this to get this and then that to get the other) but watching you get into it in your inimitable style is a joy.
Sardaukarul You are my favorite tame!
This series is fantastic!
also make sure you eat the foods that give you buffs for XP % boost xD
Hi
Just started playing while watching Brit try out the game. Rust player turned Icarus noob. Love the content and the small quality editing, namely the echo to the mic when you enter caves and smooth transitions. Freshly subscribed and loving it!
edit: ctrl + Lshift to transfer all of one type of material to containers, helps a ton.
Maybe build the animal area up by one wall level then switch to 30 degree roofing over to the workshop and make a "double peak" arrangement - the living area rear part of hte workshop has 45 degree the front part the 30. The front part being one block forward would mean this would cover the ramp upto the bridge with a couple of support pillars? Anyway good stuff Tem have a good time in San Diego.
Make some Tier 1 Water filer you just need charcoal what is left form burning and use it to filter cans with water. Also you can make a lot of Stakes, keep them on the hotbar and eat them for 30hp per stake :)
you can double click the map to make a temp marker to follow on the compass, vespid and stonejaws weak points is their belly so its not your arrows specifically. hope you are having fun with this game, i know its difficult it like this game due to its past.
Tem! You were carrying building pieces on you in the swamp. Build a structure! Lol, I love watching these videos and seeing you discover this game. Don't forget SMPL3 missions get you a lot of experience too.
35:31 You could try running a pillar up the out left and outer right wall with a window, then use the angled pilar and follow it up to where it meets the roof, then remove the walls. I think, IIRC different pillars give different levels of stability, so a stone one would hold more weight than a thatch one, so if it doesn't work now, maybe it'll work later when you have some better materials, concrete, etc.
So you managed to get some Volatile Raw Exotics and Volatile Exotic Seeds at around 13:38... did you throw them out at around 15:35? If so, that one kind of hurts my soul. Granted, it wasn't very many. But still. As always, love the content. Love the build. My Son and i are always looking forward to more videos and love watching them together. Thank you for another awesome one.
Stability is much the same as in 7 DTD, except it tends to work more with poles embedded in the walls. Poles don't take environmental damage that I've ever seen, and they are the 'bones' of any bases having stability issues. In every base, I at least run a column up from the floor along any outer corner to the roof, along the edges of the tops of all walls, and diagonally into the roof itself, framing up each panel. Though this takes more resources and time, it makes the roof basically 100% stable, and adds additional support to the walls as well. And since the poles never degrade, even if a panel is worn through, you only need to replace the panel; you won't have any subsequent collapses from the panel failing.
You can place half walls between the first 2 floors. You can use them to place benches and storage.
2:42 "...Watch Clark and watch her close"
Your Icarus series' have actually gotten me to buy the game myself, though sticking to an expedition long enough to get enough skilled/built has been a chore, at least I can enjoy your work.
You could try to extend the roof of the animal shed outwards towards the bridge by 2 and have them supported by pillars. Then you’d have like an outside cot where can add a bench and a campfire for aesthetic. Also maybe the ranching station
imagine having to harvest exotics so you can buy better equipment so you can harvest better for a company that doesn't feed you, pay you and doesn't provide basic equipment. That is a very high level of dedication.
Fellow Mainer here, keep up the great content. Really enjoying your Icarus videos. My wife and I play alot of Icarus.
Never expected to see another Mainer in these videos, let alone two including the comments lol.
New England represent!!! (NH) :-)
Those purple flowers to your right at 01:56 are used in remedies. Pick them up using a sickle to get seeds.
This "frost dmg" during fight with rockjaws is in fact shilded dmg - you are trying to attack the toughtest stop ;-)
Loving your progression, but are you feeding those poor animals, Mr. Greyhound rescurer? Lol
Lower your “outdoor” room to bridge level and put the stairs inside it. It’ll still be a pinch awkward but will feel way better overall.
You should build a water filter, then you can stop getting dysentery. I believe there's a rain catcher version, and one that just sits in a water source.
Yeah I think you should just do a Livestream of collecting of all the electronic stuff you'll need once and for all cuz last time I remember it got so bad you mister started to steal from the space station oops sorry should not have said that don't tell anyone everybody
has anyone told him you can upgrade walls with the hammer with out destroying the wall then placing a new? He can just Use the hammer to directly upgrade?
Thanks for another great video! Love the base-building music montage!
i love this series soooo much dude
you can harvest bones faster by using knife, i think it´s not a big problem to repair it after, maybe, 2 or 3 runs into wildlife
The beehive is actually a very technological device at higher levels. You might want to move it indoors once your greenhouse is set up.
You can place pillars between the wall sections to increase stability. Otherwise I am stealing your build design again
For the love of God. Herbalism Bench -> Healing Tonic. :)
very refief when I see tem put the pillar into building. finally!😌
Enjoyed the work montages. I personally am enjoying myself and look forward to the added time
for the front patio look your wanting. a pillar should work for structure stability for both walls next to it. so put pillars ever other one going up to the roof. unless you like the look of a pillar between each wall
here's a thought if your having issues with the bridge/home transition why not raise the bridge and have a ramp on the land side just an idea so you come out of house right onto bridge and ramp down onto land
I think in that spot you called a notch or a gully between the animal area and the main crafting area I think you could probably make a door to a rooftop patio from your sleeping area and then put your rain collector and satellite relay etc
Sweet....can't wait to see how your brood of pets are doing!!
I guess the really essential DLCs are the Pets pack and New Frontiers, or is there another important one ?
Those dastardly stoners, always causing problems!! 😅
What if you were to open up the spot where you made their home (like you want) and move their home to the ground area where they were standing?
You're not doing frost damage. That is their armor keeping you from damaging them.
As long as your not skipping leg day; O.O never skip leg day!!
Tier 1 basic water purifier 😑 not sure if I trust a medic with a dirty water buffalo 😂
needlers and stoners in the swamp? TwitchCon in San Diego has that.
Fun series! Enjoy your time on the west coast.
Hit the stone jaws in the chest when they glow like that for crits otherwise they take like nothing
Thanks for another nice episodes + the extra added footage :-)
Loved the montages! Enjoy TwitchCon!
That not the frost symbol, it means you are hitting armour or a hard point.
harvest bones with your knife for more and faster havesting
Kept waiting for him to remeber t1 rain catcher or river filter... throw in charcoal and once it filters 5l it doesn't use more till you consume the water.
Fiber is my number one biofuel ingredient as I harvest seeds for animal feed. But skinning even if you leave the stuff behind... though bring the meat back and throw it in compost for added fuel conversion.
I was looking at those options too, but it was going to cost blueprint points either way so I went with the more advanced option
Feed your poor animals! Looked like everyone was zero food.
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but unlock Binoculars somewhere in your T3 Tech Tree.
(4 Rope, 6 Glass, 6 Aluminium Ingots and 2 Epoxy, I believe, it should allow you to see farther.)
Not sure if it also gives a name tag for critters, or if that is locked behind the Solo perk/skill tree still (see animal health bars or somesuch?)
For the bridge transition, perhaps use some of those pillars, maybe a half pillar? Build up a nice vaulted roof transition to that elevated entrance using pillars, and roof pieces. Frame it so there is roofed access up to that front entrance area, plus an area to the left as you come off the bridge, (perhaps a good animal pen area?) and next to your planned kitchen/greenhouse? Or even extend over the pen using pillars with a separate room for greenhouse above the pen and another entrance via stairs there? 🤔
to cover up the stair the easiest way would be to bring out the over hang
lookin good! i always enjoy your video in this mod!!
Think you are on PETA"S hit list at this point
I think the creatures are weak to their opposite element. Like the fire creatures would be weak to ice, etc. You can make cold iron arrows, not sure what the fire equivalent is. Loving the series!
Obsidian arrows
love it. not frost but a shield
Can't you respec the obsolete tech trees?
41 minutes. Now we talking
14:55 I wonder what that place looked like before you started the mission, like could you stumble on it beforehand? or does it spawn in when you start the mission. The same goes for any of the other missions which had POI's you visited.
Have the bridge tunnel into the house
I would take that valley out of your roof.
On your outdoor staging area, remember the snowfall! You have the roof sloped to actually cause more snow to accumulate on the top, putting stress on the panels.
Try to be sure that any slope of your roof leads to the ground, not any junctures that can allow snow to pile up on top, or you're roof is gonna fall in again.
Step the cover go higher..
Enjoyed this one.
enjoy twitch con!
Wonderful work. Keep it up. Looks like you're getting into the electronic age. I want to give you some tipps for making the grind a bit easier:
1. Push for waterwheel and electric drills. 1 wheel equals energy for 1 Drill. For other stuff use Wind-Power.
2. Make an ore detector to find deep mining deposits.
3. Place a Drill on copper, gold and titanium. Those are the main ressources for electronic and more drills.
4. If you can, place the waterwheels near base to easy empty them out from time to time.
5. There is a craftable device, which you can put on a wall as an interface to manage water and energy. It shows you everything connected to its own energy/water Connection and gives you a summary over production and usage of water and energy. It's handy, so try it out.
6. Make more drills. At least one for each ressource. (I prefer 2 for copper and iron).
7. Lean Back and build everything to your hearts content.
When you build those things, you will have a lot of ressources and the missions will be a lot more managable.
Looking forward for the next Video of Icarus and Afterlife.
Have a good one.
👍👍
👏🥃

*Tem: @**34:00** in the video, recess the stairs to make the transition from building to bridge nice and clean! Just a thought fren!*
Cool!
So you live in a barn now?
