I’m sorry this is weird but I’m watching this 6 months later to see y’all built exactly where I just started my base 3 weeks ago when I bought the game 😂 how cool. I know every square inch of that space of land lol
That purple haze is really good stuff. These 2 fools really think they are spacemen on a wilderness planet. They've killed, butchered and eaten every dog and cat in the neighborhood 😂
Yeah that part's a little bit hard to line up, but in general I tend to ignore parts of games like that with their story as they almost never make sense
I ran Styx on normal and I did all of the content, solo, and I didn't die. I came close on all of the bosses, but it never happened. So I technically could have ran 'hardcore'. I don't like to toss any of my time away as I value it. Things were hard, especially the bosses, and some of the unlocks. They are doing hard. I won't do that solo. It's the one reason they are being attacked constantly. Everything senses them and the dead bodies farther away. They will be constantly under attack, it does more dmg etc. It also makes the weather a lot more severe. I'd love to be able to make the weather harder or a custom mode, with harder enemies but not have their aggressive range be like 150m.
"Ow thanks Capac for getting all this wood!" "Oh thanks Capac for making me some armor!" Nope... nothing... it's just 'Why didn't you make me a shield?" "Why is my armor not finished?" This is Capabuse, plain and simple.
Give me a clip of Capac saying thanks even once and I'll maybe be worried about it, until then we'll continue to have fun and be friends in a way that works for us :)
@@FlipsieI can't for the life of me remember when, but I *know* it happened in an older series. There was even a "you're welcome" involved. It felt... wrong. Please, never be polite to each other again.😜
Nice, about time you put something out on Prometheus! Been looking forward to your content on this update! This update is awesome & sadly had to find someone else who does content on it :(
I started my base (solo) there just a bit further across the river towards the river cave. It's a good starting spot. Also close to ice biome, but as you mentioned, gear and xp up a bit. You're gonna need it! 😅
You both read my mind. My dreams have come true! Thank you for digging into the expac. I just got it and started watching your re-return series and it sucked to be in a different world as you guys, but I wanted to try the new stuff. So, yeah, you literally made my dreams come true!!!!! Thanks guys.
@Splitsie, you guys should build your ‘big’ base as a tower running up the inside of the gap between those two cliffs, culminating with the bridge you mentioned. As the roof.
Did you guys say somewhere that you were not going to use bows? I don't recall you guys saying that but then one of you said something about must resist the temptation of the bow....something like that.
I know I'm very late to this party - but thanks for posting this VOD, Splitsie - It addressed a couple of questions for me: (1) _Can_ one start a new Settler dude in open world?; (2) What's the Prometheus area like? I'm glad it is technically possible to start a new level 0 character on the new dlc - That you can get wooden building set on first level-up is a positive game-changer. Just got to find some time to sink into Icarus is all! Stationeers, CP2077 and recently Starfield are/have been keeping me busy!
I'm glad they didn't do anything that would stop me from being overly confident and dropping with a level 0 character. I really enjoy the challenge that comes from starting a drop completely unprepared :)
Splitsie skinned nearly every animal they killed together before level 10. Skinning gives a TON of experience. That's why he was 2 levels ahead. If they had split the skinning Capac would have kept up. Knives are okay for damage but Javalins are where it's at. The cave worm ones do great dmg.
All I can say, is this game archery early on is KING. Picking up bow & arrow at lvl 1 will carry you a LONG way. You might want to build some ramps down to the water as well.
When you guys find the Demon Kangaroos keep em in Australia. Actually mentioned you guys in my weekend stream on Prometheus. Been looking forward to your video.
He will need to do windows also. an bench too close to an open window can be considered not covered, rain and hail can come inside. Not a huge deal on a bench but it's a major deal on a bedroll and it will destroy it.
Did you realize that the way you hold the knife in first person vs third doesn’t match. Sprinting around with a knife feels cool until you see the goofball you are in third person.
Nice to see this playthrough. I am still stuck in Baldur's Gate 3 being the Larian fanboy that I am. Did anybody else notice that Rocketwerkz is doing their thing basically in a very similar way to what Larian does. Larian has a huge team and budget and 25 years of experience to fall back on while Rocketwerkz has none of these. Rocketwerkz did not get everything right, but then neither did Larian. Larian is good at adjusting their gameplay when players indicate they should and so does Rocketwerkz. They are both fast at fixing bugs, both very regular in their communication with the player, both not afraid to fess up when they got stuff wrong. They are also good at not nickel and diming their player base which is rare these days. Not bad for a small Kiwi outfit! So nice to see this playthrough 😀 Greetings from LarianLand
i can see a second Video in the Prometheus playlist as private video / not shown. Do you continue this Prometheus - Icarus Videos ? I am looking forward to this.
I don't release all my streams on the same day so when I'm organised you'll see a private video until that stream gets released. In this case the vod will go public this evening so as not to clash with my edited video on my main channel and the starfield vod that came out the day before 🙂
Drink water from running streams when you can. Not played super long but have yet to get any debuffs from drinking there early game. Still water has given many debuffs. Not sure if they modeled it this way but it seems to work.
Not too impressed with the DLC so far. The swamp and volcanic areas are a highlight, but the grasslands and arctic areas are not that different from the base game. Some of the new critters are great, but some are either a let down or just retextured base game critters. For a price that's a couple of bucks less than the base game, not impressed. The story telling side of the new missions is quite good though.
Bows are incredibly overpowered in Icarus so we all actively chose not to use them and to try out some different weapons, which is why the knives. The balloon is a lot lighter than carrying around 50 pieces of oxite so allows you to carry more which gives it a big advantage and to me, makes it worthwhile
This game would get a new level of drama if the animals are not dead when they go down and you have to make the kill-cut, like most of the time in real life. This is too unemotional, just a damage score, which makes it more like a sport than a challenge, and getting an actual kill shot would be much more rewarding.
I feel as though outside of hunting focused games, the hunting mechanics might be somewhat deliberately gameified. From the theHunter streams I've done, it's something a number of people feel uncomfortable with so I feel like it's possible Devs avoid it deliberately sometimes. I feel like the drama would be heightened if there was more tracking to build tension, as that was the part in the hunter that I felt was done better (though should definitely be tuned for survival as it's a bit long winded for this setting)
"Looks like Satisfactory!" - Just the words that sprung into my mind - Then spoken by Capac.
The drac's remind me of the Gate keeper dogs from Ghost Busters Movie (w/ Bill Murray). Enjoying the new start :D
That's probably because (contrary to the "Hell Hound" name), they're both based on Bats.
The music is so like spore and red dead 1 put together and it's tingly just the right way
"Help, it's fighting us!" Capac
I’m sorry this is weird but I’m watching this 6 months later to see y’all built exactly where I just started my base 3 weeks ago when I bought the game 😂 how cool. I know every square inch of that space of land lol
Uuuuuh what's it gona be... another but smaler keep, a giant wizzards tower, a nice manor with some sheds and outlying buildings... an alien ranche...
Capac and I have a few ideas :)
But definitely not going the castle theme this time
3:40 You bet I'm going to jagged crater.
Grassy plains be damned, I will have my jagged crater gazebo!
You know if you make overhangs around your shelter it helps protect your shelter
Moa's: you can run but you'll die tired.
Looks a place a lorax would live.

"you gonna use the skinning bench?"
"I mean they are coming to us"
Proceeds to fight a hoard of animals outside their house
Regarding Icarus headcanon: Don't forget the company-provided immortality service. Kinda makes all the privation and hardship a bit less significant.
Yeah that part's a little bit hard to line up, but in general I tend to ignore parts of games like that with their story as they almost never make sense

1:21:15 Capac puts a torch in the chest, Splitsie says thank you. It happens more than you'd think but half the fun is their fighting 😂😂
he says thanks like 20 secs after asking about the shield and armour at 53:30 xD
Ahh, the drying rack, the outdoors combination storage and animal trap.

There was a sound in the distance and Splatsie was no Moa.

The animal: " Equix me?" ;P

Why is it when I watch these two play Icarus, in my head I always hear Down Under by Men At Work?
@Splitsie, you guys should build your ‘big’ base as a tower running up the inside of the gap between those two cliffs, culminating with the bridge you mentioned. As the roof.
Wouldn't that make them a couple of trolls?
I wonder how well the hail will stand up to stone. ALso there's not as much stone on this map from what I can find.
Level ZERO, on HARD.... You brave soul. LOl
This game needs to come to consoles
It's on Playstation

Now, that's an enemy unit for a DnD campaign.

Yup, at the outset we decided to use different weapon sets to what we've done previously to keep things interesting for us 🙂
@@Flipsie Nice 😀
And you picked the same start location! Did I die and go to heaven?
they really should rename fur to hides.
I really wish this could be split screen with Capac.

Semi related - i tried Green Hell but it’s super bad for my fps motion sickness :(
My computer would explode if I tried to Icarus
i think you need to go to stone ore stronger as soon as posible.
With us levelling from 0 stone is still a little way off, but I'm sure we'll get there as I agree, it will be nice not to need to repair so much
You need a backpack for your character
Oh yeah, I forgot to make one - hopefully I'll remember next week :)
Yeah boys!
Will Capac be able to keep up with Splitsies speed levelling?
Speed dying more like! Moa 1, Splitsie 0
I would really enjoy in solo play to be to use special and multiple map markers. Be able to choose which one to focus on would be awesome also.
All I can say, is this game archery early on is KING. Picking up bow & arrow at lvl 1 will carry you a LONG way. You might want to build some ramps down to the water as well.
We made an active decision to avoid it this time for that reason. Both of us wanted to try new things to see if we could get by without the bow 🙂
Best of luck and get good and aim for the head then.
1:08:15 Booty Kill 🤣🤣🤣
When you guys find the Demon Kangaroos keep em in Australia. Actually mentioned you guys in my weekend stream on Prometheus. Been looking forward to your video.
Splitsie needs to build doors after he builds door frames. Then he might not get moas in the house.
He will need to do windows also. an bench too close to an open window can be considered not covered, rain and hail can come inside. Not a huge deal on a bench but it's a major deal on a bedroll and it will destroy it.
I love that when Capac's pod landed it sounded like it exploded
More Drahks than a Grineer base!
ba weep gra na weep ninny bong!

That does indeed appear to be the case :D

"we have enough for one bedroll." And my mind went 'Whoooo! Capac and Splitsie cuddle fan art!'
🤔🤢🤮
starting new is nice .. but i am still pi**ed about the end of your grounded series. i hope this one gets to something like an end. ;)
Given where we got to on Styx (without having proper missions to run) I feel pretty good about our chances 🙂
The sounds the Drifters make is so cool. Sound design is again and again on point for this game.
actually I really like to listen to your stream while sleeping, not that you guys are boring but the casual chattering is very relaxing... 😅
